  1. Tage isn't going to be that guy. Cozens maybe. Quinn possibly. Peterka could be. Tage just doesn't have that in him so we have to use him for what he is, and I think they are.
  2. Yup, that's pretty much what I meant. His defense has been better. I was skeptical at first but I really think that shift to center (accidental by need perhaps) has been genius. He still doesn't use his big body to hit much or muscle people out of the way or anything but in the middle he's really using that reach and taking up a lot of ice making it hard for people to move around him and he gets pucks off of them often, it's quite effective and teams have to try to pass around that obstacle. It looks awkward at times, but it works.
  3. Both of those things are true. In terms of drafts imo I don't think we've paid enough attention to that in later rounds. We seem to like to reach for fast maybe under sized guys hoping to get a late overlooked talent where maybe we could get a few bigger guys who have fallen due to lesser skills or skating etc. Our drafts need to be more balanced too imo that's all. The hope is that that is phase 2 or 3 of a rebuild. Once we have the talent. Just hope it's not overlooked. Still hoping pesky Pekar can become a good 3rd 4th liner but overall not a lot of toughness in Rochester.
  4. That's not true. You want grit that can play a little. Tampa for example, signing Maroon was a significant move for them (among others). You want guys who add toughness, but are not liabilities.
  5. I sort of meant the most you'll see. maybe some 2nd unit PP time and such. Trying to be optimistic. Hoping that the prospects pan out and the top two lines are quite good and thus the current Thompson line could be moved down to being a 3rd line. If you think that way, we could actually turn into a really dynamic team. Dream baby dream!!!!!!!!!!
  6. 3rd line center. 20ish goal scorer. better than I expected from last year.
  7. That's part of it, but there is more to it as mentioned above. He needs to get stronger to really dominate in front of the net and in close. He has the right instincts and desire, but big NHL D men are basically owning him in front. He will get there, but I think it'd be better for him to play in the AHL and keep that style rather than learn adaptations for this in the NHL which will hurt his game in the long run.
  8. Watching Cozens I'm a firm believer that RW would be a better position for him all around. I'd really like to see them send him to Rochester so he can grow confident again and thrive alongside Krebs and the others. They may be making a mistake in rushing him making a judgement that he can handle it with his dedication and maturity level. I also think he still needs to beef up a little more. Not because he's small, but the style he likes to play demands it.
  9. True, the RHD issue is a real thing. Experimenting with Dahlin or others on the right side is a worthwhile plan in the interim.
  10. I doubt this happens. Unless there is a trade somewhere there's not a lot of FA goalies worth looking at next year. Unless Columbus doesn't want Korpisalo or Edmonton doesn't re-sign Koskinen (both of which I doubt) it's pretty slim pickings. Carter Hutton, will however, be available.
  11. That's pretty much my view, which is why I said I'd make the deal at the deadline if a 2nd was offered for Bryson. I have no issues with signing him for a few more years at a reasonably low number though, but long term I doubt he's the guy. I also question all the automatic slotting in of Jokiharju. People are forgetting that the Dahlin Joker pairing looked pretty bad prior to his injury and I'm definitely not sold on Jokiharju's full potential. To me he's a maybe, but definitely not a lock. I'm more confident about Samuelsson's potential tbh.
  12. Oh yes, he was a great leader, that's why all the GMs signed him long term and that's why we won so many games with him. Carry on yawning..............
  13. I doubt Bryson gets you a 2nd, but if he did I might make that move. He's not all that but it depends on how Jokiharju is coming back and some of the prospects.
  14. idk where Tuch will end up but, assuming his game keeps evolving the way it seemed to be before the injury I would like to see Tuch with Mitts to start and see if that works. Playmaker plus power forward with more grit is a good combination. But that depends on what Mitts is when he returns. There are no guarantees on that.
  15. Even if there is a stylistic similarity in any way, there simply is no comparison because from what I've seen and understand Krebs is a leader and he gives maximum effort most, if not all, the time. and THAT was not Samson.
  16. Oh don't do that to me................. 🙂 I see Matt Duchene comparisons myself. Needs to muscle up a bit though for the NHL to be truly effective. I could see him at center with Cozens at RW or Cozens at center and him at left wing. Quinn or Peterka (depending which way you go at center) as the third line member makes for an intriguing and potentially very good line.
  17. I don't remember a specific hit having that impact but you might be right. I just think he lacked a physicality that meant he'd never be a good NHLer.
  18. I really don't know why some people liked this guy. I thought he was terrible but whatever. No loss imo.
  19. Just for you @Zamboni Before: and after:
  20. It truly would and I hope they do but I don't think they get all that much credit for all of this. Quinn definitely, Peterka yes, and then any of last year's picks after Power. Power was a consensus #1 pick from just about the entire league. Passing on Power would have been the controversial move. Also Krebs, everybody discussing a Vegas deal wanted Krebs and Tuch is local. They were obvious pieces I would have wanted and likely you would have too and mot people here. Levi is perhaps "identified" but a lot of people were talking about his potential and that was likely the best deal out there so again, no great accomplishment. To me, that draft team is up for their first real test this year (assuming we do not get Wright, the obvious #1) and we won't know if they got it right for about 3 years after that.
  21. lol, only when I see him mentioned here. But I am encouraged you first spelled his name wrong (Rinehart). This is promising. He is destined to be forgotten.
  22. Oh ya definitely huge similarities and it's definitely a reset and redo but there are a few key differences. We're not going to be basing it around a "generational talent", we do have some very promising goalies in that prospect pool, we might actually have a deep prospect pool this time. There are some question marks as always, but if this pool of potential talent craps out it will seem like some kind of curse. Just doesn't seem likely. Most significantly perhaps, the character of many of our prospects seems better, and that will matter. Lastly, comparing Tuch and Kane is just wrong . Really wrong .
  23. Can't let that false image of him go unchecked. Just can't. I will probably bring it back up every time Devon Levi gets a shutout for us 🙂
  24. "in and around" but never deep in tight when it mattered. Old argument not worth getting back into, he's gone, but we have not been in front of the net like Washington always is for years. Still aren't, but slightly better this year. Cozens still needs to get stronger to play his style effectively at this level. He also needs better linemates. Still think he should be in Rochester this year.
