Yeah, he isn’t going to sit out a season. If he insists on being traded, he will get traded.
-
Nah. The simplest explanation is generally correct. They post everyone’s interview. It’s as simple as that.
-
Where were Wild mentioned? Hadn’t heard that one?
-
It’s fine if you don’t want to trade Eichel/Reinhart/Risto, but even next year Schmidt, Brown, Gibson, Zegras and maybe Byfield are good NHL players. Certainly not “basically nothing”.
-
So his agent is his uncle. Family decisions with these legacy players.
-
Lol, aww shoot. My bad.
-
Oh *****! Marcus is a UFA too! How have we not realized this? Folignos are going somewhere together! This is actually a pretty good idea for veteran leadership, if you can get them. Give them matching 3 year, $4.5M AAV contracts?
-
Reinhart for Tkachuk? Oh goodness yes. However, a note on Tkachuk as a trade target. It really seems like he is going the same route as Reinhart contract wise. Getting to UFA ASAP. Tkachuk has one more year on his current contract. $7M AAV, $9M salary. Then after that he just needs to do the one year arbitration thing to get to UFA. These ex-player’s kids seem to be getting excellent financial advice and going this route. They don’t have to worry about getting long term financial security early on, and they are gaming the system best they can. Max Domi has done pretty much the same thing.
-
I’m glad that I’ve never been wrong on here. 😉
-
Why TF would Reinhart want to sign a long term deal with the Buffalo Sabres? In one year he can sign a long term deal wherever he wants to.
-
I added him. Not Jones. Maybe Werenski but probably Dubois. It’s close.
-
I feel like teams don’t trade their best players either though. The NHL is just very conservative. To everyone, when is the last time that a team traded their best NHL player, or their best prospect? I’m struggling. ROR? PK Subban/Weber? Oh, Dubois too.
-
I don’t think anyone even knows if they actually made an offer, let alone what it was. I thought the report was a vague “Rangers called about Eichel”.
-
Agree. Even if we were all spinal surgeons, we have not seen the medical information or examined Eichel. How would we know what’s best?
-
Trades with a NMC are a real mess because basically the player has the right to say no to any trade. Jack wouldn’t actually waive it until he agrees to the specific trade. He could give Adams a list of acceptable teams, he could give Adams just one team, he could give Adams one team but also tell him that he won’t accept it if players x, y, or z from the team he is going to are part of the deal.
-
No one here knows enough to have any clue about whether Eichel should get surgery or not.
-
Schiefele specifically? He has a 10 team NTC. Sabres are definitely one of those 10.
-
This take is like the “this is what I would tell him!” fantasy. The problem is that it is completely unrealistic for so many reasons.
-
I’m sure that most players are tired of the organization and of losing. However, it’s the specific contract situation that Sam is in which basically guarantees he will be moved.
-
Agree, in a sense. The fans shouldn’t be expected to be patient. They have waited long enough. With that said, I think they probably are going to need to wait a couple more years, rightly or wrongly, patiently or impatiently.
-
I can’t blame you for not having trust in the organization, but I think that is in effect regardless of what type of trade they pursue. I do see the appeal of acquire a high quality known quantity. How many of those are available though? I just don’t think a good team is going to trade their 1C for Eichel. So for me, you are looking at struggling teams. How many of them have #1 quality C’s? How many of those players have any youth or term? I’m not very interested in trading Eichel for a 30 year old with 2 years of term remaining. I think if we were to actually go through it, the pool of potential matches is extremely small. I suppose it’s not impossible but I doubt a match can be made.
-
I think Sam is more likely to be traded than Jack. Sam is going walk for nothing in a year if no trade is made.
-
I mean, maybe, but I don’t see why this is definitely true. There are also serious advantages to trading them both sooner rather than later.
-
There are a lot more. Newhook, Krebs, Lafreniere, Drysdale, Askarov, Knight, Lundell, Jarvis, Holloway, maybe a couple other young D.
-
Haha, math.
