  1. Leafs haven't won a playoff series in 17 years. They haven't been to a cup final since there were just 6 teams. No Hellfire.
  2. I live in Niagara Canada, and I don't know a single Leaf fan that would ever talk about hellfire and humiliation. The journalists... while ever present (moreso than in Buffalo), are much more balanced in their approach.
  3. Did you not watch the Granato games. They played darn respectable hockey in the hardest 8 team league in the history of pro hockey.
  4. Granato seemed to imply things were better in other markets. You reap what you sow.
  5. Its frustrating for me to come on here and read the posts from so many Off the Deep End fans. Its fans like you the Harrington's and Sullivan's of the world are playing to... And its guys like them that chase our players out of town. Who could blame them for wanting out? Seriously... Hellfire??? Humiliation?!?! I had a great time watching the kids play the back half of the season and I'm excited for next year. Granato was great, and I've enjoyed his post-season interviews... Remember, he said they feel the negativity. Hopefully they'll find a way to get Sam and Jack excited for next year and grab a goalie (or two). There's serious potential here. And if it doesnt work out... c'est la vie.
  6. Its a hockey game... Nothing more. Maybe its time to retire the MSG subscription.
  7. People are talking about Eakin in the past tense... He's.still under contract. Sadly, I see this team giving minutes to him next year... because for whatever stupid reason, veterens in this league get every chance in the world to continue to suck, while viable talent sits upstairs or in the minors. Full marks to the team if they waive him to Rochester, or can trade him for a bucket of pucks.
  8. I didn't listen too closely (i was working) but it seemed like he was calling out the media and the constant negativity in the postgame interviews. To some extent, the media is a function of the fanbase in that they're going to sell what we're buying. That spills over into how much players want to play here. I think our part is to not buy into the clowns that constantly sell us on negative articles. I enjoyed watching our young guys this year and choose to focus on that vs the poor results.
  9. One complaint about playing in Dunedin is that every game was an away game after the Canadian snowbirds went home. In Buffalo, will there be people actually cheering for the Jays? Likely not against the Yankees, but how about the other teams?
  10. No... The pepperoni is the most unique feature which defines it regionally. Read the posts earlier on about the Rochester vs Buffalo pizza.
  11. Without the characteristic cup pepperoni that Buffalo pizza is known for, its tough to call that a legit review.
  12. Sorry, what i meant to say is the heap loads of cheese that might be throwing you is similar in over the top richness as an alfredo or other respected foods.
  13. After following this thread, I've learned that there's a lot of history and multiple generations of people making pizza this way... mostly from Italian immigrants. It's more than a chef boyardee cardboard crust and a bag of cheese made by cousin Eddy A simple alfredo sauce which no foodie would turn their nose to is just mainly whipping cream and butter. Just before the lockdown here in Niagara Canada I had a chef prepared porchetta at a winery that was likely no leaner than a slice of La Nova. Ummm... pork belly!
  14. Yeah... Where's the cup pepperoni?!?! 😁 SDS... My guess is you're naturally very lean. I have some friends and acquaintances that would be grossed out by WNY pizza like you. I always say their ability to stay thin is not a function of their incredible discipline, but rather a complete distaste for foods that make you fat and/or an ability to feel legitimately full after eating small portions. A couple guys i work with bring in the sorriest-a$$ plain-jane lunches and when they eat its almost a daily routine... and not something they look like they're enjoying. Yet they're perfectly happy that way... and very lean despite not really exercising too much.
  15. If you're going as far west as Ellicottville, Tim and Bonnie's is really good legit Buffalo pizza. The first Tim and Bonnie's was in Springville and used to be a Blasdell pizza. That was our usual stop on the way back from Holiday Valley. When the switched over to Tim and Bonnie's, the food all tasted the same. When they opened the Ellicottville location we started going there instead. One hockey connection is that Bonnie told me Rob Ray bought the bowling alley next to the pizza joint in Springville and closed off the door that connected the two. Apparently that caused her to lose their bowling alley customers. Now the Ellicottville location has its own bowling alley and arcade attached. Edit: I just looked at their website and it looks like they're now advertising the Springville bowling alley in connection with the pizzeria.
  16. The combination of cheese, sauce/spices, crust, and pepperoni are what make it good. When i eat Buffalo pizza, i definitely try to eat less slices, than if I'm eating a Neopolitan or a Margherita style you describe. Like 3 slices of Buffalo style would make me extremely full whereas I'll eat a good 8 slices of thin crust after eating some antipasto apps. Problem is, I'm also likely to knock back 10 wings dipped in Bleu Cheese to go with my 3 slices of Buffalo pizza.
  17. Did anyone else here have Sammy's in the Falls back before they went downhill (maybe 12 or 15 years ago)? I still maintain they were the best ever.
  18. I'm surprised there would be a discernable difference as close as Rochester. Does Rochester have a style?
  19. The grease is from the cheese... Not oil in the pan like at Pizza Hut.
  20. I've had Imperial before. It was great... Holy cheese!!!
  21. I made mention of WNY pizza in another thread. 🤤 In my opinion, pizza from the Buffalo area is the best anywhere. Cup and char pepperoni is the main factor, but the cheese (lots!), sauce, and crust is also the best. Back when i was a kid, Sammy's in the Falls was our family's go to. Up until maybe 15 years or so ago, it was still my favourite, but then the quality dropped off. Since then we've hit Gagsters and Mr B's in the Falls and a whole ton of places around Buffalo but don't have a go to spot yet. The closest would probably be Pearl St Grill, but thats partly due to the location by the arena and my son liking it so much. The chicken finger and the stuffed banana pepper pizzas are really good though. That said, I'm betting there are better places out there, given this is somewhat of a tourist trap. We also really like Tim and Bonnie's pizza in Ellicottville. The steak sub there is probably my favourite too. So let's hear it... School this hungry Canadian on where to go first once the border opens up! 🍕
