  1. As suspected. And the most damning bit
  2. No, it’s formulaic. It’s hard enough to make up any ground at all with excellent drafting. Pretty good is barely value gained, relatively. You can’t draft your way out of it.
  3. …one younger…and far more powerful.. You will not stop me. Darth Staal will become more powerful than either of us!
  4. I’d also take Staal in the role over Adams tbf so either way I’m set if there’s a succession plan
  5. Ya I just don’t see Staal commanding the respect necessary or having near the experience required to be the voice in the room that would come along with “GM.” He’s a glorified intern trainee at this time. If there’s a succession plan, it’s Adams to POHO, Jarmo to GM But it’s the sabres. So who knows right lol
  6. We have a chance to finally not hire a first time GM and we’d install a completely green Staal in the role? No chance
  7. Too bad if it’s not this summer. You are probably right about that aspect though. Just trying to see how this settles in, still, honestly. Can’t decide if I’m comfortable with it yet re: removing that conflict of viewing interest I have mentioned, personally. It’s certainly a good move. Whether it’s satisfactory for me I’m still deciding
  8. I honestly don’t even think about goalie upgrades. We are going on 6 years now it’s just not an area Adams addresses. I guess with Jarmo in the fold I should at least start considering the possibility If we see a substantial move, it’s likely due to his influence
  9. Is it? I’m mostly just trying to make myself feel ok about it all But yes that’s what I’m hoping for - the jarmo is in essence already GM. He takes over and Adams gets bumped up or he takes over and Adams gets bumped down
  10. Adams’ goal is clearly to lose more nhl games in the nhl as a GM than he suited up for as a player The idea of Adams as an NHLer at this point is like trying to envision a stupid Albert Einstein: very unnatural
  11. I think the deal was that if Adams can successfully hire his replacement they both stay (Adams “up” to a more behind scenes position, Jarmo to official GM), otherwise there’s a total shitcanning at end of year
  12. I agree. The lack of pulse Adams has had on his own roster every year has been shocking It’s like no information has been relayed and he hasn’t attempted to glean anything
  13. We can hope for a similar end result
  14. Agree. Vader wasn’t really on Tarkin’s leash, was he? @DarthEbriate The Emperor is of course another matter but I digress
  15. At his most press conference he looked a defeated man Most recent, even @That Aud Smell
  16. Ya. If you need the C to lead you are no leader at all. If Jarmo is the most fit to steer this ship he’ll be the one doing the steering It was either on Friday or Stanksturday
  17. I think the alarm went off already some time ago and he even used up his allotted snoozes
  18. The more I think about this, the more it feels like Jarmo is essentially the shadow GM. Adams mannerisms didn’t line up with a guy still in charge, really. This guy has the experience…I think he’s the guy the non formalization at this time is merely pegula antics to save face
  19. Agree with one minor adjustment edited in
  20. How can you not yield your argument today when the thread is filled with positivity? At the very least relatively so? Your argument that “no one is ever happy” is wrong. demonstrably so. Me, I am never happy. But..look at the thread. Sabres fans are a brilliant shining light for reacting THIS positively to a *senior advisor* hire after RETAINING THEIR ENTIRE FAILED STAFF and missing the playoffs 5 times, this year sitting last in the east for the majority. i have to restrain myself from delivering “vomiting” emojis to every post that alluded to Jarmo being here because this is Adams “last chance”. Are you KIDDING me? That was the last two years if already the overwhelmingly positive reaction in this thread doesn’t prove the fans WANT to believe you aren’t looking hard enough. “how long until the dumb fans want him gone? Hurgh hurgh hurgh.” As if the fans don’t know how to appreciate something good when they have it. Dude we never have it. We won’t want him gone if we actually win once
