  1. Keyword may be “workable”. It doesn’t necessarily mean good. He is someone who could absorb difficult matchups so Mitts/Cozens don’t need to.
  2. Fair enough. I think it depends on what type of deal the Sabres are looking to make. Would they make a deal that returns a good established, but still young NHL player?
  3. I actual don’t think he has a lack of physicality. When I watched him, he does play physical. However, he does not physically dominate or change the game with size/strength. I think he could learn to use it more, because I don’t think he is a naturally passive player or anything.
  4. I don’t think we have evidence that Jack hates small cities and demands to go to a large market. What he doesn’t like about the Sabres is that they are a bad organization that doesn’t win. I have no reason to believe that Jack wouldn’t plenty happy in a small market with a good hockey team. If you have some evidence to the contrary, please offer it up. From a discussion in another thread: Eichel for Connor, Copp, and Perfetti. Who says no?
  5. Irresistible force meets immovable object. Well done lads. Next time we can argue about whose Dad could beat up who.
  6. I don’t even bother thinking up stuff like this. An NHL GM just isn’t doing it.
  7. I this world, Turcotte and Kaliyev would never be traded for 1 OA, but they might be worth it.
  8. Sabres are not going to package the #1 pick with Eichel. Just the optics of it make it almost sure to be out of the question. It would be just such a weird weird thing to do.
  9. I think the Yashin situation and trade is as good a parallel for the Eichel situation as you can find. Young top 10 scoring franchise C with some off ice concerns and a fractured relationship with his team. Traded for a still developing good young player (Chara), the #2 overall pick, who they knew would be Spezza, and an experienced, not very good, bottom 6 forward.
  10. I feel the same. Which means it’s probably close to realistic. The money isn’t too far off either. $10M for Jack vs $9.4M for KC+Copp (more after Copp’s raise.)
  11. Be careful. 19 year old prospects don’t always work like that.
  12. One of Connor/Ehlers, along with Copp, and Perfetti. Maybe?
  13. I don’t think Beniers is close to a lock of going top 2. In Bob McKenzie’s midseason scouts poll, Beniers was ranked 4th behind Power, Guenther, Edvinsson. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.tsn.ca/owen-power-the-unanimous-no-1-in-tsn-s-mid-season-draft-rankings-1.1626057%3ftsn-amp
  14. Yeah, they changed the distribution of the %’s. Took some away from the top 5 teams and distributed it across the rest. Yeah, something like a 70% chance of it being #3.
  15. Agree. That’s probably more than you can expect.
  16. No love for Clarke up there with Hughes? For me, top 3 Fs in order are Beniers, Eklund, Guenther, top 3 D are Clarke, Hughes, Power.
  17. Final thoughts on this. IF Buffalo is not able make a deal for a truly elite prospect, Vegas is not a bad partner. They can offer Fleury, who is expensive for a year, but still good, a near elite C prospect in Krebs, and some current roster help, and a type of player they should desire, in Tuch. Then picks to balance. One other Vegas prospect that I find interesting is Lukas Cormier, LD, 2nd round pick in 2020, who just exploded in his QMJHL season (they actually had one). He is small at 5’10”, but put up 16 goals, 54 pts in 39 games as an 18 yr old. He’s dynamic but will need more development time. Not sure what he will become, but I’m intrigued.
  18. The story is that those offers were contingent on Sabres paying O’Reilly’s big bonus in July. Instead he was traded to STL the day before the bonus was due.
  19. Life on Earth is something like 4 billion years old. Multicellular life is about 1 billion years old. Simple animals and land plants arrived about 500-600 million years ago. 2.5 million years since the arrival of the ***** (lol, H0m0 is censored) genus. 200,00 years since the appearance of modern humans. 200,000 years is 0.0000444% of 4.5 billion years. As a species, we are something like 1/20,000th of the way to this collision of galaxies. As long as we’ve been on the planet, we’ll need to do that length of time 20,000 more times before that collision. There’s no way. I’m not worried about it. I think by then we will be a barely distinguishable blip in the fossil record. (anyone feel free to correct my math)
  20. I don’t understand. Is this not still the internet?
  21. Too much. He isn’t the good 1C they hoped he would become, but he is still a player that would help most any team.
  22. I don’t know if they can get a higher tier prospect or not. Yeah, similar level prospects and bring similar qualities as players. I think Krebs might actually be a little better though. That might be a hot take and I don’t think anyone would have said that 2 years ago.
  23. My favorite asset from Vegas is Peyton Krebs. I love that guy and feel he is a little underrated. I think he is a near elite prospect, along the lines of guys like Turcotte, Kaliyev, Kakko, but behind Byfield, Lafreniere, Zegras. Not just his skills, he is a player you can send out in any game situation and he is a natural leader type. If Sabres are going to a near all youth rebuild type setup, I want players who can handle themselves. Self driven players who can be positive influences even at a young age.
  24. This is a nice reasonable approach. Not sure where you draw the line of that though. I also have reservations about Tkachuk. I like the style of hockey he plays but he occasionally does questionable stuff, and I have serious doubts about his intentions regarding his contract. I think a year from now you are staring down the barrel of a gun with him, like Buffalo is with Reinhart right now. He can just go to arbitration, grab a 1 year deal, then it’s UFA in the 2023 offseason. He has purposefully set himself up for that scenario.
  25. When I read your question, my mind immediately jumped to Hischier.
