  1. Thank God! I thought they were getting wayyy too cute with those passes. Glad it worked out
  2. This team is infuriating right now. I knew there would be early struggles, but I figured the amount of shot creation would hold me over until they put the pieces of the system together. Right now, the Montreal game looks like a mirage
  3. Just to build off this, I was someone who was somewhat surprised to not see Jack out there in the top 3. With that said, it is up to Jack to leave absolutely no doubt in the mind of the coach to send him out there. Clearly there was some doubt from Housley, and it was probably justified to some extent. I expect and hope Jack changes that perception here soon and earns his spot in the top 3 of shootouts, simply from the fact that he has left his coach no choice but to give him that opportunity from what he's shown in practice/games.
  4. I've had a glass at a local whiskey bar in Buffalo and I was a fan of it. It's a younger whiskey so it has a bite, but I enjoy the flavor a lot.
  5. Hoping to start my whiskey collection soon. Wish List: Tap 8 Canadian Rye Sherry Finish Slane Irish Whiskey Angels Envy Jameson Caskmates
  6. Well, I picked against the Bills and it bit me in the ass...
  7. Rough couple of minutes right here for possession. Very rough
  8. Maybe I'm romanticizing all the new pieces we have on defense... but is it just me, or are passes from the blue liners tape to tape about 60% more often this year compared to last?
  9. As far as the responses to "bend don't break" I agree, based on how you intend to use the phrase, that it can be looked at in different ways. There certainly isn't a right or wrong viewpoint. The way I always viewed "bend don't break" was a philosophy of never giving up the big play, keeping the opponent in front of you, while also being cognizant of the situation on the field. So in practice, this would play out as a team that will give you the 5 yard slant on first down but tackle you before any yards after catch are gained. On third downs, they'll sit at the sticks and force you to throw short of the first down marker and tackle you before you can advance past the mark. It's a defense that may slowly give up yards between the 20 yard lines but once you're constricted in the red zone they tighten up and force field goals rather than touchdowns. I think in practice, this is how Buffalo's defense has played so far this year except that they aren't even letting teams dink and dunk their way down the field. It's more like bend don't break with a hint of suffocating defense in the way they swarm to the ball. As far as the defense's philosophy and the way McDermott uses his LB's, I can't believe our group hasn't been exposed more in the pass game yet. It very well could be coming this weekend, but up until this point I was expecting teams to have chunk gains of 10-15 yards over the heads of our LBs. We'll see if the group continues to cover up that space of the field well enough.
  10. They're 6th in the NFL in yards given up per game at 278. They're hardly bending even
  11. Thoughts: - I love the O'Reilly line. It just seems to click. - Still looking for a little more chemistry from the Eichel/Kane combo. I think Pommer's vet savvy will work well with Eichel. Once all three are clicking, this will be a lethal offensive attack. - Agree with everyone's remarks on Josefson and Larsson - It's clear that this group of defensemen fit Housley's system when it comes to traits. I think the first portion of the year will feature a noticeable amount of frustrating 2 on 1 goals from counter attacks by the opposition while this team learns to cover for each other and improve in transition. Nothing earth-shattering from me, just thought I would put it out there. Go Sabres!
  12. Absolutely. I think he might look "slow" at the beginning of the season as he learns to process at this level in an NHL rink. Otherwise, he looked like a natural fit in Housley's system.
  13. Question for anyone who saw Pitt's goal... would that be called goalie interference in the regular season? If not, would that be a winnable coach's challenge?
  14. Antipin is showing flashes already for sure. Can't wait to see him progress as he gets used to the NHL
  15. For anyone who's a nerd like me, there's a nice YouTube channel of 2 guys (a whisky sommelier and the other a whisky "mooch") who try out a ton of whiskey and give their impressions of it. They do a good job of going through some of the history of the distiller and have some great background knowledge. It's a nice reference if you're thinking about buying a bottle of something but don't know if you'll like it or are wondering how it compares to other whisky that you've tried before. It's called Whiskey Vault for anyone who's curious.
  16. Also, let's make sure we are separating grease from the burger and grease from the fries. I'd say Five Guys' grease from the burgers is almost non-existent compared to the grease from their fries
  17. Yeah, after seeing how they played vs Carolina I can't imagine it being any better against Denver. I think the final score will indicate a much more competitive game than it really will be. Something like 21-13 Denver with a garbage time score for Buffalo
  18. How about this: With Buffalo's inability to stretch the field and open up space underneath, defenses are more likely to crowd the line of scrimmage. Given that Denver has a prolific group of cornerbacks in their secondary, they are even more likely to play man coverage on the boundaries, leaving them the option to leave more personnel in the box. How do you think this will effect Buffalo's offense? Will they attempt to open up the field more? Even if they attempt to open up the field more, will it change how Denver defends Buffalo's offense? How does all of this effect McCoy?
  19. Pats play Houston (Houston has given up 118 yards rushing per game against Jags and Bengals). Of course, Gillislee's value comes in goal line duties and milking games in the 4th quarter. Yeah he was. I kind of feel obligated to play Shady no matter the matchup. Also, it seems like the one time you sit your stud player based on matchup is when he goes off for a huge game.
  20. Alright so Bills-related fantasy football question... My RBs consist of Shady, Dalvin Cook, Mike Gillislee, and that Carson guy for Seattle. The league is non-PPR. I'm really considering putting in Gillislee for Shady. Denver is giving up only 52 yards rushing per game including shutting down Zeke. I could see Shady's day being similar to how it was last week. With that being said, most people have a hard time benching their top fantasy player because of matchups. Also, Shady has historically been much more productive at home rather than away. For example, last season Shady had 770 yards rushing and 11 TDs at home compared to 547 yards and 2 TDs away. So, stick it out with Shady in a bad matchup or pull the trigger and put TD Mike in for Shady?
  21. Surprised at some of the anger towards the Bills performance yesterday. Well, I'm not surprised considering what has been happening since the turn of the century. But, the Bills decision makers have been signaling their investment towards the future rather than the present for a while now. Look no further than the trades they pulled off this offseason. I decided before this season that I would match my attitude towards the team with the amount the front office is investing in them this year. This lead me to being numb towards the outcome yesterday afternoon. For once in my lifetime, a Bills loss can't hurt me. I have my eyes set directly on next year's QB class. That's the mission right now and everything else takes a back seat. Maybe that's a sad way to follow a team but I'm placing my chips on future success, just like team management is.
  22. What if the blue lines were eliminated and the center line acted as the blue line as well? Can't cross the center line until the puck does, but once the puck crosses you're in the offensive zone. I'm bullshitting here and I'm sure there are some glaring issues with this
  23. Grabbed a Wegmans 6er the other night. Ellicottville Fall fest lager: Pretty good for a lager, about what I expected Troegs JavaHead stout: Very good, won't go as far as great. Right up my alley Genny Oktoberfest: Solid. Wasn't sure what to expect but I enjoyed it. Prefer Great Lakes Oktoberfest but I imagine Genny's price is hard to argue with. Hamburg Oktoberfest: Very good. Almost has a hint of orange zest in it? Might just be me. I think Great Lakes is slightly more malty which I like but this is damn good. Woodcock Brothers amber ale: A little underwhelmed. Its not amber in color, looks like a hazy lager. Decent flavor but was hoping for a little more. Big Ditch Excavator: Haven't opened this can up yet but Excavator is one of my all-time favorite beers. I know I'll love it. Also bought a 4-pack of Rohrbach vanilla porter. Another one of my all-time favorites Cheers guys/gals, it's Friday
  24. I can confirm about using real maple. As you said, very similar to using a simple syrup. And the flavor... oh the flavor... unreal.
