Mike Trout is far greater at baseball than McDavid is at hockey. Maybe in five years that won’t be the case for McDavid, but Mike Trout is going to end up a top five greatest baseball player of all time, barring injuries. McDavid isn’t there yet. I would say Max Scherzer. He’s absolutely dominant, takes home a bunch of awards, and he’s been the best at what he does for the past five years. But he’s not a top five greatest pitcher of all time.

That’s not why I’m defending it. I’m defending it because calling people racist who aren’t racist takes away from what actual racism is and is incredibly harmful to dialogue and discourse. Not to mention that people who hold prejudicial views can overcome their ignorance. But not by calling them a racist.

Prejudicial statements are rooted in ignorance.

If anything his first statement was prejudicial, which =/= racism. Racism has prejudice in it, but prejudicial statements do not make a racist. You calling people racist is just as harmful towards dialogue as blanket statements about basketball players.

I like the deal but just wanna make sure I have this right: Miller has good fancy stats as the most protected defensemen in the NHL and will be fine taking on more responsibilities without having it change his fancy stats too much. But Risto would not have his fancy stats improve from taking on less responsibilities and moving on from being the most overmatched defensemen. Because he is who he is at 24.

Playing two and a half seasons in the AHL is the same as playing in three AHL seasons. Unless you’re just getting more specific, I’m not sure the point you’re trying to make. He didn’t stick in the NHL year one and two, year three he did.
