  1. have they released anything about the picks for moulson/mccormick?
  2. Need to see the picks received from MINN/WASH first
  3. I feel like this pending trade is going to be a curve-ball. Maybe Ennis.
  4. Yes, it's us watching them watch us watch them.
  5. All I'm saying is Geoff Sanderson is only 42, and could be the veteran leadership we need down the stretch.
  6. Quick has a Hasek-style groin pull, Miller keeps us in it from a 2-0 deficit to win in shootout 3-2.
  7. Ah, thanks. 30% chance. Shut the thread down.
  8. If they win their remaining games, what are the Sabres chances at making the playoffs? I'm putting it at 40%
  9. Here's a typical PP, i've watched so many: Biiig slapshots from the fringe of the blue line (misses net), lots of backhands against the boards trying to force the puck back to the point and pointmen trying to settle the puck down...3-6 passes between defensemen while they swap left and right positions for no reason....biiggg slap shot that misses the net again...full clear by opposing team...Myers behind own net...one guy on him..forces six more unnecessary passes between defensemen, many of the backwards...get going...get to blue line..slap puck in..opposing team slaps out again...rinse..repeat..
  10. Great deadspin video on the Bruins accusing Montreal of diving and a compilation of Bruins (especially Marchand) diving everywhere. at one point he says to the trainer "i was trying to draw five." http://deadspin.com/5988653/claude-julien-complained-about-the-canadiens-embellishment-so-someone-made-this-highlight-reel-of-bruins-dives
  11. We just need a philosophical change. You can tell that they're trying too many different styles. Honestly, if no one is standing in front of the net, Regher's booming shot doesn't matter. I like Tampa's triangle style of cycling from the slot to the corner to behind the net. It forces the defense to drop tighter to the net and it allows the PP D to creep up for higher percentage shots. It seems like Buffalo is trying to be effective by just swinging the puck around a lot and seeing what you can generate, which is why we're 30th in the NHL. Put something in place, get everyone on the same page, and stick to it.
  12. I guess when I meant came out flying it was referring to those times when they decided to put forth a shift with extra effort, skating hard and attempting to look like a hockey team. You can tell that at times they put a lot of effort forth without real results and it's frustrating them to no end. Especially when Nabakov was stoning them. I'm suggesting instead of say going balls out for 4 shifts a game, how about just have strong tempo to every shift, instead of trying to win the game with one line or a strong one-shift effort.
  13. I think a major issue during this spiral is that the whole team is very self-aware of what everyone thinks. The booing, the blogs, the news articles, all of it. So they try to come into these games flying and they rush their play, try to do too much, make mental errors and the frustration mounts on the ice and in the stands. It's a vicious cycle. I think this road trip will do wonders for their psyche.
  14. I live in Charlotte and have for a year. Just move down, it's great and the job/housing market is fairly strong.
  15. i predict the sabres come out angry and motivated and run away with this game
  16. The problem is that no one manages Buffalo fans' expectations. Every year they hype the hell out of the teams. Billboards, commercials, interviews, Buffalo News pieces, god forbid one of our players is mentioned on national coverage. And all of this off-season stirring, because we usually have 8-9 months to let everything ferment with speculation, leads to a conflated, distorted idea of what the team actually is. How many times have you come into a Bills season with optimism and hope? every. single. year. and why? The Bills for the better part of the 2000s had said they're re-building, they're young, they're growing. But, blindly, we puff up mediocre teams to get behind, only to be disappointed in a month. The Sabres have had more recent success, so it's a lot harder to be pessemistic, but this is an average team, with average, if not ageing, talent. We're trying to take a team that is top heavy with old/complacent and young/inexperienced, and make them into a cup contender. Stay away from the hype and it's a lot easier to assess the talent. We're last in the Eastern Conference. We've scored 1 goal in two games. We'll beat the Bruins and then lose the next 3, because that's what average teams do. You just need to stop being surprised by it.
  17. i don't hate ott gring gerbe, now if they could give that line some ice time, that would be another story.
  18. i want to see some 2nd/3rd liners score their first goal and i want the D to D passes to be ON THE TAPE and moving out of our zone fast. That's all. I can't believe this is what I'm asking for a quarter of the way into the season.
  19. like ive never watched so many games where im screaming move the puck forward, stop passing it backwards, MOVE FORWARD, stop trying to make two line passes from your own zone that get picked off, missed and result in an icing, or hit their target that then they're immediately stick checked away. It's insanity. SKATE! they don't skate they glide and stick check. Gliders. it's like you watch a game and it looks like a 58-minute penalty kill with a 2 minute powerplay. if i see one more guy try to clear the zone by backhanding it along the boards only to have a defenseman stop it and slap it at miller, i'm going to lose it. Jennerret needs an easy button that just says "NOT OUT"
  20. I don't care how this team shakes up the lines, it just needs to happen. Throw in different blue liners, mix up the wingers, whatever. Just find the right combination. They look so out of sync. I went to the game in Raleigh, and it was like watching actors portray hockey players. I would take any spark right now.
