I actually get a good level of catharsis when I read the “I’d rather miss the playoffs” posts. Like actually seeing it in writing I get reassurance I’m not insane in thinking it really, really is easportsgmmode for some. The team and its assets are like a collectible item I just want to win lol. Maybe you have to be born in the 80s or earlier, I dunno. I just view sports differently. I’d have a lot of fun sharing wins with friends no matter how they come. it’s not even about the playoffs anymore. It’s about the fact we aren’t even a part of the league anymore: the 82 game seasons don’t matter. Don’t care what the style is for those games if the games aren’t in the realm of outright NEGLECT anymore

I don’t really only view on roster talent through the prism of offensively talented snipes, though. I get what you are saying but I don’t think people at large have a very good grasp of the fact that talent only matters relative to accumulating points in the system the nhl has constructed.
