  1. Congrats to Evander for getting the money he was looking for. San Jose really was the perfect situation for him to be insulated by a roster with the veterans that can just allow him to be "Evander". So congrats! This also gives us extra ammunition for moving up, and adding more to our barren wasteland.
  2. I doubt Nylander starts with Buffalo. He looks terrible in decision making, his two way play is questionable and to be honest he doesn't shoot enough. He needs to get stronger and learn the systems needed. Right now he looks like a BUST.
  3. Trade, keep in AHL and 3rd/4th line energy wing.
  4. He's not the same player from two to three seasons ago. Honestly, if that's all you can get out of Carolina in an offer for O'Reilly or anyone of substance, I'm moving on happily. He's a Yandle with less two way game. Yes, Yandle is a solid defensemen, but would you honestly give up something critical on this team for that. The easy answer is no.
  5. MUST HAVE MORE SIGNINGS! ;)
  6. Meh, here's hoping they lose the next 4 straight. The Capitals are one of the most top heavy teams in the league. If Tampa Bay cannot defeat them than it is an injustice.
  7. Time to move on from Bogosian. He's unreliable and we don't need to waste another 30 games waiting for him to come back only to then injury something else. Good player, useful player, good person. However, unreliable and it's time to move on after 3 seasons of B/S injuries.
  8. Traded, traded, bought out. It's time to move on. We've seen what we've seen. To be honest Girgensons is the only one that I'd be okay seeing back. However, when you have chances with someone as talented as Jack Eichel and you still cannot produce, than we know what you are. You're a bottom six energy forward who lucked into a 20 goal season due to a lack of talent base. Larsson, it's time to move on from to me. There is just not enough speed and results. At 1.4 million in cap we can afford to give another player a chance. While he is sometimes useful in PK and in the face off circle, there is not enough speed or utility to maximize him. We can give the spot to a different option. Bogosian is a useful player, but how much longer can you give a player before it's just time to move on. He's reached the end of that. If you can move him, great, if not buy him out. We need to see other players in that spot to fill those minutes.
  9. Nashville or Winnipeg winning it is fine for me. I'm fine with Tampa as well. I don't think Washington has a chance to win the cup.
  10. This has been a post on several other places I look. Karlsson is 28, has one more year on his contract and then will hit the 9.5-11.0 million dollar threshold. Erik Karlsson will not make this team a playoff team next year. In addition, it continues to cripple our financial floundering. Trading a controllable asset who has unlimited upside and shows more "tools" than Karlsson to me is a joke. There is ZERO guarantee that he'd even stick around (Karlsson). Unless they take Okposo, Bogosian, Moulson and Pominville and still return Karlsson, White, and other assets it makes no sense. This team is going to be outside of the playoffs next year again. Unless something drastically changes, or they hit on every single situation next year.
  11. One player will not fix the monumental hole in the line up. Our wings are garbage outside of Sam, who will definitely take over on the RW permanently now. So yes, one player can improve the tempo we push the puck out of the zone and will have a trickle down effect on the rest of the D in the line up to make it a less pressured situation. But, looking at the Sabres, it doesn't look or feel like a playoff roster. If you think they can get even to the 10th spot ...I think that's a stretch. We'll see in August what the rest of their off season looks like before I get that hyped up.
  12. Smart move on both sides to continue to see Casey have a shot at permanent success in the NHL. With the excessive amount of LHD on the roster, it's helpful to have the extra RHD who did show some presence in PP and even strength moments. This also pushes Tennyson to the AHL for good. (I'm hoping!)
  13. Johan Larsson, is the worst player on there by a mile. He had to be a fill in for a fill in for a fill in. Probably the best hockey writing I've read in a while. It gives a full detailed report, and it's awesome that this is our co franchise face with Eichel. Now if Ullmark can just become a better starter than Lehner!
  14. The city that God forgot. LMAO. That's such sweetness.
  15. Depth is depth. Adding it is what this team needs to create, to force both play and competition and every level. The defense in this organization in the past few seasons has been a joke. To be blunt. This is the draft class to go D, D, D. Depending on BPA and what falls.
  16. 7.5 on Carlson, then what 4-5 on Reinhart, that takes up a bit of the 18M you're talking about. Now there could be more cap if / when Moulson, Bogosian, Pominville are looked at possibly as collateral buyout candidates. I still cannot see justifying paying all of that on a roster that wasn't even a sniff at the wild card round past November 15th. This team isn't ready to jump that far, that fast. There are fundamental flaws involved in the forward group, goalie play, defensive scheme and multiple other fronts. The coach may not even be the right fit. I would say if we were closer to 8 than we were 14 in the Eastern conference that Carlson makes a lot of sense.
  17. We get our top end player, and that's no slight on Eichel. It's our turn to get the number 1 pick in a draft class that we so needed it. This franchise has been showing up for underwhelming hockey for 6 years. It is a market starving for progress. Look at when Eichel sold out the Harbor Center in minutes.
  18. I'm pretty sure he won't be a Sabre come preseason camp. He's not a great fit long term in the direction the team wants to go. He'll easily be replaced if / when Asplund or Davidsson comes over IMO. As well as the fact that there are likely to be options in UFA that we can go after. I still think you look at anything and everything, the malcontents in the room need to go. This b/s about giving up on the season, is not acceptable. I get that it's difficult for a pro to go through 2-3 seasons of this, but it is unacceptable. In no means am I say take O'Reilly's first offer, but if you get something that sheds cap and you cannot refuse it, you have to listen to the possibility. The same goes for Risotalainen.
  19. Neither, draft and develop. If you really want to go all in on defense, trade back up into the first round to procure someone like McIsaac, Wilde, Woo, or someone in the middle to tail end of the first round that you feel is a good fit. Develop them properly. The only way you're signing Karlsson or Carlson is if you've traded O'Reilly and possibly Okposo, or you've bought out Bogosian.
  20. And for a late round pick I will take a 3 - 4 year peak of Ales Kotalik. That man was quite good for a short bit of time in Blue and Gold.
  21. The structure of the team runs through Eichel, O'Reilly, Mittelstadt, Rodrigues / Asplund etc right now. Also, Reinhart is not going elsewhere. The defense does need to be stripped. Starting with Nelson, Antipin, Guhle, and if we ultimately choose to ship or keep Ristolainen. The rest of the team needs to be stripped IMO.
  22. Awesome to see Vegas doing what I had questioned and that was succeed in playoff season. Well, they're about to knock out one of the teams I thought could handle them in the playoffs. GO KNIGHTS!
  23. 1: This depends on the market to me. Not trading half of my team for Karlsson, and Carlson is re-signing in Washington or going out west. 2: 1: Dahlin, 2: Zadina, 3: Dobson, 4: Svechnikov, 5: Boqvist, 6: Tkachuk, 7: Bouchard, 8: Wahlstrom, 9: Hughes 3: Daniel Sprong from Pittsburgh 4: Calvin de Haan, LD 5: Riley Nash 6: Cale Morris
  24. Holy sweet jesus.
  25. The only way I'm trading him in division is if it's detrimental to the core of Montreal. It is going to take Poehling, 1st in 2018, 2nd in 2018 or 2019 and another piece. It's going to hurt them to make this deal. If we're going to purge, then purge all the way. Burn it out and make it a clean break. For all those that are sitting here talking about Ryan O'Reilly, I understand how important to the team. That he is the best two way player. However, in order to tear down the roster, you have to include pieces other teams want. Okposo, Bogosian, Moulson, Pominville, Beaulieu have zero value. Eichel, Reinhart, Mittelstadt, Scandella you aren't trading. That leaves, O'Reilly, Ristolainen, Rodrigues, Bailey, Baptiste, Nylander, and other secondary pieces.
