  1. I'm not sure how much value Girgensons has. I like him but he's coming off a 7 goal, 18 point season. Those are nowhere near centre pieces for trades. I know he's young he's young. But if I can get a team to bite on him being a big part of the trade to land a potential top line LHD then go for it. A little off topic and I don't mean to derail the thread but where are we slotting Girgs if he's still here? I sure would like one more top 6 winger. With Eich, Reinhart, ROR, Kane and Ennis that would take up all 6 spots. I don't think DD changes up Larsson, Gionta and Foligno. So does Girgs start on the 4th line unless there's an injury? Is he Gionta's replacement on that 3rd line after next season? I really do like the potential of Girgs, but I need a lot more from him next season and I'm not sure where he exactly fits.
  2. Great background/explanation. Thanks for this.
  3. What the hell ever happened to Sean Day?! Didn't that kid enter the CHL draft early under 'exceptional player' status? Those guys always go first overall come draft year don't they? I don't even think he's graded as a first rounder.
  4. Very unlikely we win the lottery. But if we did, the type of young player that could be added to this core would....could....I don't even have words....We would be S-E-T.
  5. I wouldn't worry about unloading Kane at the 2018 deadline. The Sabres will have some real problems if we're still sellers come that time. Even if no extension is in place I would think they would keep him for the playoff run.
  6. This. I kind of wish they did away with the wildcard teams. Just go top 4 in each division makes it period. You want rivalries? That'll guarantee a whole pile.
  7. You'll also be rockin a new avatar for the offseason :flirt:
  8. Just coming to post this. McCabe went from the majority of the board thinking he wouldn't make the opening night roster to a guy playing some pretty big minutes and playing them well. Sure he had some rookie mistakes but now the guy has a full season under his belt I'm ready for him to grab hold of top 4 minutes based on his play and not due to default. I liked him more then others to start last year but he had to have been nearly as big of a surprise as Samson. Usually agree with you on most things but I didn't see this at all.
  9. Where does Risto fall in this list? Top 20? 25? I would say not now but in 2/3 years I would expect it.
  10. Are we talking best Dmen today or most valuable Dmen in terms of trades. If it's the later I think Aaron Ekblad has to be in the discussion.
  11. Knowing him he will forget about me after 20 seconds as well hahahhahha. Out of curiosity, what kind of dogs? My great dane only wishes I would drop her off for doggy daycare but I looked into the fees and told her sorry, I'll walk you when I get home hahahaha.
  12. Ahhhh I see. I don't think that trade works though if the Oil fall to 4th or 5th post lottery.
  13. I agree that C would be better to trade for than a left winger but Hall is more like Hall>>>>RNH IMO. Unless Montreal is picking in the top 3 then there is a very low probability the winger they draft will come close to Hall potential. Outside of Price and a couple of other guys Montreal is not a very good hockey team. They could use talent everywhere and if you were to move PK, you need a guy coming back with absolute star potential.
  14. If PK is being moved to Edmonton then I need Hall coming back as the center piece, not RNH.
  15. Had to drop my son off at his first day of preschool. I think it was harder on me then it was on him. Time goes by too fast.....
  16. You think he lasts until 8th or 9th? I have my doubts.
  17. I was just coming to post this. Nobody really thinks Detroit is closer to the cup then Buffalo do they? Especially with Datsyuk gonzo next season.
  18. I'll agree with this. Every single place I've eaten from in Buffalo is 1000X better than at home. Hawaiian is straight up either you love it or hate it. Almost anything you can pick off a pizza and not gag eating the slice except pineapples (well maybe olives too). Don't like (for whatever reason) peperoni, or green peppers or whatever else then no big deal picking that off. But pineapples
  19. Pineapples on pizza. What? They run out of anchovies?
  20. Just want to add how enjoyable it has been to read your posts this year MODO. Very excited to see you will be sticking around.
  21. I will be shocked I (ok maybe just very surprised) if Murray takes Sergachev.
  22. That's good to hear as I know if you've been critical of him this season (not unjustified). I like Ullmark as well but the way he played the second half of the season pumps the breaks on anointing him the future starter of the team. Here's to hoping both guys can take a big step next season.
  23. Great discussion on trading 8 for Fowler here boys. I think I'm leaning toward the Randall side of things. Some have put together a compelling case that we can afford Stamkos at $11 mil per. So I'm not worried that in 2 years time and we have to pay Fowler $7 or $7.5 that we can't afford Risto/Eichel/Reinhart. Remember Molson comes off the books in 3 years and that'll offset part of the raises for Eich/Reinhart. Now, saying the 8th pick has more value than Fowler is debatable. I agree that the 3 dmen that may be available at 8 could turn into a better player than Fowler. But two big things: one is we don't have to wait for the development and we can start taking a run at this thing next year while Eich/Reinhart are still on ELC, and two, they wouldn't be the first rookie dmen to bust around that draft position. Never guarantees and we atleast know what Fowler is.
  24. * Sabres pick 9th and end up taking someone a little unexpected (such as Keller or McLeod) with which the board negatively over reacts but player ends up working out (similar to Risto a few years ago). Also, this pick occurs despite one of the top 3 dmen still on the board * Keith Yandle is signed as a free agent * Risto signs a 8 year $6 mil per deal * Vessey and Calugglia sign with Sabres * Despite starting on the third pairing Jake McCabe takes a big step forward and is again a regular in the top 4 and one of our better dmen * Johnson does not resign * Lehner plays atleast 50 games and becomes a fan favorite
  25. Dubois or Nylander if we don't win the lottery please and thank you. Also, not sure this belongs in the trade thread or here. If we end up with pick 8 is he worth Cam Fowler straight up? Who would have to add?
