  1. Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie Cam Ward is on the verge of signing a two-year contract extension with CAR. (My assumption: he's only getting a two-year deal so they can expose him in the expansion draft and fulfill the goalie requirement)
  2. The Hillary comment was made for a few reasons: "with any confidence" because I can't confidently state those things. I will be voting for her but I do question how genuinely she cares about many subjects "The man is" ... Well, she's not a man.
  3. I'm pretty firmly against trading Bogo, but if we could land Shattenkirk and 28 for 8 I would do that deal without question (just as well as I would do 8 for Anaheim's first and any of Fowler, Lindholm or Vatanen). If we acquire a top-four righty then I would open up the talks on Bogosian. Maybe St. Louis would be interested as there would be controlled cost there but if not I'm sure there are plenty of teams interested. I do wonder if there's a deal to be had centered around Bogo and pieces for Jordan Eberle. If we were to land 28 and Shattenkirk I would absolutely move Bogo, a 2nd and a prospect not named Bailey, Guhle or Petersen (any of them) for Eberle. Whether we would have to give more depends largely on how much Edmonton likes Bogo. Or maybe we call Colorado and see if they're interested in Bogo+ for one of their forwards (Landeskog preferred but I have no idea how likely his move would be and we'd have to add a lot). I would prefer just to get a lefty dman and keep Bogo for the second pairing, but I would prioritize a Shattenkirk over Bogo.
  4. HEY ITS TW EVERYBODY! To be fair, the NMC stuff was clarified around a week ago now and has been reported consistently since.
  5. Outside of those whose pockets are lined by disagreeing with Obama his words on the "semantics" of "radical Islam" has been extremely well-received. I thought it was one of the better "speeches" of his tenure. The man is passionate. The man cares. The man is genuine. Those are not words you can say about Trump with any confidence (or Hillary, admittedly).
  6. Casual drive by: good post. I generally hate the "good post" responses in the politics thread because it's rarely about something you fundamentally disagree on but nobody responded so I wanted to give you some credit.
  7. Very important distinction. Both for the listener and host. Sometimes the listener is the one who isn't prepared so they get confused and assume the host is wrong (on local sports talk radio it's often the host that isn't prepared which is baffling).
  8. The rules, if are set as reported, have been made pretty clear to this point. It has all been laid out in the expansion thread.
  9. There's no doubt this is already done... And there will be an official list of players exposed/protected provided by each team so it's not like the league can randomly change it...
  10. This season is over. Every single move made at this point has absolutely no impact on 2015-16, according to my sources. Do what you will, but this makes sense to me. I don't really care, though. I mean "Um, (insert text above here)."
  11. The owner has mentioned Black Knights because, as mentioned, he is a West Point grad (and owns Black Knights Financial Group), but he said he will be holding a naming competition like so many other teams have. I wouldn't hate "Las Vegas Knights." Knights are mentioned for a name idea in EVERY new city these days, so we might as well finally get one. I suggested "Las Vegas Nights." Light Vegas Lights and Las Vegas Aces are other popular ones. I imagine the league will push back against direct references to gambling, though. Also, you can now do your own expansion draft on General Fanager: http://www.generalfanager.com/teams/expansion
  12. I don't believe we'll be too hesitant to make moves since we still have plenty of protection slots for forwards being used on guys like Larsson/Foligno.
  13. Well, the official league year isn't over but there's already going to be a TON of moves/talk for what is gearing up to be an exciting year in the NHL. Likely the final year that the league has 30 teams, so let's have some fun. To start it off: Blackhawks use Teravainen to dump Bickell, wow! Carolina Hurricanes @NHLCanes [NEWS] #Canes acquire Teuvo Teravainen and Bryan Bickell from Chicago. Details: n.carhur.com/1Uzlxc3 pic.twitter.com/eCsu0CN0MN
  14. Normally we just discuss trades in the Around the NHL thread. I'll open up Around the NHL 2016-17.
  15. The second line is why I'm glad we didn't do it. I don't think Teravainen is THAT big of an upgrade over current options that we should take on a contract that might limit us this offseason.

  17. It's not just "three players" by the way, have to expose two forwards and one defenseman that fall in that category (so Gorges fulfills the defensive need). Deslauriers, veteran we sign, Larsson (if extended) and others will make the second forward easy to expose. We will also have to expose one goalie under contract through 2017-18, so I imagine whoever we get as a backup will have at least a two-year deal (Chad, come on back for two years).
  18. I like Brouwer but he'll get far more than I would consider paying him. On Okposo: yes, please. I hope GMTM doesn't focus solely on Stamkos and fail to engage Okposo and his people. He would look great by Jack's side for the next five years.
  19. Huh? Neither situation forces you to protect one d. The "eight skaters" option will likely be used more by teams wanting to protect four forwards and FOUR defensemen.
  20. I would likely have a tough time between Provorov and Juolevi but I do think I'd give the nod to Provorov. He'd slip in at five behind the four forwards. And it'll be interesting to see how he and Hanifin compete in a few years.
  21. Nope. Don't need to protect Samson, Jack, Hudson, Casey Nelson, Justin Bailey or Nick Baptiste. The only "prospect" we would need to protect is William Carrier.
  22. I'm pretty sure it was well known that Vancouver was trying to get BC kid Samson Reinhart.
  23. They can't buyout players they take in the expansion draft for a full year. The appeal to Moulson would be the first point you made and the veteran appeal. Also, despite a few reports otherwise, it appears Bogo does NOT have a NMC. I think there's a good chance he gets protected if he's here, though. I could also see Buffalo choosing to do the "eight skaters" protection instead of the "seven forwards, three d and one goalie," though. The seven forwards, three d and one goalie would likely be: O'Reilly, Kane, Girgensons, Ennis, Larsson, Foligno and Deslauriers/Carrier; Risto, McCabe and Pysyk/Bogo; Lehner. The eight skaters allows them to protect: O'Reilly, Kane, Girgensons, Larsson/Foligno/Ennis; Risto, McCabe, Bogo and Pysyk; Lehner I would rather protect Pysyk and Bogo than Foligno, Larsson and Ennis. It also depends on what we do this offseason.

  25. It's highly unlikely anybody outside of the top three (maybe four with Tkachuk) plays next season. None of the dmen should be playing right away. On that subject: where would you rank Provorov if he were in tbis year's draft?
