  1. Because you can be what people accuse you of being with the amount of criticism still being unfair. Oh, I don't know. The lack of my blaming it all on her being a woman. I'm blaming the unfair amount on her being a woman. I'm not blaming the entirety of the criticism on her gender.
  2. Well good thing I didn't then. Also very fair. Her prominence and name puts her in the public eye more than other, thus subjecting her to more scrutiny than others... But it's still a little excessive. I do believe her gender has had at least a moderate impact on the way people talk about her.
  3. I am fully supportive of Bernie, but I firmly believe Hilary faces ah unfair amount of criticism about being "fake" purely because she is a woman. She doesn't lie more or much more than most other candidates, yet the scrutiny is unbelievable. This isn't to say she isn't dishonest and the base of the scrutiny isn't fair (it is) but it's excessive.
  4. http://www.newnownext.com/nhls-andrew-ference-helps-launch-rainbow-tape-to-support-young-lgbt-hockey-players/12/2015/ Andrew Ference is supporting a Kickstarter called Pride Tape to support LGBTQ youth involved in hockey. Awesome.
  5. Nobody has said it was a GM.
  6. That's certainly not the first time this comparison has been made. I don't drink soda often, but when I do it's probably orange.

3 years, $15M. Not brutal if the Sabres retain some salary there. But even if other teams are uninterested there's still a use for him beyond a buyout. At least this year.

It's all about expectations. He SHOULD be performing better and in our top six... But he isn't. And that's not necessarily fine, but it certainly doesn't warrant a buyout. Especially when I'm sure some team out there would give us something for him.

  10. Probably similar. I still believe he'll play his first NHL games either at the end of this year or at some point next year, but it will also depend on what moves the team makes/if they're confident in Bailey or Baptiste playing earlier. I would think Bailey and Baptiste get a taste of the NHL by the end of next season but are mostly set in Rochester until 2017 at the earliest.
  11. I don't think the Pens would ever do it, but if they did they'd demand Josi and likely refuse to take any other alternative. As far as Weber's contract: that'll be interesting. Teams will want him because he's still one of the very best at his position and likely will be for another few years. He's owed $24M over the next two season ($12M each). He's getting $13M this year. After those two years he's owed $30M from 2018 to 2025 (eight years). There's certainly recapture risk but the player is at a level that justifies taking on some of that risk.
  12. I can only speak from a mostly statistical POV since I haven't watched more than maybe a period of Rochester hockey this year but... Both are in the top seven for scoring in Rochester. Bailey 3-7-10 in 28 games Baptiste 5-7-12 in 27 games From what I hear there have been ups and downs but plenty of reason to think their play on lower levels was a product of their true abilities and not just playing against lesser opponents. I'd say it's a definite NO on relying on either to become top-six wingers right now but they've got a chance. Throw Hudson Fasching into that mix I'm confident we've got at least one big-bodied RW prospect who will become a very good pro down the line. They're all on a similar trajectory as to when they'll get their first pro look.
  13. If they really are interested in Johansen, Duchene and even Malkin then they're getting quarters for quarters. Those guys are all true number one centers when on their games and play for teams in dire need of defensive help. Especially Pittsburgh. Let's make a deal!
  14. I would be very interested in Loui Eriksson but I have no interest in a 78-year-old Radim Vrbata.
  15. My own. Reimer is number one on that list without a doubt in my mind. He's still young (27) and is having a great year.
  16. Executive says he would've easily taken Matthews ahead of Eichel were he in last year's draft https://twitter.com/CraigCustance/status/679718703806701568 Custance: Interesting talking to execs about Matthews. No hesitation when asked about him vs. Eichel. http://espn.go.com/nhl/story/_/id/14426927/nhl-auston-matthews-best-player-world-not-nhlhttp://twitter.com/CraigCustance/status/679718703806701568/photo/1 Worth noting that these comments are made after Matthews has already torn up a professional league over seas..
  17. When talking about trades and speculation it's worth remembering the upcoming free agent class... UFAs can be seen here: http://www.spotrac.com/nhl/free-agents/ufa/ Top five UFAs by position (in order) Left wing: Andrew Ladd (WPG) Milan Lucic (LAK) Mikkel Boedker (ARI) Teddy Purcell (EDM) Jamie McGinn (BUF) Center: Steven Stamkos (TB) Anze Kopitar (LAK) David Backes (STL) Frans Nielsen (NYI) Eric Staal (CAR) Right wing: Jiri Hudler (CGY) Loui Eriksson (BOS) Jaromir Jagr (FLA) Radim Vrbata (VAN) Troy Brouwer (STL) Defense: Keith Yandle (NYR) Dustin Byfuglien (WPG) Alex Goligoski (DAL) Jason Demers (SJ) Marek Zidlicky (NYI) Goalies: James Reimer (TOR) Cam Talbot (EDM) Chad Johnson (BUF) Jonas Hiller (CGY) Jhonas Enroth (LAK)
  18. I saw Sarah Palin was asked if Ronald Reagan could win the Republican nomination in the current climate and she fumbled her way to a yes then made up a bunch of mumbo jumbo about how he was a mix of the current candidates they have. She knew it was a clear lie so it was funny to watch. I've been polling those I speak to about politics who they support and who they plan on voting for: Six of six supporters of Trump I have spoken to personally say they will not vote. Four of the six have never voted. One supporter of Cruz plans on voting for whoever the Republic party nominates and plans to vote for him in the primary. Eight of the nine Bernie Sanders plan on voting. Both supporters of Hillary said they plan to vote because they believe she'll run away with New York without their votes. I haven't spoken to a supporter of any other candidate. One supporter of Cruz said they recently switched and gave up on Marco.
  19. Who knew Hitler was a North Star?
  20. Update on this: tears. Lots of tears. Today is my Christmas with my mom. She opened it up and as soon as she saw that it was a nicely framed photo of my brothers and her together she just gasped and said "you didn't!" then after a moment she was looking around the photo and realized I had lightly photoshopped my brother who passed away's initials into the clouds she squinted so she could clearly see it and then just put her hands over her face. She cried. We all shed a tear. It was a great moment as a family despite only a few of us being able to be in the room to share it... Getting a photo professionally framed certainly is expensive but the quality and this moment was worth every penny. I would've paid twice the price.

I think Jack has some spare change to make a move out on his own. Or even buy Moulson's house from him. I don't think it'd be a major deterrent.
  22. Them being polar opposites would matter if they played the same position but it doesn't matter here. They're polar opposite because they play different roles. But neither fit. Well Mario would if the coaches had any idea how to use him and motivate him. He's already checked out, though. As far as Graham I recall him missing a huge tackle at one point this year. I don't really think of him as a guy who excels enough at tackling for me to care if he's gone. He was a fine corner for us but has been bad-to-terrible as a safety. Can't move him back to corner because we're set there.
  23. I fully expect both Kyle and Mario to be let go. They don't fit Rex's scheme. I do think Hughes will be around for sure. Corey Graham will be an interesting one to watch. They can save another $2M+ if they cut him and he certainly hasn't worked out as a safety. So the first six words? :D
  24. Was it the colors? :p
  25. Steven Stamkos scored two goals for the Lightning in a 5-2 victory at home over Ottawa yet wasn't selected as any of the three stars. Very minor but I find that to be a little strange. The three stars were Nesterov with one goal and zero assists, Karlsson (OTT) with one goal and zero assists (36 minutes though) and Angelidis with one goal and zero assists.
