More so KO than Girgs. At least Girgs can skate. KO is a smart guy, I would think he realizes he can’t keep up with the pace of play. After getting his 1000th game he should do the honourable thing and ask to be load managed.

It’s hard to come up with a positive vibe after last night’s sh*t show. All I’ve got is that the Leafs D is fragile as well and they will probably trade chances so it will boil down to who gets better goaltending and how well the scorers are creating. I’m looking for Cozens to get out his funk and just go north south in a foul mood. Like the players, we need to put last night behind us. That is tough to do when you leave a stinky mess on your own bed. Let’s go Buffalo!

Girgs has the speed to be effective on the rush and gets in quickly for the forecheck too. KO gets caught from behind and pinned in the neutral zone, he’s not even getting zone entries. He can play dump and chase but he struggles to pressure the D. If they gain the zone, he can still help the cycle game due to his strength and experience. Everyone raves about the PK and it’s probably not a coincidence that KO and Girgs are no longer key components of that unit.

I think UPL deserves this game, he has earned the net because he is on a roll. Levi needs to earn some ice time so he gets the B2B second game. This gives Levi one more day to rest up from his injury. Levi grew up in Montreal, probably hates the Leafs and goes beast mode tomorrow. I got a similar reaction, probably anti Mitts. I agree that you probably can’t get him under $6.5M if he keeps this up. He will be an example of staying hungry and working hard to play to your potential before being rewarded. KA has gone the other way with the core, except for Dahlin.

Yes, third party team would get VO or Lebanc for 1/4 of their $, which brings way more teams into play. Cap hit would be just over $1M instead of $4M, which only a couple of teams can take. Retaining on two guys is similar to a buy out but you get an asset back. The league would probably close this loophole after this deal.

I guess that’s why he’s the GM and I’m not. I watched UPL in the OHL quite a few times as well as the WJHC so I realize he has potential. I want to see consistency at this level in order to start believing in him. I think Levi is the man going forward but if UPL continues getting better and these two battle hard for the net that will be a good thing. 1A and 1B scenario would keep the wear and tear factor lower and you go with the hot hand in the playoffs. Playoffs?

VO had a few of those last year, they counted toward his 28.

If KA can lock up TNT, Cozens and Mitts for less than what Toronto pays Matthews and Tavares that is good management and solidifies the C spine for a long time. Those contracts can also be traded if need be. The 3C, whether Mitts or Cozens will be well paid, but they are top 6 players who can play wing as well. The cap is going up and I don’t think there will be a problem with the next wave of contracts. VO, KO and Girgs replacements will probably be making less and there are a lot of ELC guys in the hopper.

Interesting idea to make VO more palatable. Both players need a change of scenery for sure.
