  1. Yeah, UPL is a very highly regarded prospect. One of the best goalie prospects out there. Not that he will be NHL ready next year though. He will probably spend most/all of next year in the AHL.
  2. Pretty sure that it was that first thing you just said here.
  3. I was just trying to say that at some point, it is definitely worth it. Maybe not for a 7th, but for a 3rd? I was asking that question. At what point would it be worth it, to you? I wasn’t in the convo in this thread from the very start, so I’m sorry if you only wanted to talk about the concept of trading players for 6th/7th round picks and nothing else. I probably should not have said “whatever you can get” because when it comes down to it a 7th for certain guys may not be worth it, but for some of these players I really would take whatever I could get.
  4. I go with Jordan Staal with more speed or like Chris Kreider if he could play a good C. I don’t like comparing most prospects to HOFers. Making comparable like this at all is kind of silly, but it’s fun.
  5. https://thechargingbuffalo.net/2020/02/18/sabres-prospects-notebook-2-18-20/ Blog post recapping the past week of performances from Sabres prospects. PS: The Curtis guy who writes this is not me.
  6. I had a conversation with dudacek about this. I don’t recall talking with you about it but maybe you were we part of it. It’s fine that we disagree about it. That’s ok. The thing that bothers me is you saying that I keep changing my viewpoint. I don’t think I’ve done that. If I have, please show me where so I can own it.
  7. Yes. That is based on looking at the roster and what I thought those players could accomplish. I’m not saying that is what should be considered acceptable for the team. There are obvious roster holes that the GM needs to address. He bares the responsibility for doing that.
  8. https://thechargingbuffalo.net/2020/02/17/prospect-matej-pekar-is-transitioning-nicely-in-sudbury/ Just a little blog post about Matej Pekar and his OHL season so far.
  9. Flip them and that would be close for me.
  10. You really think that Pegula is making hockey decisions and/or meeting regularly with Botterill to discuss players?
  11. The weird thing about this post is that Reinhart has definitely improved every season in the league.
  12. In your opinion, what type of contract does Montour deserve? What would be an overpay?
  13. I honestly can not make sense of what you are trying to say here. I don’t understand what you are accusing me of. Buffalo really only has 5 UFA NHL players, all forwards, Frolik, Sheary, Vesey, Girgs, Lars. There is also Sobotka, Wilson and Gilmour but I doubt they would garner any deadline interest. I think that Botterill should trade any of those guys who he is sure that he does not want bring back for next season. That’s all. It’s not a complicated philosophy. I don’t believe that I’ve contradicted this opinion previously. If I did, please show me.
  14. President and President of Hockey Operations are definitely two different things (in theory). One deals directly with hockey decisions, the other does not. Many teams do not have a Pres of Hockey Ops. The vast majority of teams have Assistant GMs, often 2-3 of them.
  15. Well, it’s not about which ones l think should come back. It depends on who Botterill wants to bring back. He should trade the guys that he doesn’t want to resign instead of letting them walk for nothing. I highly doubt that would be anywhere close to all 7.
  16. But wouldn’t that fall under cleaning up the corrupt government politicians and returning the rule of law to the US? I feel like someone said they were going to do that kind of stuff. They may have even promised it.
  17. It’s part of the business of being in the NHL. It’s what I think would be best for the team long term. They need to perform best they can, even through adversity. I honestly don’t think that losing Sheary and/or Vesey would have a huge impact on the on ice talent level. I’m not advocating trading away 6-7 players, just a couple who are surely not returning.
  18. I want the coaches and players to care and give a good performance. I want Botterill to sell off UFA’s who are not part of the plans for next season. Simple.
  19. Oh goodness, no, I don’t feel sorry for him either. But I don’t feel sorry for people with season tickets either. It’s a lot of money to be spending on hockey, even if the team was good.
  20. I care. I want them to care. Even you care (probably), but you are just upset. Also, I don’t really think the team is getting “blown up”.
  21. Maybe don’t buy them next season?
  22. I’ve seen excellent Buffalo Sabres hockey teams. The 2019-20 Sabres are not one of them. That was pretty easy to see from the very start. They are going to lay an egg once in a while. What I want to see, as a judge of their mindset, is how do they respond. Is this the start of a 5 game losing streak, or will they come back with stronger performances?
  23. This doesn’t belong in this thread.
  24. True. The fans are damaged. I just find the predictable extreme reactionary takes funny.
  25. Now everyone is going to be all like “this team is garbage, fire everyone!” when after the last game they were all like “we beat the loafs, we can still make the playoffs!”
