  1. Based on my experiences, there are places on the Chip Strip that probably wouldn’t ID a 10 year old. (Is there a facepalm emoji? I’m on mobile)
  2. Brother in law! He lives down here in OH near us. Or rather, we live near him (he relocated here first).
  3. I almost recommended Riverworks too. For some reason, I thought they had arcade games inside. But I looked on the website and couldn't find anything about it, so I thought maybe I was remembering another place. I only went there once for a UB hockey game, and I stayed outside. If they had arcade games, good food, and the chance to catch amateur hockey from the neat viewing angles, then Riverworks could work for kid-friendly fun.
  4. I think the Canalside rink will be closed by then, unfortunately. The indoor Harborcenter Rinks are right in your hotel, and they might offer public skating. That would be cool if they do. They have some bubble hockey tables right outside the rinks too. Nothing to spend a day at, but you could kill 3-4 hours watching a random practice, then playing bubble hockey, and then taking a skate yourself. Are your kids into history? Or at least into giant steel ships and submarines lol? The naval museum is pretty cool. I bet they would have a great time exploring the depths of the ships and sub. That entire museum is a really short walk from your hotel. http://buffalonavalpark.org/
  5. Dogs. Dogs are awesome. We recently got a Furbo- it's a dog camera with two-way audio so you can see and talk to your dog remotely. Really high quality video too. I don't ever talk to her, but I do take advantage of my favorite feature: the treat launcher. You can put little treats or even food into the reservoir. Press a button on your phone, and it will spray your dog with treats lol. On days that I can't make it home for lunch, it's nice to check in and give her a little snack. My dog has her own bed, and she's also allowed on all furniture. She has a favorite spot on the couch, but also likes my chair and her bed. She moves around and is always somewhere different when I check in on her. But the other day my wife left a hoodie on the couch. And the dog slept on that hoodie all day. I wasn't sure if it was coincidence, or she misses us and sleeps on our clothes for the scent. So I tested it today by putting out a different jacket in a place she never lays... You can probably guess where she's laying right now :)
  6. I wish there was more context to that quote. The question asked of ROR wasn't specified. It could have been: "Do you think other teams will call about you this off season?" "Do you think JBot will shop you this offseason?" "Do you think you will be traded this offseason?" I am shocked, shocked I say, that a reporter with Hamilton's track record of never fudging stories didn't provide more context before trying to slyly drop a bombshell.
  7. Hey, it happens to the best of us! Does anyone down your way know/play Euchre? Growing up I always thought it was a local thing in WNY. Turns out, WNY if probably the border of its popularity. It's fairly well known in the midwest and my Wednesday nights are better for it.
  8. I will miss this one- tonight is the playoff tournament of my Euchre league.. My BIL and I cruised to the #1 seed. If the top seed topples tonight, let's hope it is the Bolts and not me :P
  9. Okposo was 28 when his contract started. Kane will be 27 when his next contract begins. Kyle played 9 full seasons before inking his contract with Buffalo. This is Kane's 9th season, so they're also equivalent there. The difference? Okposo has scored 156 goals and 253 assists for 409 points in 585 games (0.699 PPG) Kane has scored 177 goals and 163 assists for 340 points in 557 games (0.610 PPG)
  10. I posted in the other thread but it got lost in the shuffle... He had 154 points in 154 career college games. His best year was the year Jack was there, to no ones surprise. He was a junior. Jack put up 71 points, ERod posted 61, and O’Regan scored 50. What a team that was. The most important question that O’Regan raises is this: how does the barracuda from SJ’s AHL logo keep hockey gloves on its fins?
  11. Curious that they let him play against us. He fractured it blocking a shot in the Toronto game the night before.
  12. Player A: 154 points in 154 H-East games Player B: 144 points in 128 ECAC games One guy got a 50+ page thread on this forum even though he never skated for the Sabres. The other guy won’t even get mentioned in a thread bearing his name in the title! I get being underwhelmed with the picks and the conditions. But not many prospects better than O’Regan moved this deadline. And at some point we need immediate talent, not future picks. Idk, just my opinion. I’ll at least say his name :P
  13. Curious why everyone is so down on O’Regan. It’s like he’s an afterthought and y’all are just hung up on the draft pick. I’ve seen Danny ranked anywhere between 1st and 4th in the Sharks farm system. SJ has one of the weakest farms in the league, sure. But he’s still a top 100 prospect in the league. #84 here: https://thehockeywriters.com/nhl-top-100-prospects-ranking-2017/ Everyone clamors for Kane to be stapled to the third line for life.. DOR could be a solid third line center. Given our utter lack of secondary scoring, I’m excited about what he’ll bring. I don’t think he’s a cast-off to be discarded just because you didn’t get your shiny 30th overall pick.
  14. Are we going to call O’Regan “DOR” like we call O’Reilly “ROR?”
  15. I’m not upset with this trade. But I really like former BU players and think O’Regan is really underrated. I was hopeful that Boston’s overpayment for Nash would prelude an overpayment for Kane. In a vacuum, I’m happy with the Kane deal. Compared to some others, it is underwhelming. But if only 1 or 2 teams will overpay, then you’ve gotta get what you can get.
  16. And wouldn't it be funny to acquire a Winnipeg 1st in exchange for Kane?? :D
  17. I was in Oahu for our honeymoon this past summer. It was incredible. Only 8 months later and I’m itching to go back. As much as we liked Oahu, I think we’ll do Maui when we do return to Hawaii. Gotta try to see and do it all!
  18. This is really cool. Thanks for sharing! Also super jealous that you’re in Maui. What I wouldn’t give to be sitting at a surfboard shaped table right now :)
  19. Massive overpayment by Boston. Spooner only has 3 fewer points than Nash this year. In 21 fewer games... They’ve been rolling, so i’m surprised they would shake up the chemistry of the second line. Especially at the cost of a first and a B prospect. And it’s not like Nash is money in the playoffs. I’d be estacic if I was a ranger fan. And I’m on the edge of my seat to see what this means for Kane.
  20. Homes with longtime family stories like that are cool. My parents’ house has a rich history. The original house was built in the late 1800s. It was later inherited by someone that didn’t like the layout. So they tore it down and rebuilt on the same foundation in the 1930s. Then in the ‘80s, it was inherited again. This time they liked the house, but not the location... so they moved it about a half mile across the street on tractor trailers. So if I’m in the basement, my surrounding are 40 years old. On my way upstairs to 1930s farmhouse charm, I pass over wooden beams from the 19th century. My parents are the first owners outside that original family. The folks they bought it from moved into an RV full time and travel the US visiting their kids.
