  1. I'm with you all the way on this one. After the last 2 years it's so awesome to be watching NHL hockey again from this team and being happy when they win. I'll worry about results next year, this year I'm enjoying the ride and the excitement generated by our newest players.
  2. I think the rule on this should be, you call for a review as soon as it happens. When play stops review it. Don't have some dumb butt idea of calling it only after a goal is scored. Swamp where I have my biggest disagreement with you is either it's an offside review or not. If Ennis in this case doesn't score, they never would have reviewed it, play would have gone on as if nothing happened. Call for an offside review immediately or live with the consequences. That technology exists today, heck they've used a push button on Jeopardy for years.
  3. Hopefully that means he'll be in the games very soon. The defense has actually been much better as of late, his presence could really help out. Has there been any word on E.Kane??? Wasn't he originally going to be out 4-6 weeks, if true, he's been out close to 3 weeks now. If that 4 weeks threshold is true, he'll be ready soon also.
  4. Another nice job on the GDT WildCard, thanks
  5. With Bogosian out so much with injuries and Kane also, it's hard to say the Sabres are the winners in this trade but although I'm not a big +/- guy, Stafford and Myers have the Jets worst numbers for a forward and Dman. I haven't seen any Jets games this year so it is really hard to tell but when healthy I think Bogo and Kane are the best 2 players in that trade, a win if they ever see the ice again
  6. I'm not sure it matters all that much but if I was to change anything, I would flip Nick and McGinn because I think Foligno and McGinn are better in front of the net so when Legwand goes on another breakaway, maybe Foligno or McGinn can set a screen on their GK and freaking Legwand can possibly score a goal this time. Rant over, back to work.
  7. Brad May also called him out showing replays of Tampa's scoring plays between the 1st and 2nd periods. It appeared to be a total lack of effort to get back into the defensive zone. It seemed like his effort was better in the last 2 periods so the LBI excuse doesn't hold up to me. Just IMO
  8. No real issues with what Qwk noted except Ennis was atrocious in the first period, ZERO defensive effort, 2 of those goals were directly related to his lack of effort. And Gorges is softer than my Charmin in front of the net. He wasn't bad throughout the rest of his game but he lays way too much responsibility to Risto to clear the net area and constantly makes our GK's look worse for wear because of it. Eichel earned his money yesterday. Legwand????? 2 breakaways, either one could have been a game changer and are we putting Vasilevskiy in the HOF?? My goodness we can't seem to score on this guy. Rant over. Back to work.
  9. Not if he wears the new brand of athletic knit underwear!!! Not if he wears the new brand of athletic knit underwear!!!
  10. No they're not, tied for last place with the Blue Jackets
  11. Wasn't that a David Lee Roth solo video, I don't think the VH's were involved in that one.
  12. I thought it was Rainhard, oh shoot that was the Texas weather report :( Sorry
  13. Agreed about Ullmark Actually what was not stated was this was the 4th game in 6 days in 4 different cities and especially 3 games in 4 days, their legs had to be weary and they still looked the fresher team in the 3rd period. A pretty impressive victory, plus teams are watching the tape and I don't believe they are being overlooked anymore and they are starting to get a feel for what we do. Again a pretty impressive victory for this team IMO and a confidence builder.
  14. Only 3 points out of a playoff spot!!!!!!
  15. Very nice win and what was better about it was everyone is happy about it...... Now that's a change also
  16. With a little luck, they hopefully are looking past us after yesterday's nationally televised game versus the Caps. They have only scored 16 goals is 9 games but at the same time they have only given up 17. With the 3 big named players on that team are they really turning into a defensive juggernaut??? Go Sabres.
  17. By the way, that was an awesome post IMO!!! RJ's best game of the year. I'm not sure if he's getting healthier or what but he called a very good game yesterday. As much as an institution as he is, he's been shaky at times this year. The Briere ceremony was a very nice touch
  18. In my haste of posting a comment from work, if I offended someone..... that was not my intent. Although I still think Moulson is over-rated...
  19. I'm not sure what your infatuation with Moulson is but he hasn't done squat this year so far to warrant playing on the top 2 lines and I might argue top 3. He's a couple of years away from playing with the Islanders and as far as I'm concerned his 25-30 goals per year stats are in the rear view mirror. Good guy to have on the team but not a top liner anymore.
  20. I realize you're not the only one spouting this train of thought up but it makes no sense to me whatsoever. As far as I can tell Kane's tasmanian devil play is keeping the opposition from concentrating on Eichel and is keeping him from getting any cheap shots thrown his way. The kids still 18 years old and although his skill level is thru the roof, I think he needs Kane's zaniness and physical play to help him along. Besides he may be the only guy on the team that can skate with him. The sheer speed and power of these 2 together forces the other team to play a very conservative game against them. I don't see them getting split up anytime soon. I think once they fully gel together there's going to be an explosion of scoring from this line.
  21. I agree with you and a few others, even in a loss they are much more fun to watch this year. 3-1 and I'm still watching the game, the past 2 years it would have been nap time for me. Not just Speed (of the players) on the ice but speed of play is what is so noticeable to me. I almost forgot what it's like to watch the Sabres attack. Although I think Foligno is the most improved player on the team, he was almost invisible, he only played 9 minutes. He did all the work on that McCabe goal. I must be missing something with him because I was pretty confused by his lack of playing time. Could it be we have too many quality forwards?? Someone mentioned Bylsma's teaching/coaching, kudos to you sir because in 4 games the difference in style of play is almost mind boggling compared to last year. Negatives to that game, 2 stupid penalties to open the game by 2 vets who should know better. What an awful way to start the game and Jagr, he's been playing so long, didn't he cheap shot Maurice Richard one time??? 2 goals to a 43 year old.....UGH. Lost the game in my opinion on what I'll call Special Teams, we were 1 for 6 16% they were 2 for 5 40% on power plays, we need to get better at both.
  22. Well a good start for him, scored a goal in his first game back for Prince Albert last night.
  23. Did they need to waive Donovan before they sent him to Rochester?? The Guhle move seemed like a no brainer but they must see something in the kid to keep him for as long as they did. It will be interesting to watch his development over the next couple of years to see how he progresses.
  24. I agree with you that if he's getting 12 minutes and up he stays here. If he's getting less or sitting in the press box, he needs to go down and PLAY. I don't think the only thing he needs to work on is power and strength. Whatever the coaching staff decides is what he'll be asked to do in Rochester. Every guy is different, you can't make up some scenario because J.Drouin did it. Who cares what he did, the team needs to make a decision on what is best for the development of Sam. If that means he goes down until he's ready to play 15+ minutes a game. That's what they should do. Anybody who's been involved in competitive sports knows that people develop at different rates. Because one guy is physically ready at a certain age doesn't mean everyone should be on that same course. Just because you're at one level of development doesn't mean 3-6 months later you're not at another either up or down for that matter. Just because he's not the best player on the team right now doesn't necessarily mean he won't be 18 months from now (wouldn't that be sweet).
  25. Mark Pysyk won't be going to Rochester anytime soon because he's playing too well and the future is his. Handles the puck better than I thought also.
