Sabrespace Help Guide For Kevyn Adams
French Collection replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
I have OHL season’s tickets so I think I could make a contribution to amateur scouting, I am after all an amateur. We all have ideas as armchair GMs, we could have made better and worse decisions than the last two guys. (I know I would not have drafted Nylander.) With a solid mentor, a few people with “expertise” in some areas, a good leader could probably have done better, we will never know but the bar is pretty low. I’m willing to give Adams some time and hope he is a good leader and has the cojones to pull the trigger when needed. Other GMs may think they can take advantage of him and he could play that card to get a gem or two. I guess the last few paragraphs belong in another thread but my fingers were running... -
Scouting Department Returning to Video?
French Collection replied to WildCard's topic in The Aud Club
Unfortunately, there are not many fancy stats available at the junior level for an analytics dept. to process. Junior teams have limited resources and will be in a more difficult situation if they cannot play or sell tickets. I guess your analytics guys could watch tons of video and compile their own data. Central scouting also compiles lists and they could use that as a starting point. -
Let’s revive the Anthony Cirelli talk. I know he would be pricey but why not aim high. Tampa will probably be in cap hell and lots of their guys have no trade clauses so you never know. Another early playoff exit could force their management to part with players. Everyone seems to rave about Stevie Y building that team and he did assemble a Strong group but he left before the consequences of having to deal with handing out NTCs like candy are a real problem.

Not exactly a replacement for Pilut, they need one or two LHD. This kid has been improving over there, I hope he comes to Rochester and keeps developing.

Just finished my daily lottery spin on Tankathon. We got him first with the first attempt.

Thanks for this. I love Rossi and have watched him live this year. He is really good and I would like to see him available at 7, if the Sabres remain there. He seems solid enough for 5’9”” and can work on his strength to compete at the next level. The video scout’s opinion is that he may be ready for the NHL this coming year. He may be lower on a few boards because of his Austrian passport he hasn’t been exposed to a lot of best on best world class hockey.

Also reminded me of Carol Vadnais.

OT - What are you doing to pass the time
French Collection replied to FogBat's topic in The Aud Club
I’m going to watch the 3 game final series of the ‘87 Canada Cup, Canada vs USSR. All three games were 6-5 with two of them being decided in OT. Gretzky and Lemieux on the same line, magic. My son can’t believe all the hooking and holding in these vintage games. I love his reactions, especially to the interference. -
Love these. Taylor Hall’s barber used a bowl for a template. Marchand still looks like a rat.
-
Ryan Suzuki put up similar numbers before being dealt from Barrie. Foerster doesn’t wow me with his game but he produced on a weak team as a 17 year old. He should definitely be a second rounder. He was their go to guy in the few games I watched. He could light up the OHL next year if they get him some support.

We laid out a nine hole, par 25 golf course around our property. We use one club and whiffle balls. Old tires are the holes. This was actually a lot of fun. -
Greatest Russian/Soviet NHL Player?
French Collection replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
I took Fedorov because of his all around game and the fact he played centre. The guy was just talented. Ovechkin may be the best pure goal scorer, ever. I think Mike Bossy may have been better but was limited by injuries. Ovi’s physical element is another huge plus.. Bure was the McDavid of his era, just blew by guys. Datsyuk was a beauty to watch, silky mitts with a Selke attitude. Had he played the bulk of his career in the NHL, Tretiak would be in the mix. -
Sportsnet article about Mark Scheifele’s thoughts on some other players. He thinks Eichel is the league MVP in the sense of value to his team. https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/jets-mark-scheifele-says-sabres-jack-eichel-deserves-hart-trophy/

I went with Burnaby because he could instigate and fight. Playfair is my deterrent, as his name suggests. He could also play.
-
Miller is my choice as well. He played at a high level for more years in Buffalo than any of the other guys. Other than Dom, my favourite goalie was Don Edwards.
-
I love old pictures like that. The following year Perreault scored 121 pts in 54 games vs 97 in 54. He also did it without those two line mates.
-
The Jr. Canadiens played in the OHA that season, the OHL predecessor. The QMJHL did not exist yet, and whatever Junior league they had wasn’t enough competition for the baby Habs.
-
Tardif spent the bulk of his career in the WHA, where he put up some crazy stats. 666 points in 446 games.

Half and half. One side we dug down a few inches to make the court level with the driveway. The other side (lower) is lawn and we built the sand up a bit and will plant grass to prevent erosion. -

My wife, son and I finished laying down 2’x2’ patio stones to make a basketball court. He was tired of dribbling in gravel. Hardware store delivered a pallet for us and we have plenty of sand. Cutting, splitting and stacking firewood is the next task. -
Dale Hawerchuk is recovering from his battle with stomach cancer. https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/hall-famer-dale-hawerchuk-completes-final-round-chemotherapy/

Picked Connolly for his pure skill. He had magic hands at his peak. Andre Savard was my choice in the second box for sentimental reasons. My wife’s family grew up near him. He could play a solid two way game. His skill set would be ideal at 3C for the current team.

I think Wif Paiement wore 99.
