  1. Yeah, that’s really looking like the plan to me. He has 2 prospects/players with good 2 C potential. He’s loaded up on wings the last 2 drafts, and has a high potential defense with Dahlin, Power, and Jokiharju making 3 of a top 4 and Bryson, Samuellson, and Johnson competing for spots. We have 3 potential NHL goalies, though 2 of them seem like still a ways off, and one that still should have a year or two. I think the plan is to get that 1C next year in the draft. What makes this interesting to me, is the Eichel trade if we’re assuming that. It wouldn’t surprise me for Kevyn Adams to target W, RHD, or G prospects in an Eichel deal. Adding a high end wing prospect along with a decent RHD would do a lot for our future if we can get a 1C next draft.
  2. That roster was hardly highly talented. We had some elite talent, particularly at C, but there was no depth, the defense was a catastrophe, and the goaltending poor (likely at least partially caused by the defense).
  3. The plan has now become clear to me: Tank for the next two years and finish last in the next 2 seasons. Draft Wright and Bedrard. In 3 years run Mitts-Wright-Quinn Poltipov-Bedrard-JJP Asplund-Cozens-Thompson whatever-R2-whatever Dahlin-Joki Power-??? Samuellson-Bryson? UPL? Levi? Portillo?
  4. It only affects moving up in the lottery. If we are the worst team, it doesn’t count towards the limit.
  5. I think it’s becoming more clear that the plan is to tank next year, and this draft furthered that idea in my mind. We drafted a defender and a lot of wingers. Our left side should be set for a while in a year or 2 from just our pipeline. Wingers could still use some help, but there’s potential to round out most of the wings on the roster. We’re still short on some RHD. We may be alright at G, but it’s hard to tell. Our C pipeline is obviously weak with Cozens and Mitts the only centers in the system with top 6 potential once Eichel is gone. However, if we pick in the top 3 next year, that would change to having a great 1C prospect, and 2 solid 2C prospects. If the best returns we get from an Eichel trade are wings or RHD, this further cements the idea of the Sabres tanking now.
  6. Yes, but how different was their power play time? Oloffson was on PP1 for the start of the season, and was only scoring PP goals to start. I would imagine their ES stats to start were pretty similar. Now I don’t think that R2 has as much upside as some are suggesting, comparing the 2s stats like that is not contextual.
  7. Sorry meant 3OA, should have been more clear
  8. No, this is coming from a friend who works for the Sabres.
  9. Apparently, there was a deal involving three as the centerpiece that fell through. Also, one Leafs vs Sabres game likely to be an outdoor game this year.
  10. Yes, but also this is a rental deal, he’s only there for a year unless he re-signs in Philly.
  11. The Bizarro Botteril that basically got an equal return for Risto that Botteril got for ROR.
  12. Why’s that? Because we lost a right handed defenseman we were going to likely lose after this season anyways?
  13. So I think this Risto trade has upped my expectation a little for the returns Sam and Jack get if traded.
  14. Could be alright depending on the picks. Have to be a second in there at least.
  15. I think the issue with that, is you could just sell off the team for picks at the trade deadline, and load up your pipeline quickly. It would be too easy to do.
  16. I don’t think Boston would have made that trade. Yes Eichel was an elite talent. But Pastarnak was already a star in the making. His first year post draft and already over 0.5 ppg. 3 firsts on top of Pasta would probably be worth more to Boston than Eichel, with such a stacked draft.
  17. I’m not sure about the number of games in the 2019-2020 season, but it looks like he played the last 2 seasons fully, so I wouldn’t be too worried about injuries.
  18. Probably the boldest and most interesting (serious) take to me.
  19. I believe they could do it, but they couldn’t retain any salary if they were sending him back
  20. It’s actually more like 35%
  21. Because Sam still has to negotiate a contract for this year, and might not get as much money if he doesn’t sign for longer.
  22. That might be a little hopeful to think he won’t make the top 6 on this year’s team.
