  1. With Dahlin, Power, Samuelsson and Johnson all either here or about to be soon, I just don't see a place for him but I agree I wouldn't just throw him out. He may along with a draft pick should be able to get you a decent RHD which we are short on now and in the near future. I'm also kind of tired of the Dmen who can't move anyone out of the slot, unless someone or he gets move to the right side, I just don't see a long time future for him here.
  2. I can't agree with you more. I'm a bit baffled by the angst in this thread, did anyone expect anything different this year?? On top of a lack of talent on the present team you take out 3 of your top 8 players and this is what you get. This is what you can expect this year until the Olympics/trade deadline is done and you'll start to see next years team with the players you mentioned plus Samuelsson and Tuch. This team isn't going to turn it around until the 23-24 season and then you start to put expectations on this franchise, until then you're just living in a fantasy world that this is a playoff team or could be if only Cozens and Dahlin would miraculously develop faster. And yes I've been watching the team the past 10 years also and for the first time I think they're finally on the correct path to redemption.
  3. With this trade we're back to where we should have been in 2015 before we traded all our draft picks. I may be too optimistic but a future lineup of and you can mix and match them anyway you want Skinner-Cozens-Tuch Asplund-Mitts-Olofsson JJ Peterka-Krebs-Quinn Grigs-Thompson-Okposo/??? Power-Dahlin Samuelsson-Joki Johnson-??? With Rosen, the Russian kids, Weissbach, 3 1sts plus a high 2nd rounder in next years draft plus a boatload of available money to spend, the future looks pretty bright to me.
  4. I understand your point and I agree with you, I just don't think any one game is going to be bigger than any of the 82 other games they'll play this year. It will be how the organizational refurbishing turns out in the end.
  5. There aren't any big games for this team this year. It's strictly a developmental year.
  6. That Calgary trade scenario probably isn't as far off from a realistic deal as you might think. Are we getting enough for a healthy Jack?? No but he's not healthy and you're taking on a 2 year cap dump with Monahan and a 1 year cap dump in Zadarov. Monahan will allow you to put Cozens in Rochester along with Zary and Pelletier or put him on the wing temporarily plus you'll have 3 1st rounders and 2 2nd rounders in next years draft which supposedly is loaded. As the Sabres team comes back to reality this year, you'll be able to move any and all of Miller, Butcher, Pysyk, Hagg at the trade deadline for more picks. Doesn't necessarily help us right now but gives us time to develop some of this talent we have that aren't here yet. I'm not a Zadarov fan either but it also helps keep Samuelsson in Rochester to develop further plus he also can play both sides so he'd be useful temporarily.
  7. I quoted @dudacek about Thompson, so I was talking about him
  8. He has Centered a line with if you include Skinner's 2Gs last night has 23 points in 9 games and is a +13 in +/- in those games. If that is the team's 3rd line moving forward, they could do worse. It may be time to give this guy some credit for a nice year so far. A little puck luck and his point total would be up also. Did anybody really expect this to be anything but a transitional/development year for the team?? If you did you thought wrong. Mitts and Olofsson aren't going to save this team when they get back but it will up the forward talent level. The defense also has been giving great effort but until Samuelsson and Power join the team they have too many guys who can't move guys from in front of the net which I think is going to hurt them going forward and besides talent level is their biggest weakness.
  9. Mine to but the Boston/Florida game is playing, l just verified that Currently watching World Series
  10. It’s on NHL Network They changed it last minute from Jets game to Bruins vs Florida
  11. Sausage?? What's a sausage........ Ooooooooooh Kielbasa, Jak Se Mas Brat
  12. I hadn't thought of that šŸ˜€ but one's wearing it at Michigan and one's wearing it in Rochester. Quinn's chance will be if he gets called up before the end of the season before Power moves into the lineup
  13. So who will get #22 with the Sabres, Quinn or Power??
  14. If l’m not mistaken the away games they do from home watching the action on a tv, cost cutting moves by Sabres
  15. Some of the benefits of retirement, it's never too late and it's never too early to do anything. Monstrous Weiner. LETS GO BUFFALO
  16. My expectations for this team was to be entertaining, they've been that. Is this winning percentage sustainable probably not but if they've proven anything so far this season, they're not the worst team in the league and you can call Granato the Sabre whisperer.
  17. If you had told me with Joki out that the defense would be as stout as it's been I wouldn't have believed it. It kind of cracks me up how everyone/most have a favorite player that you forgive their misplays and an unfavorite player that you never see anything but their flaws. The Miller-Bryson pairing has done quite well so far IMO. In fact all 3 pairings have had their moments this season. Huh???
  18. Some interesting stats after the 1st 6 games: Colin Miller is 2nd on the team in minutes played and is 2nd in scoring The Girgensons-Okposo-Eakin line has won 58% of their face-offs 61 out of 105 taken They also including Caggiula have 12 points total and are a +9 in +/- The Anderson-Tokarski tandem have a .946 save % and excluding the empty netter have only given up 10 goals total Bryson leads the team in power play points Dahlin-Miller and Butcher lead the team in TOI per game Olofsson-Thompson and Asplund lead the forwards in TOI per game So far we're entertained
  19. If he has nothing to say why egg him on to say more nothing
  20. Couldn't have said it better. I have to admit the 1st game and the letter has me full in again. My expectations for this year is to be entertained and make me a believer for the future of this franchise. Long season but at this moment I'm in again.
  21. Nothing better than a nooner, yes I know it's 1pm for you but it's a nooner for me in Central time. If I start on time at my age I should be ready for opening face-off. LETS GO BUFFALO
  22. There will always be a spot for a C that can win a face-off on the PK in their defensive zone, EAKin is not playing to score. I like R2 also but he isn't a C in the NHL. Price isn't playing, Montreal played Toronto last night, there's a good chance they left their load in Toronto and are overlooking the Sabres. Thompson will either make this game/season entertaining or doom us to failure. Speed is our friend. LETS GO BUFFALO
  23. I'm a bit confused why anybody would care or waste energy on this. It doesn't matter who they name or don't name for that matter that will mean a hill of beans as to how this season will play out. Is there anybody on this squad that's a sure fire thing to be the best player on this squad in 2 years and lead this team to the promised land, nope. Girgs and Kyle are the longest tenured Sabres and vets on this team, let them keep the A's and hopefully someone will step forward by the end of the year or next. For that matter who cares who's lines everybody is on or what Defensive pairs are put together, does anybody truly believe the right combination of guys will get this team to the playoffs?? Hopefully we'll be entertained and that's the best possible outcome for this season IMO.
  24. Dang, news I can use plus the yankees lost, this is turning into a great week for me.
  25. The difference from being a high jumper to a pole vaulter, no doubt
