I doubt that 4 months from now cases will be increasing. Who knows for sure, but doesn’t seem likely based on how things have been playing out in other areas.

1) basic surgical masks are different from the n95 masks that the health care professionals are using, and they need them more. There is already a shortage of them pretty much everywhere. Hospitals are truly not prepared for this. 2) because the drive-up testing keeps people out of already over crowded ERs. I’m sure that even at the drive thru testing centers they are only testing people who have suspicious symptoms. Testing as many people as possible is good.

Personally, I would only do that last one. Outside, not enclosed space, and neither of you would be touching each other’s stuff. If you want a sober reminder about why social distancing is important, read about how Italians initially handled their social distancing and what their situation has now come to.

I would think that any responsible Dr would say “probably” in that instance. Because, while it reasons that they should be “immune”, the research has not been done to scientifically prove it.

I’m not saying you are wrong, but how could this be possible? If a human contracts a virus and then recovers, that means that their body produced antibodies to fight it off and destroy it. Those antibodies remain around for a certain amount of time. That person would be resistant to the same virus, if not immune.

The “hospitals” are the least of what I’m talking about. They told everyone to stay home. Closed businesses. Instituted curfews. Essentially locking down major cities. Stuff like that. Im not saying that China did a wonderful job initially handling the outbreak. However, the resulting steps that they felt were necessary should be an indication that their situation was in fact serious.
-
I’ve no idea about that. Just that they basically shut down EVERYTHING in some major cities for a period of time.

I would direct you to look at the lengths China went to in order to keep it “under control” there. That is a government which is not nearly as concerned with people pleasing. Basically all governments around the world are taking steps similar to what the US is doing, more extreme steps in many cases.

I think you are misremember to an extent. Both those guys were fighters from the start. Rob Ray accumulated 446 PIM in his very first season of pro hockey, as a 20 year old in the AHL. He put up some points in the OHL, but a lot more PIMs. He had 318 PIM in just 35 games as a 16 year old in the OJHL. He was always a fighter. Schultz did score in juniors, minors, and actually in the NHL a bit too, but he fought as well from the start. 138 PIM in 59 games at 17, 356 PIM at 19, and on from there. He was always a fighter. Its not that there were a lot of guys who didn’t fight, then became fighters to get NHL jobs. It’s just that a lot more guys fought, and there was a place in the NHL for guys who fought, even if their hockey skills, which were good in lower leagues, were not good for the NHL.

I think your mileage may vary on this from player to player. I think that, in general, the CHL leagues may have more skilled players than NCAA D1, however, the players are not as physically mature. Because of this, the CHL leagues may be “harder” for some players while the NCAA may be “harder” for others.

That’s a nice thought, but after making moves to inspire confidence they proceeded to lose 6 straight anyway, so.........

No!

Yeah, you are describing slightly unbalanced teams with more skill than toughness. Of course those exist. Just as there are teams with lots of grit/toughness, but not enough skill. Those teams are also not good enough. Recently/currently Islanders, Columbus, Arizona. But what I really meant was are there teams out there trying to use deep analytical nonsense to reinvent the game by using computers? Who? Toronto? Carolina? I was just wondering where that came from.

I was just doing the math. I wasn’t making any judgment about who is worth what. I’m so sick of reading about Reinhart and his impending contract/trade that there is no way I’m getting into it.

I agree with you that most decisions made by coaches/GMs likely have data to back them up. The issue, I think, is that if you don’t approach a decision with critical thinking or if you are not placing value on the right things, then you are still going to make a lot of poor decisions. Data can be found to back up almost any point of view. For an overly simplistic example, if you place more value on Hits or Corsi than High Danger Scoring Chances or Expected Goals, then you are going to be targeting inferior players a lot of the time, but you still can say that you have data to back up your decisions.

No problem. I just wasn’t sure. D-2, D-1, D, D+1, D+2 are commonly used as abbreviations for NHL draft prospects to identify their pre and post draft seasons.
-
Eichel D+1 = 56 points in 81 games Eichel D+2 = 57 points in 61 games

Isn’t it pretty standard for Assistant GMs to have outs in their contracts that allow them to take a higher level position (GM)? Regardless, last time Sabres were interviewing for GM, Rangers/Drury declined to interview, I believe, so I would have been surprised if Drury emerged as a serious candidate anyway.

The answer is $75M, Ehlers $6M contract was 8% of the cap. Next season the cap will reportedly be $84-88M. So if Reinhart signs for 8% of the cap, that would be $6.75 to 7M.
