  1. Jack Quinn is probably going to play C in these games. One of only 4 players listed as C. https://cms.nhl.bamgrid.com/images/assets/binary/326131448/binary-file/file.pdf
  2. If I never got snow again, I probably would miss it a little eventually, but it would be a long while before I did.
  3. I think that next season will be about relentlessly trying to highlight those bright spots for you, so I think you’ll get the chance to see them if you want to.
  4. Even if UPL plays pretty well, the goaltending has still been downgraded, everything GA said about the goaltending still makes sense, and is in no way “writing off” UPL.
  5. Can anyone tell me why they would have it on a Thursday night, with the 2nd day I assume being Friday?
  6. “-Someone who starts the season in Rochester but comes up mid-season and sticks around -A minor leaguer who gets a handful of NHL games” I think it’s one of these two. It will depend on how UPL looks and performs this season.
  7. I’m....This is the “other sports thread”.
  8. I’m not in favor of retiring numbers for players unless they are true, best player in the league type of superstars, or at least close to it, combined with a very long career with the team. Retire Miller’s sweater and put it up in the rafters. Honor him, but you can’t just be retiring all these numbers. Sabres already have 7 numbers retired, and they should probably only have two. What are they going do if they ever have a team that is a cup contender for a 5+ year run and/or actually wins a cup? Retire 5-6 more players’ numbers? I think teams need to just start “retiring” sweaters and putting them in the rafters to honor the player, without actually taking the number out of use.
  9. (1) There is hope in change. Simple as that. People have a new team direction to put hope in. (2) Hope that Adams is a good GM who won’t be taken advantage of like what happened with the ROR trade. People grasping at an indication that this is true. (3) Mix in a fair amount of disdain for “entitled” successful, rich, young people. They should be grateful to be in the NHL. Any indication of displeasure can be perceived as a character flaw.
  10. Also, even if the Sabres make a decent Eichel trade, if they continue to suck, your friends will still laugh at you, the Sabres will still be the butt of jokes, and you’ll still feel that defensive inferiority complex. Sabres are not going to ok a surgery that their doctors recommended against just because, “it will make us look good, and Eichel will look stupid instead of us.” That’s an absurd proposal and outside the realm of reality.
  11. Yeah, I don’t want a trash trade either. In fact, I refuse to take a trash trade too! I refuse to settle for it! There, that should do the trick. No one here has wants the Sabres to make a bad trade.
  12. Reinhart for a draft pick and a 7th round goalie. Hoss said I have a year. Take it up with me after that. I’m just kidding. I love Devon Levi. I love show Schitt’s Creek that he made with his Dad, Eugene Levi.
  13. I have a really important question. If I don’t like the Reinhart trade, how long is it acceptable to refer to Devon Levi, not by his name, but as “a 7th round pick goalie”. This is important to me because it helps me to make the trade seem like garbage, and I’d like to continue doing that for as long as possible.
  14. Why trade him for garbage when we could end his career for nothing. Seriously, the goal here should not be to look smart and Jack looks dumb. Who cares? You are constantly so hung up on making sure that other people don’t laugh at you for being a Sabres fan. How about the Sabres just get some good assets for Eichel, win some games, then no one will laugh at you. Until the Sabres stop sucking for 10 consecutive years, your friends will still laugh at you, even if Eichel retires.
  15. Plenty of players make millions yearly. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.thescore.com/nhl/news/1926787/amp
  16. Why do you hate yourself?
  17. NHL players definitely make money from endorsements, but not as much because they aren’t as widely famous.
  18. Not really fair comparison, unless you include endorsements for the non footballers too. But yes, they do make an awful lot of money. In straight salary, Ronaldo is making about $36.5M and Messi about $41M on their new contracts. That’s about the upper limit for footballer salaries. https://www.spotrac.com/epl/rankings/weekly/
  19. Hmm interesting. I wouldn’t think that would be the case. Maybe it’s like thorny says and they are doing something strange with the Covid shortened seasons.
  20. But at the end of these 3 year contracts, both players will have 6 years of service, right? Even if Mitts “first” year doesn’t count, which I believe it does not, he already has 3 seasons after that. If they will have 6 years of service when these contracts end, then they will be RFAs that offseason, 2024-25, but that would be their last offseason of RFA status. They couldn’t be RFAs again in the 2025-26 offseason because they will have has 7 years of service by then. Again, I could be wrong, but this is how I’m seeing it.
  21. Yeah, it would be for a package that looks a bit disappointing at 1st glance. That’s why I said, if no team will give a top tier prospect. They have some cap space, multiple 1st round picks, and their GM isn’t afraid to go for it. To me, if feels more likely than most other possibilities.
  22. I do, it’s 2 years instead of 1. I was just saying that if a player wanted to get to UFA, they can still use the arbitration route to get there, in 2 years instead of 1. I could be wrong, but I think that when their 3 year contracts end, both Mitts and Jokiharju will be in their last RFA offseason. At the end of the contract, they will both have 6 years pro experience. After 7 a player is IFA eligible.
  23. Very interesting. You know, I’m not totally against an Eichel to MTL trade. It’s an option if there really is no team offering up a top tier prospect.
  24. Even if there were 2 years of RFA eligibility remaining, he can still do the same thing. Would just need to do it twice as opposed to once.
