  1. I don’t think this qualifies as antics. He went to a baseball game in his hometown with several members of the Boston Bruins. Get over it.
  2. Sarcasm, right? Eichel’s agent probably told Dreger this.
  3. Lidstrom came to the NHL as a 21 year old, while Dahlin came as an 18 year old. Ages 21-24 vs ages 18-21. That makes a massive difference and it makes for a pretty weak argument.
  4. That’s interesting. I just realized that Novikov is playing in the KHL this season and has such a late birthday. Seems to be doing fairly ok in the K too.
  5. Where is the all star breakout season option?
  6. Matthias Samuelsson says ‘wtf I’m standing right here!’
  7. That was quite a while ago. From around the end of the playoffs.
  8. Basically, no, I don’t think so. I like how Dreger also said how the NHL and NHLPA have been involved for a while, as if it was new info, when it was widely reported that Eichel, agents, Sabres, NHL and NHLPA all had a big meeting like a month ago. However, I do recognize that a lot of this is info for people who haven’t been following the situation as closely as us.
  9. I have to imagine that he was. I know there were reports that he was only sharing with teams that were very interested and putting forth a significant offer, but I doubt that the case is much different now. I don’t think he is now emailing Eichel’s med records to every GM in the league.
  10. Eichel is 24, about to be 25. Your point stands, I’m just being a pedant.
  11. If Eichel was determined to have the disc replacement surgery, how would the union bar him from doing so? They may discourage him from it, but he doesn’t need their permission.
  12. Allegedly, yes, I believe so.
  13. It’s not just that he is getting input from other places. If the Sabres insurance company will not insure the contract, I don’t think that leaves Adams with an actual decision to make. There is no way he can just decide to approve the surgery with $50M hanging in the balance.
  14. Neither of these answers are relevant to the real life situation. This is not simply a case of Adams vs Eichel. In my view the correct answer from Adams’ point of view is: No, allowing the surgery would put the Sabres at financial risk of losing $50M of Eichel’s contract because their insurance will not approve the surgery. I think that it may be just that simple for Adams. He has a job to do and just can’t put his company at that level of financial risk. Also, the owner of the company certainly has a deciding say over this matter. I think this question is more up to the doctors, insurance company, lawyers, and owner before it is up to Adams.
  15. Adams probably does not actually have full authority to OK Eichel’s surgery. The owners would probably need to sign off on the decision. Regardless, Adams could have full authority to do so, but still have many reasons why he does not want to.
  16. What would that help? It’s not going to help Eichel get better, and it wouldn’t help make a trade happen. Isnt that sort of throwing the team doctors under the bus? Hasnt he already said that the team’s position is based on the recommendations of their doctors?
  17. No way. There are never a bunch of people doing Charlie work. Charlie is left to do that on his own. No one even really knows what it is that he’s doing in the bathroom/basement/back alley.........
  18. Is this true? The Sabres would still hold Eichel’s rights after voiding his contract?
  19. The severity of the injury, whether it’s improved at all with rest/time, what symptoms Eichel was/is feeling, probably a lot of other things.
  20. More like 4-5 years. 2017-2020 were the non-CHL years.
  21. Because he is currently injured, he starts in the AHL when he comes back. Gets back to the NHL later in the season and is a quality defenseman for a decade, integral to his team.
  22. I think he’ll have a season that some find disappointing. Low 30’s points, maybe less if he gets injured. I think he’ll look more like a bottom 6 grinder than a star. Long term, I still think he will be a good top-6 forward.
  23. I think he has a legitimate chance to be Buffalo’s best forward this season. I think he is the favorite to lead the team in ES goal scoring. I think he has a good chance to be decent middle 6 forward for 5+ years.
  24. Well, he traded most of them, so.........I guess he was.
