  1. Holy crap! That is awesome and hilarious!
  2. So this is where the conversation and action ends every time. There are some factors. What do we do about them? Then shortly thereafter another mass shooting occurs and it's the same conversation from the beginning with no solutions.
  3. The Mets :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: At least it doesn't appear that I'm going to have to clear a bunch of time to watch the MLB playoffs. At least they choked after clinching this time!
  4. Wow! Really? I thought there is only a small percentage that still think that was a good idea. I'd like to hear more of that story.
  5. I'm betting pharmaceuticals have saved more lives than they've taken. I'm betting guns have taken more lives than they've saved. But that's just my heart and nativity speaking for me. I've said all I can say, there's many factors in this epidemic, but pharmaceuticals are a minor factor if one at all. There's many more prevalent factors that have been pointed out. And with that I relinquish my spot here in the mass shooting conversation. You guys go ahead and figure it all out. I'd certainly appreciate it!
  6. The islanders gave up picks and prospects. Nothing off their NHL roster. You're probably right that we're developing and not expecting much this year. I'm just saying if that kind of deal is there make it, instead of someone else doing it. We can both compete for the playoffs and develop players. They're not mutually exclusive. Now are those kind of deals out there? Probably not, but if they are I want to be involved and not settle for what we currently have on D.
  7. We'll have to agree to disagree. I'm not ready to blame something that helps many people function in life that otherwise wouldn't be able to. And guns have gotten more powerful, deadly, and available to everyone, so that's a little disingenuous to compare guns throughout history to now. Maybe they're mostly under 30 because of the steadily increasing glorification of violence in America over the last couple of decades and an economy that leaves many behind and hopeless?
  8. Leddy and Boychuk are Messy Balls? I'm talking about replacing this year's possible version of Messy Balls if we have a chance. Coco and Donovan. Cocovan? Dococo? Donoco?
  9. Maybe a gun control advocate, but I wouldn't use the word "consistent". http://www.ontheissues.org/celeb/Hillary_Clinton_Gun_Control.htm There's many issues that affect people's lives and health such as poverty, the environment, healthcare, etc. Maybe they shouldn't have "come off" the drugs? They're prescribed for a reason. The underlying issue is there prior to the drugs or they wouldn't have needed them to begin with.
  10. I think this is a distraction and I've heard this conspiracy theory a few times. Of course crazy people have usually been medicated at some point in their lives. They are crazy with or without the drugs. The drugs didn't cause it. Do drugs always work or do people always take them when they should? No, but the underlying condition was there first.
  11. So does he make $4 million per year in the AHL now and come off of Chicago's cap?
  12. Why not go for it if we can? I don't want to be in the bottom five of the league this year if we can avoid it. That sounds a lot like the last two years, but our personnel is much, much better, especially on offense. If we're bottom five again this is going to be another long, wasted year. I realize it could happen, but it doesn't have to be a "throw away" year and I'll be a bit disappointed in our GM if he's idle while we waste another year. We have our tanking prizes, now let's move upward as fast as we can.
  13. Yes in game 7 of the first round of the playoffs. I'd take at least that after what we've been through the last couple years.
  14. Similar in that we're potentially good offensively, but could use some defense. We're going to have alot of guys developing and meshing this year, but I don't think that and being highly competitive are mutually exclusive. I'm talking about upgrading/replacing Coco and Donovan, not anyone important to our future, like Pysyk.
  15. You're right, I do hope it happens. If only we had what we have now a year ago....
  16. Agreed. My favorites as well. And they're on local tv in Columbus for the first time in a very long time this week, so they'll look great in HD
  17. Well it must be since he does indeed keep digging.
  18. I'm still advocating for an Islanders-type trade to ease someone's cap burden and give up very little assets in return. See the trade speculation thread. We are similar to that Islanders team and a solid D-man or two could make us more likely to contend now. This doesn't have to be a "developmental" year for the franchise. I'm hoping if it's available we do it. Even if we have "too many" defensemen when everyone's healthy, we could use the depth since I think we're going to be dealing with injuries all year based on the early indications. 2 of our top 4 are already "week to week". Rosters around the league are being finalized now, so now is when something like this could happen.
  19. You and I disagree fundamentally on what the job of a "representative" to Congress is. I say the job is to "represent" their constituency. There are plenty of politicians supporting Kim Davis and I'm sure there's plenty of Kentucky politicians as well that support her. So your argument that this somehow makes Bernie "not being ready for the big stage" is severely flawed and totally inaccurate. You're also saying Hillary is better on the issue of gun control? I tried to find what her positions are on it and apparently they were one thing in 2000, another in 2008, and yet another in 2015. She isn't even being challenged much in 2015 on many issues, including guns. I can't wait to see where she ends up landing on it and many other issues. That famous Clinton triangulation depending on what the situation warrants. This issue and many others are not winners for her. And it's easy for Obama to promote "single issue voting" since he's done running for office and about to enter the banquet and speech tour phase of his life. It's not practical or likely for many voters to do that. Keep digging Joe!
  20. I think Bernie's lifetime F rating with the NRA speaks loudly. I also agree with Robin's Egg that I'm not going to agree with every vote my favored candidate has cast. Do you propose that he shouldn't have been thinking of Vermont when he cast those votes during the time period that he represented the state in Congress? Keep digging Joe!
  21. Wow, you really need to look at the mass shootings data. This is reality, it's not a media phenomenon..
  22. I know! I know! Because mass shootings are increasing in frequency since 2011. I'll provide the link later when I'm not on my phone. Your stats may be right, I haven't checked, but mass shootings are getting worse even if homicide rates are going down. They're apples and oranges. edit: here's the link (from Mother Jones, but a Harvard study) http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2014/10/mass-shootings-increasing-harvard-research
  23. I'm basically talking about a cap dump that falls in our lap. A major move as far as personnel, but a minor move in regard to assets given up ala the islanders. I want a trade or two like that where we get quality cap dump assets and we solidly compete this year for the playoffs. This season could be much more than developmental with a good trade or two. Let's Go B-Lo tells me there's a chance. I'm hoping it happens!
