  1. Are you sure that he currently isn’t following? A couple people here had a minor excitement a couple days ago. Reinhart’s IG account unfollowed the Sabres and then started following again 10 mins later. Disaster avoided.
  2. I think this was posted somewhere. To me, this doesn’t make any difference. Firstly, anything Hamilton says about Reinhart, I can’t really trust. Second, what Sam wants is going to be very clear to management as soon as they start discussing contract. If he wants a 1 year deal, he wants to leave ASAP. If he is bought in to staying in Buffalo, he’ll be open to a longer deal.
  3. That would probably be in the 5-10 draft range. If the team were to finish there, while playing a style that could scale up and the young guys are contributing & progressing, that’s not soul crushing for the younger guys. Probably for some of the old guard, it would be though. Kind of depends on who is on the team.
  4. Ok I guess. I suspect that Eichel, Reinhart and Risto have their mind made up (even subconsciously) that this isn’t going to work in Buffalo. They don’t believe and have mentally moved on. For me, that’s a reason to move on from them. Although I’m willing to admit that I could be wrong and maybe any one of them can be salvaged (so to speak). So you think Risto and one of Jack/Sam will be back? I feel like losing a lot of games and drafting Wright/Lambert/Bedard/Michkov is not going to turn around the Sabres. Only finding the correct combination of players to be competitive night in and night out will do that. It is possible to do that with a lot of young players, but it’s important to have the right type of guys mentally, and it’s important to have some half decent players with some experience and leadership to keep the young guys boosted up.
  5. What do you mean by “the culture would be in different if they stayed or go”? Sounds like you are say the culture will be the same whether they stay or go. Or are you meaning to say that the culture is bad with them, so maybe trading them will improve it? Easy-Peazy
  6. I don’t know man. What you are saying looks a lot like continuing a cycle as opposed to breaking it. -Trade everyone draft Reinhart/Eichel -ROR sick of losing, trade him, draft Dahlin -Eichel/Reinhart sick of losing, trade them, draft #1 -rebuild with youth, stay pretty bad for a couple years???? -Dahlin sick of losing, trade him???? -Draft Wright/Bedard/Michkov???? Looks like a continued cycle, not a broken cycle.
  7. Could you go into more detail on this? What was the culture like 5 years ago? What is the culture like now? What are you basing your evaluation of culture off of?
  8. Can we schedule the carpal tunnel surgery, or do we need to wait until after 12 weeks of rest? @Thorny would you like a 2nd opinion?
  9. I disagree with the premise. Asking/requiring buy in does not equal rebuilding in my mind. Botterill/Adams/Kruger talked a lot about buy in the past two years and they certainly weren’t rebuilding.
  10. Eastern NY either apparently.
  11. Thanks guys. I live in a bubble, confirmed. That sucks. Seems like it won’t last long.
  12. Ok, I don’t feel that way though. There are teams every year who don’t have a captain. Naming a captain is a long term thing. Sometimes there just isn’t someone that you are ready to make that commitment to yet.
  13. I agree that most everyone would ditch the mask if they thought it was no longer needed. I don’t think anyone actually likes them. That doesn’t mean that people are on the verge of freaking out. To me it seems that people on average are much less uneasy and much less panicked than they were a year ago. I just don’t see the overall mood of the country(s) as at max tension. Things seemed to have calmed down a lot. Where are there actual gas shortages? Have you seen any gas stations with sold out signs? I haven’t. Heard a couple people at work mention this today but that was the first I’d heard about it. Panic buying and grocery store shortages were commonplace for a few months last year. That stuff isn’t happening now. Didnt know anything about a chip shortage until I just googled it. Am I living in a bubble??? Has this stuff been affecting the day to day lives of a lot of you people out there???
  14. Why do you feel that way? Its not an unheard of thing. Let the team grow for a year and if a player shows himself worthy of being the long term captain, give it to him next offseason.
  15. And on May 11th, Robinson hit his first HR since returning to pro baseball. Incredible. Seriously, dude has one eye. Congratulations. I hope he makes it back to the major leagues. Anyone who hasn’t read the links in the OP really should.
  16. Some aged vet who is signed in the offseason? Cozens because he fought two guys? I don’t know. Doesn’t seem to be a good candidate.
  17. To me, if I was trading Eichel, I don’t care what he wants. My goal in the trade would not be exact some form of revenge on him, it would be to get the best deal for the team. Anything else is misplaced effort.
  18. Because he will be 26 next season, he’s due for a new contract after next season, I’m not sure he fits KA’s vision, and I don’t remember hearing anyone rave about him in the end of season PCs. I did say it as a maybe.
  19. If Eichel is traded. I don’t think that the Sabres should name a captain for the 2021-22 season.
  20. Nah, it doesn’t need to.
  21. I think you got off track here. The CDC does not issue government mandates about whether masks are required or not. It’s a medical recommendation. It applies as a guide for people to follow in private settings as much as for businesses in the public. I don’t think people are reaching a breaking point. I think most everyone has gotten accustomed to wearing a mask, even if they aren’t fond of it. It’s just the 1 in 100 who are adamant about not wearing one. With case numbers dropping, vaccinated numbers rising, things slowly opening up, and restrictions gradually lessening, I feel like people are under less tension about all of this than they have been in quite some time. I just don’t think we are at an extremely high level of unrest right now. Not at all. I absolutely do not think that the CDC issued this recommendation in order to avert some sort of societal breakdown. Children do get the virus, and can pass it on to others. Vaccinations for children would be helpful in preventing the spread of Covid.
  22. If Reinhart wants to stay, it makes all the sense in the world to keep him. However, I can’t see anything but a one year deal coming up for Reinhart (especially if Jack is moved). Are you willing to go into the season with him on a 1yr UFA deal? He would help insulate the children, but his trade value at the deadline will sure be a good deal less than this offseason. To me, it feels like Jack is a domino. If he falls, Sam, Risto, and maybe even Olofsson will surely follow.
  23. Should have quoted who it was meant for, Im not sure.
  24. When they say character, they mean toughness/jerkiness/attitude I think Tkachuk is going to speed to UFA just like what’s happening with Reinhart, so I think it would put the Sabres in a similar situation, 2 years down the road.
  25. I would happily take this offer. I easily would take a little less than this. I fear that they won’t receive an offer this good.
