Dubois got Laine and Roslovic, do you really think Jack won't get a bunch more than that?? And everyone knew Columbus was getting rid of him also. DuBois isn't in Jack's class. Now Risto and or Reinhart to Calgary might make sense but you don't give Jack away without pulling up a U-Haul truck for the return. Best bet is to get him out of the conference so you'd only have to deal with him twice a year. First thing though is you have to make the effort to win him back and if that's an impossible task you don't move him until someone fills that U-Haul truck to your liking and if you're trading him it'll be better to get a young players return as opposed to trying to win with a vet who will not want to stick around until the team is ready to win

He was fired midway thru last year because of personal issues, he was 60-43-10 in his 1+ years there and was the one who started their turnaround a couple of years ago. He followed up Hitchcock if I'm not mistaken.

I'm still a bit confused as to why Vegas dumped Gallant. So that's a flag to me. You know who might have interest and isn't spoken about on this site is Jim Montgomery, had a couple of personal issues (alcoholism) which had him fired but if he's truly turned it around and it appears so in St.Louis as an assistant, he actually did a very good job in Dallas, @Doohickie might have an opinion on him that I don't know about.

Will Jack's Role On This Team Be Different Next Year?
jsb replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
Couturier will be 29 later this year. I guess what I'd like to see if you're going to trade Jack is to get younger mainly because the speed, youth experiment seemed to work at the end of the year and this is the direction we should have used 5 years ago instead of picking up pieces that didn't work. Figure out what/who your core is and build a culture off of that, quit bringing in mercenaries Hall/Stall/Eakins who have zero stake into turning this franchise around and who come primarily for the money and want to leave the first sign of adversity the team has in that given year. To me this team's young guys have bought into whatever they're trying to build, build on that and quit adding pieces that have zero interest in staying around. -

My main issue with that trade proposal is that Couturier will be 29 this coming season, you're going to trade Jack for a guy who's about to slide into 30?? So you don't improve next year and then you just impaired your future when you hope the younger guys come around. Myers is also a RD which of course is exactly what we need more of π -
Oh please don't vote for me after what I said about this thread!!!

Gee whiz this thread sounds like what I would imagine goes on in a gay friends with benefits meeting. I'll play though, @Doohickie gets my vote.

As for Cozens, he plays a physical game and I think he's just worn down and beat up right now. Which should translate into him training extra hard in the offseason now that he knows what's needed to play in this league. All signs point to him being a worker bee so this years education should help him moving forward. I wasn't impressed with Murray, seems slow even at his size but it was only his first game so we'll see

Yes and that line got crushed.

Will Jack's Role On This Team Be Different Next Year?
jsb replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
If he's back it will be interesting who's on the team and what the lines might look like. Stats from March 29th on are as follows with the famous +/- ratings included: 22 games each except where noted, why 3/29 because this is when the turnaround started. Reinhart 19 points -6 Casey M. 16 points +3 Victor O. 11 points -3 Dahlin. 11 points -4 Tage T. 10 points -1 Risto. 10 points -1 Skinner. 9 points. +1 Asplund. 9 points +/- 0. 20 games Cozens. 7 points. -9 Bjork. 6 points. -4. 14 games Skinner-Reinhart-Olofsson line with 39 points with disclaimer of some on PP. While the ATM line with 35 points with a +2 rating. Is it possible with a couple of guys (Cozens possibly being 1 of them) to play with Jack that we actually for the 1st time in years have 3 lines that can score?? Do we stick with the young guys and get a couple of GKs or do we blow it up and start all over again?? As for Casey M., I always thought he'd eventually become a player but never in my wildest dreams did I think he'd do it this quick, what an outstanding pass to TT yesterday and also one to Asplund that he unfortunately didn't convert. I think even @nfreeman might jump on his bandwagon sooner than later. He's now 1 point behind Dahlin for the 3rd highest scorer on the team. As a side note for all the Risto bashers, 1 point behind Dahlin and a better +/- than he has also. But alas he sucks. -

Dunleavy "expected" to return next season on new contract

The old timers started off calling the games on Radio. They had to be more descriptive for you to have any idea what was going on in the game. The newer guys came in during the TV era and I don't need to listen to someone blabbering on when I can see what's happening. Hockey by the way sucks on radio. When I've tried to listen only, I usually have no idea what's going on besides what the score is. The game is too fast to describe and RJ has the advantage there not only because he grew up on radio but he has the grandpa aura that who cares if he says it right or wrong, he's f'n grandpa. Every new guy has the distinct disadvantage of unless he's following a complete bozo he's going to be disliked and compared to the legendary grandpa RJ. Rob Ray would be useful pre and post game with Marty but as a color guy he's not that good and I like Rob32. -

Have we not learned anything these past few years?? Who are we going to choose to blame for our horrific record after Risto is gone? The blame for this team falls squarely on the Front Office and not ANY of the players. You don't trade Risto until someone else wants Risto more than you do. We've wasted plenty of draft choices on vets who were destined to save us, ROR, Kane, Hall, Stall, Bogosian, Fedun, Miller, Montour & Scandella. ROR Stanley Cup Winner, Captain and #1C on a playoff team, Kane leading his team in points and goals, Hall suddenly has resurrected his career with the Bruins #2 line, Stall playing for a playoff team, Bogosian won a cup with Tampa and was playing on top team in North Division, Scandella playing for St. Louis, Fedun yes freaking Fedun played on Dallas' Stanley cup finalist team, Miller came from Vegas, Montour now on a Florida playoff team AND who do we have on the roster to show for all those guys on playoff teams, Bjork and Thompson. Who most of this board wouldn't give a rats behind if we didn't protect them in the expansion draft. And now you want to trade Risto with that historical record of assets gained by this team's Front Office?? Please just stop this non-sense. This team is where we should have been 5 years ago by playing the young guys and letting them learn on the fly until you can make a decision on who to add and subtract going forward, you don't sign high dollar players in free agency until you know you're ready to compete. At the very least get something of equal value back for the asset when traded. I don't trust this team to do it.

It seemed to me to be mainly about the wingers to add to Mitts & Cozens' lines as opposed to the possibility that Reinhart may have won the 2C spot with his recent play and the recent discussions about it.
-
Yes but this one's much more interesting and up to date ππ
-
And you have the Ruoster on the bench?? Personally I think he's earned a place on the team.
-
Assuming we're keeping most everyone currently on the team, who are our C's starting next year. I'm starting to think Sam is going to stay at 2C. So we have Jack E., Sammy and Mitts or do we put Cozens at 3C?? I'm thinking Cozens' speed matches up better with Jack and keep Rasmus the Rooster as their lineman, Sam, Skinner and Olofsson on line 2 and Mitts and either Asplund or Tage as one of his wingers and trade Risto to acquire another of his line mates. I think Mitts needs a better finisher with some muscle on his line. What say you?? I noticed this getting some play in other threads so lets discuss here.

I warned these guys about this stuff in another thread, USE AN EMOJI for this kind of shenanigans. I picked on @Thorny I believe but obviously there's a lot more of his kind around here than even I imagined. π

Musical Weenies LETS GO BUFFALO

I feel like the messenger that just got fired upon π. My opinion would be if he did say that to the Sabres hierarchy that still wouldn't go over well with them if he then said it on TV.
-
Well Boudreau just said on an interview on NHL Network that the Sabres late run is fools gold, so I'm guessing he's out of the running. Praised Ottawa for playing hard all year. Not that I agree with his assessment but that quote can't go over well in the Sabres FO.
