Injured- who knows Looking like crap- probably 0 Also, I don’t care anymore

If Buffalo can clear enough salary towards the end of this season, they will have enough to cover Olofsson and Dahlin’s performance bonuses. Otherwise, part of those bonuses will roll over into next year and affect the Sabres 2020-21 cap. Thats one probably reason that Buffalo will be reluctant to retain salary on any player moved this deadline.

Bogo was not going to agree to a contract termination until he was certain that no one would claim him. Can teams claim a player when they are waived for purposes of contract termination? Regardless, his cap came off the books when he was suspended anyway, not when the contract termination was finalized.

1) However much you think he is assuming about you, you are assuming just as much about him. 2) Electrical engineering, while cool, is about as related to statistical analysis as fantasy hockey is. Basically not at all. 3) A lot of people on this board had their eyes on Cirelli as a good acquisition target a year ago. There was a lot of discussion about it.

That’s nice. What’s your point?
-
He is a 20 year old with 10 AHL games under his belt. It sucks that he wasn’t good tonight, but............patience maybe???
-
It’s a termination of a multi-million dollar legally binding contract. Come on, it’s a process that might take a few days to complete. It’s not a change of address form at the post office.
-
It’s not, lol. I actually posted something written by him in the prospects thread the other day. Made a point of saying it wasn’t me. He writes for the Charging Buffalo blog.

So did Hutton let the team down in a game where they outplayed Ottawa, or did Hutton not steal a game where Buffalo was outplayed by Ottawa? I think it’s the second one.
-
The team allowed 40 SOG including about 20 from prime scoring areas. You guys really think that the team played well but Hutton lost the game for them??? Ottawa outplayed Buffalo in that game.

I agree that the Bogosian and Scandella situations were both not handled optimally. Yes, of course, it would be nice to have an extra 2nd. And yeah, of course St Louis is happy to have Scandella.....they just traded for him. I’m just saying that, either way, this situation is not making or breaking Buffalo’s ability to trade for a 2C.
-
But they could still make the trade without the extra 2nd. Just use their own 2nd. That would be supplemental piece in a 2C trade. It wouldn’t stop a trade from happening. That’s exactly what I mean. Scandella isn’t the difference between being able to or not being able to trade for a 2C.
-
Not true. There are people here who think that 80% of the players need to be changed out, that it needs to be blown up, that the team is nowhere close to a playoff team and a couple good additions is not nearly enough to get there. At least I’ve seen it said multiple times.
-
You are talking about 2 unrelated things here. 1) Not maximizing Scandella’s value and 2) trading a top 4 for a 2C. They are unrelated because Scandella or Bogo was never going to return a 2C in a trade, nor provide long term cover for a top 4 D who was traded for a 2C. I keep seeing people mash these two topics together as one thing, when they don’t actually impact each other in any real way.
-
While possible, that’s not a given. Do not underestimate the Sabres ability to screw things up in other ways. ROR was in Buffalo for three seasons and they didn’t make the playoffs any of them.
-
You forgot Johansson and Lazar as forward additions. However, I think that the issue you pose is certainly the big question. Botterill has set up this offseason for maximum roster and cap flexibility. Should he be the one who is trusted to mold the clay this offseason?

I agree on all points.

On the PP they work well. At ES I don’t think they have been anything special. Skinner-Eichel was a lot more special.
-
Yeah, but 1) he is playing more mins and 2) some of that is on the PP. So what are we talking about here? You said that Eichel has been WAY better with Olofsson than with Skinner. We are talking about ES only and I adjusted the numbers to a per min basis. Why are you dragging us back to raw points per game? I say this while fully acknowledging that Eichel looks like an improved player, especially in his goal scoring ability. I don’t give Olofsson credit for that though. I think Eichel just improved.
-
Except that it’s not per game. It’s per 60 mins of ES play. So it’s like 0.05 points per game, or 4-5 points over the course of a full 82 game season.
-
7% Its better, but not WAY better.
-
Jack is scoring 2.85 ES points/60 this season. Last season he was at 2.67 ES points/60. So Jack is producing 0.19 ES points/60 more. It’s not a lot at all.
-
This makes me sad. I hope he does something soon to make this look less true.

Has Olofsson really been amazing on Jack’s wing though? Between Olofsson and Skinner, guess who has scored more ES goals this season. Olofsson has 8 ES goals is 45 games on Jacks wing. Skinner has 11 in 50 with Johansson/Lazar/ERod. Last season Skinner had 32 ES goals. So, again, has Olofsson really been amazing on Jacks wing? To me it looks like Skinner is the one who is amazing on Jacks wing.
