I think it just depends on what happens this year. If the right deal comes a long to add a young piece for a cap team and we can also move on from someone, then do it. Otherwise continue to purge it and bring in additional depth. Adding as much talent as possible is the key!

For NYI, the guy I feel worst for is Bailey who signed his extension with the notion he'd hopefully be playing with JT91 for the foreseeable future. However, he signed and now will likely slot in with Anders Lee with Barzal.

UPDATE: Sam Reinhart signs 2-year extension -- $3.65MM per year

Two years, 3.5-4.0 on a bridge. -
Not any longer our Justin Falk, is a UFA. Which is great, I don't want to see his idiotic exit passes and slow skates in cement any longer.
-
Absolutely, Scandella is the right sort of mentor for this group. The next pragmatic cast off to go should be Bogosian ?
-
They can receive mentoring from Sobotka, Hutton and others in the room?
-
It will be a win if we can some how move Berglund with other assets for an upgraded piece as a salary component. On WGR, Jeremy White brought up 1st, 2nd Berglund and Nylander for Skinner. I think I could be okay with this as Skinner provides speed on the wing, addition by subtraction and to be honest the fact that Nylander didn't skate at the camp and questions being dodged around him, proves he's out of favor. He'll be traded by the deadline IMO.
-
I don't want to fire him, but this trade sucks. The salary involved, average meh depth, having to take back both. I get changing the room, but blah.
-
w.e it's over with, we can move on now. I hope Botterill gets asked. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?
-
I mean Allen has to basically become the Islander goal tending. They'd have to lose Tarasenko, Schwartz, Parayko and Pietrangelo for the season.
-
We can now officially be called a perpetual whipping post as well.
-
At this point, I'd add a pick onto Bogosian or any one of these contracts just to get them out of here.
-
If the Blues finish in the top 10 next year, the league should fold in on itself like black hole.
-
That was perfectly said. I'm hoping we can find a positive solution out of at least one of these contracts.
-
Well Larry is terrible, so I guess if you're looking for a slight means above that, okay they're upgrades. I'm not a fan of Berglund and his re-signing a season ago was hilarious. Now he's our problem.
-
Moulson and Pominville are done next season. We just found their replacements for cap purgatory.
-
He's not good. I cannot stand him as a player and he's underachieved his entire career.
-
Exactly the picks are fine, and Tage Thompson is fine. But, adding all this unnecessary cap, should have been St Louis' problem. Not ours. Now we have to look at getting rid of Pominville. He has NO PLACE on this roster.
-
To be honest, I'm not really that worried about this. Do you know how many forwards excel in the CHL and then come to the NHL And under produce. Look at Ty Rattie and countless others. I do agree with you to a degree that another "Prospect" was needed. See Alexei Toropchenko or someone in that ilk. Tage Thompson fits the mold of American centermen and he brings a good bit of size and strength.

We gained 150K in cap savings. This is what is FRUSTRATING to me. I find it completely unacceptable. That's where I'm frustrated, I get taking on one of the two players. Berglund hasn't been a particularly strong players in 3-4 seasons. He's a bottom six forward and a terrible replacement on the wings. I'm hoping we trade him immediately.
-
He's better than an extra forward, but I hear your point.
-
Here's hoping Berglund or Sobotka are elsewhere in less than a years time. Berglund is continually injured, and to be honest, he's not that great.
-
I cannot stand the Berglund and Sobotka part to this. I think one is enough, but two...asinine. That should have been a secondary young piece (Toropchenko or someone in the secondary end of their pool). The 2nd in 2020 is also a bit terrible. I like the 1st and Thompson part, but to be fair the contracts we had to take back are frustrating. Overall, this had to happen at this stage. I hope we can get one of these forwards out of here.
-
Not sure why we should have to take back Sobotka. Personally, I'd rather not add anything we don't want back in the deal.
