  1. You can't just saunter into a thread like this, kind sir, and not present more than this. Be gone or bring truffles.
  2. I actually stopped reading after saunter. I had enough to let me know it wasn't getting any better than this. Top notch.
  3. You used saunter so this is your best one yet.
  4. Just starting to watch Master of None with Aziz. So simple and funny.
  5. Somebody close to me committed suicide. If they had a gun somebody else would've been dead, too.
  6. My foolish thoughts not directed at any one poster or line of conversation here. More a reaction from the today. There's no one clear way to cope with mass death. Nobody has a hang of this. What happened in Paris and Beirut is scary as hell and so many innocent lives were taken sudden without any legitimate reason aside from terror and destruction. I don't know that there's a right way to cope. Changing your profile picture is absolutely fine. I'm happy to see so many of my friends did, because it's a sign of solidarity despite its simplicity in nature. Those criticizing it are claiming it's a mindless self indulgence, but who are they to say how somebody can or can't quietly cope and support? Unfortunately, though, I'm fairly certain there's an incorrect way to cope. Calling for the deportation and rejection of 1.6 billion people simply because you're afraid of a few bad apples (significantly less than one percent of the Muslim population identifies with murderous extremist groups) is baseless. They are not the enemy. They may be different than what you're used to, but they're humans. Many of them (specifically the Syrian refugees) are attempting to escape from imminent death. Are we that far from compassion that we can't reach out to our fellow human and tell them we're here to help? I know you're worried about your precious tax dollars, but these are human lives we're talking about. I held my newborn nephew in my arms and thought of how I hope he is never put into a life or death situation where his best lifeline turns its back on him out of fear, hate and prejudice. Nobody knows what they're doing right now. A close ally was just attacked. An unfamiliar land was violated and other unfamiliar lands are constantly under attack by terrorists moonlighting as followers of the Islamic faith. They are not representative of the faith and those spreading Islamophobia are (hopefully) not representative of us.
  7. You need to double Gronk. Especially with Edelman out. Chandler isn't a threat so we don't need to specifically worry about him. A corner and linebacker on Gronk on all passing downs.
  8. Practicing again today per Hoppe
  9. I'm hoping this was directed at the meme and not what I said, because I clarified pretty strongly that I don't believe you're saying that. I don't *know* people who have blamed all or most Muslims for radical Islam but I've seen probably hundreds of people who do. I don't know them, but I'm glad I likely never will. Radical Islam exists and it's not something people deny. There are people whir refuse to call it that because they don't want to give them the credit of their cause. They aren't actually fighting in the name of their God. They're just bloodthirsty idiots killing for whatever reason they want.
  10. Teams like Detroit, Baltimore, New Orleans, Tampa Bay and Jacksonville are at or near the bottom of the league this year which is why so many are thinking draft trades.
  11. I should've clarified. I wasn't pointing that at you. It was more a general statement when it comes to discussing the extremely minuscule portion of Islam's violent tendencies. There are plenty that make the assumption. You were asking about the numbers and are among those that I trust are being straightforward when asking for expansion on a thought.
  12. Not quoting for the sake of the rules, but I agree with your first paragraph. I do think this is a QB's league. I find that to be pretty undeniable at this point. But it doesn't lead me to believe nothing matters until you have an elite QB. You NEED an at least competent and consistent QB to win in this league, but the "until we have a QB nothing else matters" argument often infers we need something more than that. Second paragraph I also follow pretty closely to. However, I don't think a trade up would be necessarily depth shattering considering the rookie wage scale and fact that we've locked up a good number of guys. By the time the QB is ready to get his first big contract (if it gets to that point) we'll have gotten to the point where we have the normal number of picks and other contracts will have expired. We don't need quantity at this point. There's obvious risk there as you never know when certain players will drop off or suffer horrible injury, but that's a risk you take every year. And you missed a key phrase in my second bolded statement: "beyond the line of scrimmage." Moving the pocket is a great trait, and that's something Tyrod has the ability to do. Getting a ton of rushing yards is fine and dandy, but I don't think an offense that relies on a quarterback doing that will win anytime soon ("ever" is a bit over dramatic there, though. I don't know what the future looks like). And Russell Wilson is NOT a QB who relies moreso on running beyond the line of scrimmage than throwing. He does it more than any other successful QB, but he's still good-to-great when it comes to consistently passing the ball. On your edit: Yeap. QB wins are useful when you take into account the amount of change they endure over time to still find success, but it's important to consider what's around them. That's what my first point in the post above was.
  13. Even if you assume that for every member of these groups there are one hundred who share their beliefs but aren't officially affiliated you're still only at less than one percent of their entire population. Mass murderous violence isn't a belief held within Islam or among a number anywhere near the majority. There are 2.2 billions Christians in the world. There are 5,000 - 8,000 members of the KKK currently. Are we to assume Christians are prejudiced terrorists?
  14. Yeap. I also wonder if Zadorov would've made the list if he hadn't graduated.
  15. Thanks for posting this. I'm always interested in hearing their breakdowns. Jack Eichel (2) and Sam Reinhart (4) are the only players listed in the top-50 prospects. None of the players or picks the Sabres traded this offseason are in the top 50 either. The Sabres page itself is here: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/teams/buffalo_sabres/
  16. Watching football on a Sunday where the Bills already picked up a win has been a nice change of pace. Watching some of these games has made is clear to me that this team has no excuse not to make the playoffs, and Whaley's job should ride on whether or not this team gets it done. The AFC Wild Card race is bad. The Steelers are the only other team playing well and in the hunt. Two quick QB thoughts: - We all know this is a QB league, but a smart GM or luck seem to be the difference for so many teams. Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are the only QBs in this league who have been consistently successful regardless of their weapons and/or defense. But they've also played for teams who have been essentially mistake free on key personnel decisions. Especially defensively. The Broncos had a strong defense when Manning got there but took another step when they landed Aqib Talib, TJ Ward and Demarcus Ware. The Patriots have done a fantastic job of drafting guys like Chandler Jones, Jamie Collins and moving a guy like Devin McCourty to safety. Teams like Atlanta (Paul Soliai, Tyson Jackson, others) and New Orleans (Jairus Byrd over Mike Jenkins, trying to fill holes with failed contracts elsewhere) have seen great QB play wasted lately due to failures there. - I'm not convinced a QB who makes most or many of his plays with his legs beyond the line of scrimmage will ever win in this league. It seemed like this was the future of the league, but it feels like that was a flash in the pan more than anything. If you've got a great defense I think you can win with a run-first offense, but you'll still need a QB who can consistently and safely makes plays down the field. I'm not set on Tyrod, but he's got the tools to be the type of QB who fits into a run-first offense while making plays down the field when you need it. He's not built like Cam Newton, so I hope he can reign it in on the runs and become a more dedicated passer. He's accurate on more throws than not and got the arm to hit it big downfield, but I haven't seen him do it with the game on the line yet. I'm excited to have Tyrod, but I'm not sold on relying on him long-term.
  17. I will make sure he's a Sabres fan. So will his father. There's no battle there. The battle will be his NFL fandom as his parents are both Bills and Seahawks season ticket holders (mother was born and raised in Seattle only to move here in her late 20s with my brother). He picked the perfect time to join us as I imagine he'll essentially only know winning hockey. :) Absolutely. It'll be a nice change.
  18. Met my newest nephew this morning. He was born at 3:10 am. He gets his first name from his mother's brother who died a few years ago and middle name from his father's brother (and mine) who died a few years ago, too. He was also born on our lost brother's birthday. The warmest baby I've ever held. This day is always an emotional struggle for me, but this is the first time since my brother passed that I've had a good feeling versus a bad one. Welcome to the world, little guy.
  19. They're Kurdish soldiers and not US soldiers so they follow an entirely different rule, but they're killing every soldier from the Islamic State they capture. They do this because they have no use for them since they're leaders don't value them/won't make prisoner trades and the soldiers would rather be dead anyways. They attempt to get information from them, then kill them. Another huge reason they do this is for fear of booby-trapped bodies. They've lost some of their own after capturing somebody who happened to be wielding an explosive or other fatal dangers within. I'm not advocating for this. It's just a way and reason another group is dealing with them.
  20. Only the second home loss to the Sharks in team history. Marleau and Thornton were on the team for this one and the 2005 edition.
  21. If you're going to bang your stick on the ice for a pass you can't whiff on the shot, Enzo.
  22. What a rocket
  23. Mikhail Grigorenko with three points (one goal, two assists) tonight for Colorado. Up to a goal and five assists on the season.
  24. Me addressing somebody's opinion and providing a reason why is the opposite of what you just accused me of. Swing and a miss.
  25. Sabres tweet: Coach Bylsma says that Weber had surgery and recovery time is between 2-6 weeks.
