The Elephant In the Sabres' Room: Fixing the Power Play
French Collection replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
Moving the puck more quickly will help. I would like to see Tage move around, if they are covering his one timer move to the net front for a few seconds to screen the goalie and confuse the D. Move to the bumper position where the threat of a shot, dangle or pass can confuse opponents. Then back to the left dot. Find open ice. I like the idea of Mitts handling the puck below the goal line, he can draw coverage and eyeballs while someone finds a soft spot. Tuch’s only purpose on the PP is zone entries, try him as a net front presence. JJP could be an option for zone entries and right dot shot. They have to try something other than the Dahlin drop pass to TNT/Tuch for entries and moving the puck around the umbrella up high. -
I know. I’ve been back and forth on this but my gut always says no to Kane. The only way I want him is if they move a couple of forwards out in an upgrade move at G or D.

Wild get Bogo for a 2025 7th round pick after they dealt Addison to San Jose for minor leaguer Haska and a 2026 5th round pick. https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/minnesota-wild-acquire-zach-bogosian-from-tampa-bay-lightning-for-2025-seventh-round-pick-1.2032964

I agree they are evaluating some of these guys. I don’t see much of a return for VO but maybe San Jose or Chicago could use him to help with their scoring. Same with Bryson, Johnson could stick around or go back for playing time when Mule returns. Stillman could come up and be 7D in that case. Whatever can be had for VO/Bryson is OK with me.

It’s a good thing to have many C prospects. They can move to wing if there are better centres available. I think Östlund is the only high end prospect that has been exclusively a C. Savoie, Kulich and Wahlberg have all played wing. Cozens and Mitts can play wing as well if any of these guys end up being better C’s.

I, like all of you cheer for the regulation win. When the game is close or the Sabres are outplayed I hope they can hang on in the third and at least get a point. They have lost a lot of games by 1 goal in regulation the last few years and every point matters. Tampa is ahead of the Sabres by 3 points but they have only won 6 games. They have 4 loser points.

Interesting. The last bunch of NHL Cup winners were first timers. Cassidy, Bednar, Cooper, Berube, Trotz, Sullivan, Quenneville, Sutter, Julien.

The kid is 4-5 years away from the NHL, Greenway will be over 30 by then. -
I would rather give Savoie a crack at learning the NHL game than watching VO have 4 giveaways and lose every puck battle and generate sweet f all. Good God he needs to go. Sabres need to play hard and at least get a loser point. They should get the next PP and they need to capitalize on it. No complaints here about UPL’s game so far.

Just saying that Pronger made room for himself more by vicious stick work than dropping the gloves. Maybe Cozens can add grit in a variety of ways instead of winning fights.

Interesting take. Kulich and Savoie can play C or wing so that may come into play. Two of those pairs were developed in Rochester while the others have a few years of junior together. Cozens has been good with Quinn & JJP but could work with WHL alumni Savoie & Benson. Mitts could work with either of those pairs. Kulich and Rosen could use a guy like Greenway or Tuch. I can’t wait for Quinn to get back and hopefully he can build on last year. I thought he could get 25-30 goals in a full season.
