I get your cautious optimism and share a guarded approach to proclaiming any as having arrived, but I truly believe some of what you are seeing is a kid who is used to making choices between where to go with the puck, and those choices not being there. He and McCabe are developing that it where each sees the same play and creates a safety valve for the other. Work in progress yes, but promising.

Flagg you would have had a entries for your Jack scrapbook. He pulled of a beautiful toe drag and had a another explode to the middle move that you don't see but from a handful of players. Nothing to complain about. Hot team and we get a point. Jack is just a tad bit off on shot placement but his jump and one step explosiveness is creeping back. Our defense looks like NHLers and not amateurs. Samson needs a spark and Dlo needs to go but all in all a good outcome fkr the second of a back to back.

Isles blew an opportunity to bury the Hawks last night. They'll be motivated. Whether that makes a difference we shall see.

Jack has the best retrieve skill of anyone on the team. After the pass to Okposo didn't connect Jack stopped below the goal line and fed Kaner for the goal. He does that alot and generates offense for himself and linemates. I don't think people appreciate how "dirty" those areas are and Jack wins a lot of battles.

The sound of pipe and crowds has a nice seasonal feel to it. Is a Hattie too much to ask for?

Eichel, ROR, Risto, and Nylander are the current untouchables. Reinhart, Okposo and M cCabe are expendable if you are willing to overpay, and by alot. The rest are easily replaceable and should be considered placeholders in the event a better option comes along. When you think of recent contenders, usually 4 sometimes 5 forwards get the bulk of playoff toi. For defenders it is 3 maybe 4. After that the cap dictates that you have a few vets taking a last swing at a cup, and up and coming youngsters on elcs . I'm not sure we have our 4 to 5 forwards and 3 d identified yet. Everyone else is a chip in the stack to be used as necessary.
