  1. The only similarity I see between those 3 is that Sheary and Marchesseault are both short. Not that I have a great deal of interest in him either.
  2. Bogo was never in a position to help the team. He is a negative value asset both in terms of trade and on the ice. He wasn’t going to net anything in a trade and he wouldn’t be any more of a Risto replacement than Colin Miller or someone from Rochester. Scandella was a pleasant surprise this season. He was so bad last season that I didn’t know if Buffalo would be able to get anything at all from him this season. He actually helped the team at LD this season, a position that they actually are not that deep at. Using him to acquire Frolik is debatable, but if you would have been happier holding the 4th round pick, that’s a reasonable, but relatively minor criticism. The defensive depth that Botterill acquired over the summer is going to help the team for years to come, so I’m not upset about that. That depth is long term and still allows Buffalo to trade a D for a C at any time without creating a hole in the top 4. I think I get where you are coming from though, I too wish a deal would have been made already to acquire a good C. I don’t know why it hasn’t though. Is Botterill sitting on his hands or was the deal just not there? How could I know? I’m impatiently waiting for that trade though.
  3. Can I get a list of which players are “goal scorers” and which are “all around players”? Hehe
  4. Bogosian has no trade value. He is always hurt, he’s not very good when he plays, and he makes a lot of money. Scandella had a little trade value because he was playing reasonably well, but he wasn’t cheap and he was a rental. Neither of those two were going to help the defensive depth beyond this season. Did you expect that one of them would be traded for a 2C? Im just a little confused about what you think was squandered. Defense next season: LD: Dahlin, McCabe, Pilut RD: Jokiharju, Risto, Montour, Miller, Borgen It looks to me like the D still has the depth to absorb a Risto/Montour teade for a C and make it a net positive for Buffalo.
  5. Yes, not being in the general election would certainly hurt his chances of winning it, but that wasn’t really the spirit of the question.
  6. Stay off Twitter, it’s bad for you. Also: How dumb is it for Carcillo to be talking crap about someone who has that kind of dirt on him?
  7. This is only part that doesn’t make sense to me. He is from Massena, NY and his wife is from Massachusetts, so I doubt he sets up his post playing life in western Canada.
  8. First GIF I ever post here and I get ***** for it. Don’t Be Hatin’
  9. Personally, I’m not confident that he is even available at all.
  10. This is the type of move that makes sense for Buffalo, if it’s possible. A D (Montour or Risto) plus a pick or prospect for Trochek? Under contract for a couple more years and young enough that it could make sense to keep him around beyond that. I’m sure he wouldn’t come cheap though.
  11. Yes. Buffalo would be able to terminate the contract.
  12. Weighing in on Cozens NHL chances next season. If Cozens is in the NHL next season, I think it should be on a line that (1) has some reasonably skilled players around him and (2) will not be used heavily as a defensive/shutdown line. I’m also going to assume that he won’t be ready for 1st line action or anything like that. So that seems to me like he should be tried at either C or RW on a depth scoring line. I don’t know if that would be considered a 3rd or 4th line, it really depends on how ice time is split up. Either way, he should be put in a situation where the pressure is clearly not on him to be an impactful scorer or to shutdown the opposition. And if after training camp, preseason, and his first 9 NHL games, he is looking iffy, just send back to juniors with lots of praise about what he showed and a promise that he’ll be in the NHL next (2021-22) year. Please.
  13. PA is an emu, confirmed.
  14. In general I agree with you. However, if you go look at Tampa’s roster and who has NMC. There are very limited options of players with any notable salary that don’t have a NMC, and they need resign Cirelli, Sergachev, and Cernak coming off their ELC’s in the same offseason that Vasilevsky’s cap hit increases by $6M. Im not saying that they definitely can’t find a way to wiggle out of it without losing a good young player, but their situation this offseason will be worse than it was last offseason.
  15. Yeah, you have to waive a player (giving other teams an opportunity to pick them up) in order to send them to the AHL. A player can’t be cut like in the NFL. The team doesn’t have to play him, could send him down, could probably even tell him to not bother coming to work anymore, but the player is not free to sign with any other team, because they are still under contract with Buffalo. The player can be bought out, which frees the player to sign with another team while still getting paid, but also stretches out their cap hit into future years. Or the contract can be terminated if both player and team agree to it. The player does not get paid in this case though, but is allowed to sign a new contract with another team.
  16. Yes, because he violated terms of his contract that warranted termination. Bogo hasn’t done anything like that.
  17. Does this actually happen? Under what circumstances would a team do this?
  18. NHL teams can’t “release” players in this way, can they? Releasing them but still paying them? That would circumvent the cap. If this was possible Bogo and Okposo would have already been “released” long ago. They can buy players out, or players and team can agree to mutual contract termination. A buy out pays the player, but counts against the cap. Mutual termination, terminates the contract and the player doesn’t get paid.
  19. I would give them Risto or Montour and a 2nd, without a 2nd thought. I’d even throw in an extra 2nd. It would only take me a second to decide.
  20. It’s a thing that can happen. Bogosian and Buffalo would have to mutually agree to such a contract termination. But that’s not what is happening right now. He is not going through unconditional waivers for the purposes of contract termination. He is going through regular waivers. He can be claimed by another team, and if he clears waivers he could be sent to the AHL.
  21. Boudreau is a good coach, I believe. Hasn’t had a great deal of success in the playoffs, but I can’t see how that would affect Buffalo at all.
  22. Even if he clears waivers, he can’t sign a cheaper deal with another team. He will still be on his big contract. Unfortunately.
  23. There are certainly some good points here. I have an open mind. I understand that the numbers coming from the Chinese government are probably unreliable. I’m sure it’s true that mortality rates would be much higher in an overwhelmed hospital setting. It’s true that the size of Wuhan and many other Chinese cities is something that isn’t present in the US outside of NYC and LA. The numbers do get very large, very quickly. Basically, there is still a lot that we don’t know with any certainty, and I’m cautious to get worked up without more concrete information. You certainly have given me some things to consider though. I hope you didn’t take offense to my “are theses numbers out of thin air?” comment. I was truly asking where the numbers came from. I hadn’t heard anything of that magnitude.
  24. For unconditional waivers, Bogo would have had to already agreed to terminate, yes?
