Sabres “salary cap space is a mirage” per Yerdon in Athletic
Curt replied to freester's topic in The Aud Club
I think Buffalo should be able to afford to keep anyone off the current roster that they want to, and should have a couple million left over. With the cap projected to stay pretty flat, there probably won’t be enough money to go after a significant player without also moving salary out. When the cap was projected to rise $3M+, it was looking like Buffalo could probably add a good player ($5-6M). So with the cap now staying flat, it’s no surprise. -
If the US had the deaths per capita that Italy has had, it would equate out to about 160,000 deaths. In the beginning, Italy didn’t do enough and their hospital situation got completely out of control, then they locked everything down. It hit them early on they have had 26k confirmed deaths. They tried to do what Sweden is doing now, and their medical infrastructure just couldn’t handle it. They had to change strategies.
-
In that case, do you feel that China and Italy also overreacted?
-
Yeah sure, the US and China both. Bunch of wussies. And get the F off my lawn! This take (which you have consistently expressed) seems to be completely based on emotion as opposed to scientific information. It’s honestly surprising for someone in your field.
-
Well, I understand what you are saying, but I don’t know why you feel this way. I hope that my statement that I don’t think they are unstable was interpreted as a defense of them or an expression of how nice they must be. I would be surprised if anyone here has good things to say about them.
-
That’s basically what the thread is for, no? I’m not sure how talking about Jong-Un and Yo-Jung would be derailing the thread.
-
I have not seen this issue around where I live. I went out to a popular park in the Albany area yesterday. The crowd was reasonable and people seemed to doing a pretty good job. Sorry that wasn’t the case where you were yesterday, but it doesn’t invalidate the entire practice of mitigation. I think it’s best look at the big picture with stuff like this.
-
I haven’t really viewed Kim Jong Un as unstable at all. What have you read about Yo Jong?
-
I don’t get it. Mitigation needs to end because there were a lot of people at the park today?

They don’t have those second 2 in NK. The surgeon just gives a shot of whisky and a wooden spoon to bite down on. But seriously, I hope this leaves NK in stable hands, ultimately leading to some reforms. Don’t know how likely that is. The sister seems politically astute at least.

Lol, we’ll see I guess. Can’t be certain either way just yet.
-
I do understand you. I just think it’s more important to get the high end talent than to have an abundance of bottom of the roster talent. With hits like Mittelstadt, Nylander, Grigorenko, Girgensons, Armia, who needs misses?
-
I disagree. It could be reasonably argued that all of McAvoy, DeBrusk, Pastrnak, and Hamilton are better than any of Cozens, Mittelstadt, Nylander, Ristolainen, Grigorenko, Girgensons, Armia, Pysyk. Even if they average out pretty close because of a couple busts. Top-6/top pair guys are A LOT harder to find than bottom 6/bottom pair guys. Buffalo has enough of one of those and not enough of the other.
-
No. They have been willing to consistently spend to the cap. They will have some cap space to add salary/talent next season. Its possible that through some financial misfortune, that could all change now, but I don’t think it’s particularly likely.
-
The past few years, he has been a 40-50 point guy. With last season being his least productive. You would be getting his age 30-33 seasons for $5M per. He would be good for the Sabres as a veteran stop gap type option, but I’m not sure if he is worth a top-10 pick in a very good draft.
-
For Domi, it would depend on the prospect, but yes, probably. For Anderson, that’s also a probably yes. I think that your salary numbers for both Reinhart and Anderson are actually a little high, especially considering the current financial situation. Anderson could get that, but I’m thinking more $3.5-4.0 Reinhart is more like $6.0-6.5 than $7.5 I think contracts given out will be less generous than previously projected. The cap is probably not going to see much increase for the next 2-4 years.
-
That’s basically what it’s like out there right now, lol.

Robert Kraft? No?

According to Wikipedia, Dr. Fauci says that the CDC did develop a vaccine for SARS and that it is in the US national stockpile.

I think that goes for pretty much everyone. Personally, I don’t think they are terrible people. I just think that they haven’t done a very good job. If they keep on not doing a very good job, the chances of Buffalo becoming a team that consistently wins is pretty low. So I do care about reports that they are doing a bad job of running the organization.
-
Yeah, any one thing you can dismiss or logic away as untrue, or sour grapes, or not so bad, or whatever. But there is just one piece of evidence after another that they are not doing a good job of running the Buffalo Sabres organization.

Prediction for Dem VP candidate?
Curt replied to Eleven's topic in The Oval Office (Politics)'s Topics
He has at least said, in recent days, that he will never run for president. 20 years is long enough to change your mind though. -
This is just one more thing. The team has been terrible for a decade, the owners don’t appear to be doing things particularly well, people don’t like working for them. There are a lot more negative indicators for the Buffalo Sabres than positive ones. It’s just sad.
-
Of course. I think you have to consider that some of what is laid out in the article is exactly what is stopping that super successful alternate scenario from having come to fruition.
