That makes a lot of sense, it's just whether Chiarelli believes he's what they need to fix their defensive woes. Getting #4, and having #8, would allow us to take Tkachuk and whatever D falls. I would love that situation.

Trouba is a much more physical presence than Barrie, but for what we need Barrie is definitely the better fit albeit another RHD. If we're moving for a younger D (RFA), Bogo has to be included I would imagine.

I can see why Nylander is appealing and BPA is probably the most plausible argument for this area of the draft. I just look and see the teams that win year in and year out and its based on mobility in defense, fluidity of transition and that championships are built on the health and depth/strength of your defense. Nylander would make a lot of sense for sure. I don't even dislike him as a prospect. I will look more at Dineen...maybe my focus has been so limited on the D at the top of the draft. Girard is scrawny as can be. Eh, I want size and strength in the D core. We have Guhle and Nelson for the finesse D.

Did the league really fail to improve revenues and attendance that much that the cap should fall. Bettman needs a GOT usurping like Ramses Bolton does to Roose. Ugh, just another reason to hate Bettman and his boring loathsome self. This and the NMC garbage with the pending expansion draft. Why don't you handcuff GM's more. I know that there are extenuating circumstances (the fluctuation of the Canadian dollar etc.), but this is just crap. Buffalo may not be as hindered by the cap crunch, but how are you going to tell teams near the floor to add salary, when so many other teams are in cap crunches. I may not love the Boston's of the world, but that's just harsh.

It just makes no sense to draft Nylander over Chychrun. I just don't get it at all. Chychrun has more value IMO.

Lots of good interviews between Friday and today from the combine. I was impressed by Tkachuk, McAvoy, Juolevi, Chychrun.
-
Go Chychrun or Juolevi or bust!
-
Honestly, Makarov wasn't long for Buffalo anyways. Kasdorf, is all but assuredly in the AHL next season and the back up job is all but set between Chad Johnson (if retained), Linus Ullmark or another NHL quality back up. He was assuredly as well to be passed on the talent pool by Cal Petersen and Johansson.
-
There is some sense to it. Juolevi may not be the fastest, the most skilled or the flashiest, but he plays a solid unnoticeable game. His passes are right on, and he skates well. He reminds me a lot of a younger Timonen. Again, this is only based on the eye test. Stats may tell me I'm wrong. Chychrun just has the boom appeal, and I love what I saw in his speed, transition game. He does have a bit to work on just like any of the top 3-4 D.

I truly think the best part of that trade are still yet to play a significant game: Compher and Meloche. However, yeah that's true.
-
I think Lindholm would cost an arm and a leg. I don't see him being moved out in Anaheim, whereas I could see Vatanen moving in the right circumstance. Barrie miiiight go that light, but I think it's short a piece. Franson, Zemgus, #38 and Bailey? Maybe. I just cannot see Roy/Sakic trading Barrie for a deal with Franson involved, maybe for Bogosian. Maybe I'm wrong and they are that functionally stupid.
-
I could easily see 50, not sure about 60. But it's not impossible.
-
He gets beat to the outside by a D with speed. He's a physical presence, but he doesn't stay on the ice/durability. There are things to like, but at 5M +, if you can get someone to bite, you do it and run. I would rather trade Bogosian than keep him long term.
-
Bogo + Foligno + Baptiste for the deal :)
-
I agree with that point as well. He's a complete RHD. He's got more room to grow into his offense and he's still getting all the things down. I would totally lock him up for 8 years.
-
Definitely a big improvement. I wouldn't mind a Barkov jersey in the Ekblad style of the shirt.
-
Well I would be looking at drafting one of Chychrun, Juolevi at #8, and then moving back up for Jones. That was the way I was looking at it. I'm great with Dineen, Niemelainen, Hajek, Cederholm at 38 for sure.
-
I would be moving up into the teens to grab him. IMO. I wasn't expecting him to last to 38. :P I love his tenacity and his ability. I think he can be more than a Tom Wilson for sure.
-
There is not a whole lot of difference between Fabbro, Bean, McAvoy, Dineen, and several other D from the upper 3. However, there is raw talent that may equivocally bet he difference. It's getting closer by the day! I cannot wait! Either way, if we select a piece for the near future or trade it for hopefully a (Lindholm type young piece) draft day will be exciting. Drafting Chychrun and trading up to get Max Jones is still my realistic dream. Though Tkachuk proved again the ability to produce when all the cards are on the table!
-
Meh, over Chychrun, just no!
-
London takes it 8-3. ;) A personal guess!

I wish they could break that he signed at the draft. I know that this is impossible as he is Tampa's property (his rights) until July 1st. But, man the Toronto fans would explode. That would deflate their Mathews buzz a little bit and make me that much happier. Now I don't care where he goes: Buffalo, Detroit, Vancouver, etc. But it would be amazing to see the Laffs fail in that case!
-
Maybe that pushes Brown to have a breakout year like Thornton had. :P Unlikely, but the thought naturally crept to mind. Brown is a good soldier but is signed way to long in terms of the pact.
-
My belief is that Enroth would be more appealing due to his play in the West than Johnson (who has more natural size) in Buffalo. All things being equal $$ says Enroth is going to cost more.

As long as it doesn't start with Rick and end with Nash, I'm good. I don't want that once great Nash, turned into a shell of himself.
