I don't mind keeping Ulmark as a good #2. We really need a good #1 if by ownerships own words the goal is to win the cup. I just don't think Ulmark is good enough to get us the cup.

Instead of a drinking game I think I'll do 10 situps every time the sabres score. I'll be fit in no time.😎 -
Is There a Path Forward for Eichel and the Sabres?
sabresouth replied to Curt's topic in The Aud Club
Agree with everything you said freeman. All I would add is giving the C to someone else. Not sure who though. I also also agree with Curt, not sure how you do it without problems. But I actually think eichel would play better without the pressure that comes with the C. -

Management is 100% responsible for not upgrading goaltending in some way. And then they want us to believe when they say we're in it to win it. Sheesh... -
I was on the fence with hiring Krueger. But I was more than willing to see what he could do. But any coach playing a near elite player on the fourth line ought to be fired IMHO. 10 games is more than enough of a failed experiment. Get Skinner up there with some players that can actually benefit him.

Solving the Goaltending Issue - Can it be done?
sabresouth replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Well we aren't going to even sniff the playoffs unless we upgrade goaltending soon. We need an Ulmark quality or better( preferably better) to to even have a chance at the playoffs. I think the poor play of the sabres yesterday is a direct result of hutton. They don't even try because they know he's going to fail them. I know it's not all goaltending. We need better defense but it's easier to change one player at goaltending and make a big difference than two or three defensemen. I agree with Derrico 100%. I'm extremely disappointed that KA didn't address this in the off-season. -

I'd like our chances slot better with a true number one goalie. We shouldn't have to be hoping we win. With the caps having so many out tonight we should beat them handily but our goaltending is a crap shoot so here we are hoping. -

Please, please just get us a starting goalie. Make it happen!! I'm telling you this team will get discouraged quickly with weak goals at inopportune times. I think that happened last year and will happen sooner this year. -

Your not going to win many games when you give up 5 goals ( plus one empty netter). Not that all five goals were hutton's fault but he's got to make at least two more saves than he did. I've been advocating for a new goalie all off season. That was Management's biggest mistake this past off season was not fixing goaltending. -
CDC official covid-19 survival rates by age group. Age 0-19(99.997). Age 20-49(99.98). Age 50-69(99.5). Age 70+(94.6). This is not a deadly pandemic. There is only one age group that needs to take extra precautions. Absolutely vaccinate senior citizens, those with extenuating health risks, hospital workers, police and first responders. But after that it's really just a crap shoot. Everyone else has well over 99% survival rate. I'm over 50 and had covid myself. Yes it was worse than the flu for me by a bit, It kept me down for about 3 weeks. My Dad had it and he's in his 70s and his symptoms were about like a mild cold, lasted barely a week. My point is we can do both. We can get the most vulnerable vaccinated relatively fast and work on everyone else while we get some HOCKEY.

I really agree with your last two paragraphs. When we had those good starts the last couple of seasons the team felt like they could come back in games. But I think it gets harder to keep that up through the whole season and therefore the falling off as the season goes on. Also if I remember correctly one of those seasons the goaltending was really hot for a spell but then fell apart. I think it's really hard on a team to constantly have to bale out the goaltending.
-
Agreed. What do we need to do? Make Ullmark your number 1 and get a good backup. Or use Ullmark as the backup and get a true number 1 goalie
-
I sure hope so
-
We don't need stretches of good goaltending, we need consistently good goaltending. It seemed last year that the team would just start to get going good and then the goaltending would fall apart. I hope Ullmark really steps up this year. But we still need a good backup.

HaHa😁😁

All I know is that I will be very unhappy if we don't upgrade the goaltending. There is no way we can contend in the playoffs with what we have. No matter who we have up in front of them.

Obviously Jbot didn't watch the end of the state of the union address. Where is Nancy Pelosi when you need her.

Yes I agree winning makes it easy to cheer for your team. But like I said we were tied with the Habs in points at that game and they had a whole lot more energy. They've had as many losses this year as we've had basically. I do get Eleven's analogy though of the Yankees. I was wondering if it was something like that. -

That's great glad you got to see them win. We didn't get to go to the Dallas game because we were going to Buffalo. Bad choice on my part. Hopefully they'll win in Dallas next year. -

Not sure where to put this but I think here is a good spot. We flew in to Buffalo last week to watch a couple of games. We saw the sabres play Ottawa. The atmosphere was flat but we outnumbered Ottawa fans 10 to 1. Of course the sabres came out flat after the long break and never really got going. But the Habs game is the one I want to talk about. Coming into that game we were tied in points. And yet close to half of all the fans there were Habs fans. When the teams came out for the warm ups the Habs fans were standing 2-3 deep and had signs all over the glass all around their end. The sabres end only had 20-30 people around the glass and only one sign up at the glass. During the game the Habs fans were louder and more enthusiastic for their team. Again we were tied in points coming into that game. Obviously I don't live in Buffalo, these were the only games I've been to in Buffalo. I have gone to 3 games in Dallas. (They are always enthusiastic for their team as well.) We have lost all five games I've been too... I guess I will take one for the team and quit going to the games?. But a serious question. Why is there no energy and enthusiasm for the sabres? I know that I'm not happy with the state of the team at this point but I still will watch all their games and root for them to win every game. I guess I was just disappointed in the lack of enthusiasm at the games I went to. Seriously I would like to know what you all think is the reason for this. I listened to the clip of Duane's. I wish upper management would do more as well as ownership. But I support the team and always want the best outcome every game. -

Three pipes and a goal that should have been, with any kind of puck luck we win this game. Good game, not terribly disappointed, half expected a turd, woulda really liked the win though. Keep the momentum going. As stated earlier 4 points in their last 3 games.
