  1. If so, it is perpetuated by exhibits Drew Stafford and Jeff Skinner
  2. Just a personal anecdote- I remember watching Bogo w BUF soon after the trade. I was at a game in Jersey (believe Jagr was playing- every time he touched the puck I was terrified) I remember Bogo skating hard, hitting hard, and having a heavy shot. Sadly that player doesn't exist anymore. I had high hopes for him after seeing him in that game.
  3. Right when we're healthy enough to scratch ERod, he actually starts playing like an almost-NHL player. Despite his contributions, I just don't wanna see him in the lineup anymore. Wonder what RK will do.
  4. That's where I'm at. Open to being pleasantly surprised.
  5. My brother and I bought tickets for that game from a scalper- something like $30/ea for 4th row (we held out till the game started). Audette was literally right in front of us with that top-shelf slapper.
  6. The point is, it will be their best (read: biggest revenue-generating) players. It's like saying, "we're only taking one player out of the NHL" ...who happens to be Wayne Gretzky. The NHL has all of the leverage. I maintain the only reason the agreement is what it is now is because Canadian GM's want to preserve the CHL's relevancy as a cultural institution, and help bolster it financially.
  7. I'd rather the CHL doesn't get special treatment, which is what it's getting now. Sam Reinhart should have played his draft year in the AHL. Dylan Cozens should have(/should have had) the option of playing this year and next year in the AHL. IMHO But I agree the the rules should be uniform for all players.
  8. People keep mentioning "it would only affect a handful of players," but that's the point- it will affect the leading goal scorers in the league. The CHL knows these players are the biggest draw for their product. This has nothing to do with "what is right for player development." It's a protectionist business policy, and GM's with a soft spot for the CHL (perhaps, as a Canadian cultural institution) have enabled it. I doubt a single non-Canadian GM is in favor of the agreement, as it stands now.
  9. Only way it could make sense is if he wanted Murray to build a scouting dept/prepare for the draft (PLF's aforementioned blind spots), and then when all those things are in place, dismiss Murray and take over. Not saying I think this is the case, but under the original scenario, could make sense.
  10. Great. The one game at MSG I don't go to, they look like they're going to win. This bitterness is me hitting rock bottom in terms of fandom.
  11. I also remember something about his feelings of Reinhart complementing Eichel- I interpret that as Reinhart's presence on the line allowing Eichel to freewheel a little more. It's worked in the sense that Jack's stats are amazing this year. Doesn't help Jeff, though
  12. So much of this is really more a result of specific coaching decisions/philosophy. Analytics cannot be thought of as some sort of tool to optimize a team in a vacuum. There are way too many variables. We rely on coaches because they see nuances in players and utilize them with their visions. In order for analytics to really become a helpful tool, we know we need large sample sizes, and specifics points of comparison. It seems like many analytic-happy posters here would prefer this whole season would just be another experiment for comparing different scenarios they fancy, when the reality is, Krueger is trusting his instincts/experience to do what he thinks will help us win. Analytics are useless in small sample sizes, so they won't be relevant to this team until they've played much longer under Krueger, with poignant comparisons of specific situations/usages.
  13. Knee on knee, wasn't it? Looked pretty bad. If he tore those ligaments, that's pretty serious, I believe
  14. The asking price is believed to be either a draft pick or a bottom-six forward. He’s UFA July 1 and carries a $4.9-million cap hit. -LeBrun
  15. While I agree with the sentiment, is he slower than Jojo?
  16. Anybody who wanted to tank should have realized: what we have now was just as likely as getting what Chicago and Pittsburgh had
  17. You can think what you want, but you're incorrect. Unless you're friends with every GM in the league, I can't see how you'd be so sure...
  18. I feel I tend to be on the overly-optimistic end of the spectrum for Sabres issues... but something gives me hesitation about Mitts. Not necessary that he'll eventually develop, but definitely about some accelerated time-frame.
  19. Many trades are discussed between teams and never actually pan out. Would you rather not know?
  20. I thought the same thing about the goalie. But, then again, we don't know how he'll look in the NHL. Let's just hope UPL is everything they say he is.
  21. I know you're joking, but I had an experience that was not funny at all. This is anecdotal, but our gov't gives immigration carte blanche to f with foreigners entering the country on any whim they fancy, and this seems to have gotten worse over the last couple years... But it's still possible there's an innocuous explanation for the delay of which we speak. EDIT: not posting this to express any offense taken or asking for sympathy... just an opportunistic rant!
  22. Go figure, changing up the PP formation from time to time might work!
