I find they have been going east-west way too much except for JJP. This probably is a factor in his his bump in production. Tuch is best when he utilizes his size and speed to zoom up and down the wing, forechecking the D into errors. TNT is one of the worst offenders of slowing down in the neutral zone to dangle. Skinner has great edge work but he should use his speed to gain the zone first or draw D to him and dish to the open teammates.

They’ll have to make changes and it could succeed through committee. VO may actually have a spot again but shouldn’t be the go to, just one of the threats. Mitts running things below the goal line or bumper? Tuch or Cozens in TNT’s spot or net front? Dahlin firing pucks through and guys crashing the net?

Personally, I feel disappointed enough from the season to date that I am trying to stay somewhat even keeled. I really enjoy Sabres hockey but too much negativity creeps into my everyday thoughts. I want to be entertained and it takes a competitive team to do so. A competitive team means being in most games and being in the hunt for a playoff spot. If they can do this through this tough stretch, the Sabres and myself will come out the other side better. I really don’t have any solutions other than dig down find a way to compete for 60 minutes. That includes KA perhaps finding something to create a spark and DG finding a way to get these guys chomping at the bit. I still have a few doses of hopium left, 48 years has depleted my stockpile, but the best before date is still valid.

Well, they have a huge challenge now. This is a point in the season where they pull up their work boots and find the inner resolve to work together and win as a team. Find a way to stay in games to get a point or two to remain within reach of a playoff spot. Tuch will be back, Tage will be back and so will Quinn. KA might move someone better than Bloom for someone better than Stillman.

Don’t rush Tuch back, they need him for the long haul. It is now time for the White horse to put the team on his back. Well, now is the time to change up the look of the PP.

Congratulations to Kyle, 1000 games is not easy. Tough test, show us what you are made of Sabres. I want to see wins, every game. This is not possible but at the very least I want to be entertained. That is achieved by providing an effort for most of the 60 minutes to compete with your opponent. This has happened far too little this season, make it happen tonight. Let’s go Buffalo!

Tomorrow night. If DG keeps putting KO on the PP someone will eventually bank one one off of him.

This is one area where he can help, on the ice and off of it. He has tons of experience with PP, what works and what doesn’t. He can be a PP guru just like EJ has helped the PK. He has probably been watching closely the Sabres and the rest of the league and has some ideas.

Same. I’ll cheer for him as a Sabre but I’m not a Kane fan. If he leads the Sabres to the promised land I will bow down to KA.

He’s signed for three more years, he can be a 4th liner down the road. Pretty expensive for that role though. I still like the grinder, Cup winning angle.

Yeah, $4.9 M for three more years is a lot for a 32 year old. Depends on who goes the other way. Krebs, VO, Joki? Retention? If he has gas left in the tank though, they could make it work.

If there is a deal with Calgary, can you please get Coleman as a gritty vet that has playoff experience? Oh, he also has a Cup ring.

Imagine the bump Wenatchee gets with Savoie and probably Benson going back. I think these two will be driven to make themselves better and drag that team deep into the playoffs.

There must be someone nearing a return from IR. Biro? Benson? I guess the one game was a quick view thank you because the plan was to send him back regardless. Benson has a few more (3) games before a decision is made on him. I expect him to go back too. Kulich and Rosen may get auditions soon.

He is bringing me some Peter Forsberg vibes. The lighter version, of course. Forsberg was a beast to get the puck from and was primarily a playmaker.

These guys were the go-to PKers last year, probably reflective of last season’s lousy PK. It would be great to see Krebs, Rousek or Jost be able to target PK skills as an avenue to ice time and trust. It’s good to have 4th liners who are good at PK because I would rather have them block shots than TNT, Tuch and Dahlin. Quinn’s return can help the PK, he has shown some ability in the past. He has the IQ to make good reads and the stick skills to kill the play.

The Sabres have improved in scouting since KA took over. I think Östlund has NHL potential and that Strbak was a nice 2nd rounder too. The one issue I have with recent drafts was Leinonen. He may develop into a good goalie but he shouldn’t have been taken that early.

I would send him down for another stint to get top minutes. Next injury on D, he comes back and stays in a rotation while Bryson is waived. Bryson’s salary will probably deter other teams from grabbing him, so he goes to Rochester. Bryson, Stillman and Clague come up to Buffalo as needed. Bryson’s buddies will have first hand experience that RyJo is better.

While Quinn has been unable to work on his skating and legs much, I would think his upper body work has added some muscle. He will probably take thousands of shots once he is strong enough for that. His high IQ game will be a noticeable asset upon his healthy return. I don’t want him rushed back, this is a major injury and the team is improving on their early season results.

I just watched DG’s post game interview, he made a point of patting Rousek on the back for his attention to detail. This is a guy who could become a 4W to spell KO once in a while.
