I know that I kind of keep saying this, but this team is not that good, they are only ok. They are probably doing the win a couple/lose a couple thing for the rest of the season and finish with 85 points. They should not be buying at the deadline just because they beat a couple mediocre teams in a row in the past week. They should be selling to get assets to build the team for next season. Sabres fan sentiment has been waffling radically this season based upon the results of the previous few games. They are not the worst bunch of losers ever, but they also are not actually that good.

I would be surprised if a team traded a 22 year old 2C for Montour.

6th/7th, maybe not worth it. 2nd/3rd/4th, worth it. I know most are not interested in thinking about 2020-2021 mid round draft picks who probably never make the NHL and definitely won’t make if for 3-4 years. However, picks are also currency. They can be part of a trade for a top 6 forward in the offseason, or used to make a deadline acquisition next February when the team is actually going to make the playoffs.

Honestly, he went bone dry before this season. Go look at how he finished off the last 25 games or so of last season. Fact is he is streaky. When it’s, dry it’s a desert, when it rains, it pours. Well, you can fret about it if you like, but there is nothing to be done about it right now except hope that he starts scoring soon.

Skinner played essential the entire season as Eichel’s LW last season. I think you are misremembering. This year he has played essentially the entire season without Eichel. Without even a 2C level center.
