Bernie Sanders announces his candidacy for 2020. IMO he is currently the best chance the DNC has because of the support he likely maintains from 2016. The foundation is there where as the other Dems have to build their national support outside of their constituents. However, I think the old man is jumping the gun. The other Dems are building the lowest foundations of their base. At some point they will focus on each other. I think he’d be better off letting them establish their own messages and tear each other apart while avoid the political firing squad. Essentially skipping the side show, using his national support to gain access to prime time debates later and coming in later in the game while giving Dem opponents as little prep as possible. I have this feeling Biden is going to do the above. Call me crazy but I think he will pick Michelle Obama or Kamala Harris drops out and becomes his running mate.

Maybe GMTM was well aware of all the issues. He comes in and promotes a fast rebuild and knows he has to back it up with action. We get dazzled with move after move which creates false hope and stops us from researching how these moves affect us. GMTM knows if he makes Lehner get help it goes public. Cats outta the bag our rookie GM used a first to get a tainted goalie. I wonder if TP found this out and it was part of his decision to fire GMTM. Total loss of ethical confidence.

Does this team miss Berglund more than we realize?
SABRES 0311 replied to matter2003's topic in The Aud Club
I’m not even being sarcastic but what exactly did Berglund do when he was on the ice? He quit on the team for some reason and I don’t think anyone is sad over it. Just saying if your absence is not a big deal then neither is your presence. Life lesson. Be remembered for something you did or forgotten for everything you didn’t. ? -
Watching VGK and COL. During the power play they used the behind the net camera angle. This is by far the best angle during extended zone possession. It really lets you see what is happening. I wish you could switch your tv feed between camera angles.

I think we all thought he would put the team on his back and carry us to the promise land. That is far from happening but in fairness he is not surrounded by the same players Sid and Ovi are. I have been as or more critical of Jack. A point of contention is his lack of shooting confidence and how he disengages from physical play. We don't have three bad lines. Larry's line plays physical and can generate zone time. We have two lines good at what they are designed to do and two lines that don't do much of anything. We come back top the middle six problem.

I agree they have dirty, whiny players. It just seems like refs this year are missing clear calls league wide. Or maybe I'm just paying more attention to refs lately and it only seems like this.

Smith-ERod-TT should be entertaining. Three guys who work hard and can score. Looking forward to seeing them try to create. I expect Yandle will pull his crap again by targeting a smaller player. All I want is someone to respond. I don’t care who it is just do something. Here’s a novel idea, go after him first. Ride him hard into the boards, Chirp him, show no fear.

U.S. Indo-Pacific Foreign Policy
SABRES 0311 replied to SABRES 0311's topic in The Oval Office (Politics)'s Topics
War is one way to do it but not necessarily North Korea versus someone. A civil war would create a power vacuum South Korea could fill. Their people are hungry and abused. The meetings could simply be Trump’s way of ensuring NK doesn’t do anything to hurt his polling numbers on NK. But it’s been so long since NK seemed to highlight the news hour. I think he really wants to see this through if for no reason than to show it can be done. -
Donald J Trump, your thoughts on his Presidency
SABRES 0311 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Oval Office (Politics)'s Topics
Too many people take what Fox or CNN tells them and regurgitate it as their own thought. Now we have this weird thing starting from AOC’s area how feelings are as important as facts which is an excuse to lie. Oh look I’m mad at big, evil, scary corporations so let’s not allow Amazon to open a HQ. People don’t need those jobs. -

This is what I’m talking about in my last post and a few others. People who want power want voters to think right versus left. This keeps them distracted so they don’t think big picture. Some people we elect are genuine I hope. But cmon, look at the majority of them. This isn’t the best America has to offer. News flash, you don’t need someone else to decide how you live your life and feelings do not mean more than facts. -
U.S. Indo-Pacific Foreign Policy
SABRES 0311 replied to SABRES 0311's topic in The Oval Office (Politics)'s Topics
Agreed. Aside from the sketchyness of KJU there are so many third party influences. However I don’t see how war on the peninsula would benefit any involved. IMO the U.S. should take the lead on easing tensions but hand it off to South Korea. It has to be on the Korean leaders to unify. If not it will come undone. -
I am 100% sure the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. Some say we provoked the attack by freezing their assets in response to invading Indo China. Either way much of the U.S. Pacific fleet was in port on Oahu and Japanese pilots were pretty much on a one way trip. However some landed including in mainland U.S. Pearl Harbor and Hickman Air Force Base have recently merged I believe and is the home of US-INDPOPACOM. At the time I think there was some talks between Japan and Germany but I’m not sure to what extent. For the Germans to attack Pearl Harbor they would’ve had to link up with the Pacific Ocean which, although I think they still had a non aggression pact with Russia, would’ve been impossible because of their petroleum issues, western front commitments, and incapable transport routes. It would have also negated the military aid the U.S. gave Russia in WW2 as any action to aid Germany’s attack would’ve been seen as an act of war, fundamentally changing the geopolitical dynamics.

So the point of this thread is to discuss U.S. foreign policy issues in the Indo-Pacific. I thought of doing a separate thread for each foreign region; Indo-Pacific, Africa, Middle East, Europe, and South America. The idea is to keep international issues/discussions in their own threads to make it easier for searching, research, and staying on point. While this is tied to U.S politics the potential is there for heated debate. I humbly ask for no personal attacks but also a layer of thick skin. If this is something you all are interested in please let me know. If not I will delete the discussion. First topic is North Korea. As POTUS readies for the second meeting KJU, new details come out of a possible diplomat exchange between the two countries. Not sure if this is testing the waters for establishing formal diplomatic arrangements. Although I have no doubt to the brutality the Kim family has put on their own people, the end state I would guess is easing of tensions to promote reunification on the peninsula. Would love to hear everyone else’s take on it.

You guys will like this. The hair!!! ?

Just saw the Bogo interview. Started laughing with the stare down. Clearly he interpreted the question correctly as “you guys suck so why do you think you have more than a snow ball’s chance in hell?” Answer: “I believe in the character of every guy in the room.” No doubt he feels the sting of lying on that one. His confrontation during the answer makes me think he thought of something to stick it to him. What better way than to speak blasphemy in saying every guy has character. Maybe he meant caricature.
