  1. Leafs just announced Matt Martin to the Isles for Eamon McAdam
  2. The dad part is a direct quote from him. The punked part is a direct quote from Nick Anderson.
  3. If they go over $5 million for a guy who looked like he barely belonged in the NHL for half the season it’s a big mistake. This is definitely a situation where I prefer a bridge deal. Two or three years at $4.5M max. Offer 2 at $4.5M or 3 at $4.25M.
  4. The NHL banned it, that’s why Biron switched. For the record: I hope he does switch to 9. I love the number in Hockey. 15 is extremely bland and it could be a mental fresh start.
  5. Indeed, wore it because he wore it growing up like his brother did. He also said he wanted to wear 45 because it’s the number his dad watched him wear before his father was murdered. He changed back to 23 because he got punked by another player who said after the game he never would’ve been able to do it to number 23 but could do it to 45.
  6. Kobe because of the incident in Colorado (he claims it wasn’t) and LeBron because 23 was retired with the Heat.
  7. This wouldn’t get it done. They’re said to want Theodore and Tuch plus picks from Vegas. I don’t think they get that, but it’s an indication of what they want. If you REALLY want to move Risto and bring in Karlsson it’s more likely Risto is involved in the deal to land Karlsson. I do not think Karlsson is realistic. I don’t think he’d want to come here, and I don’t think the team wants to handcuff itself once Dahlin, Mittelstadt and Eichel are on bigger deals. I’ve always said, though, that you always make the cap work when it comes to truly dominant players and Karlsson is one of those guys. He and Anderson get almost all the credit for their run to game seven of the ECF two years ago.
  8. Seen a lot of this rumor going around. First time I saw it was from Lou Billitier, owner of Chef’s Restaurant. He’s got a history of getting a few things like this right and has connections to the teams through his restaurant. Anybody hearing anything more on this?
  9. Same. I’ve seen some talk about it amongst fans in Winnipeg but all admit it’s wild speculation when pressed. Meanwhile, O’Reilly has actually had a very public incident with alcohol yet it’s just “spin.”
  10. Multiple sources have been cited. And, see D4rk above if that’s not good enough.

  12. I like that Bergevin knows he’s so bad that he has to come out and be like “well, I ALMOST accomplished something.”
  13. For as much as we’ve grumbled around here about the offseason it’s amazing to see teams that have done nothing. The Wild came in with a new GM in Paul Fenton (the guy I wish we hired both times we had an opening) and in need of a shakeup and haven’t done anything to this point. The Habs came in seeming like a team that was ready to move on from Patches and bring in a Center... end flipped Galchenyuk for a worse winger. The Oilers, Blackhawks and Ducks are three other teams that there was much talk about but nothing has happened. I don’t blame teams like the Sharks, Stars, Lightning and Bruins because they were teams around the cap that focused the early portion of their offseason on Tavares.
  14. It doesn’t appear we can offer sheet because of the conditional third sent to Pittsburgh.
  15. My lord that’s bad. I’m guilty of relying on Siri/Apple too much when I’m typing on my phone, so if I’ve missed that much it clearly won’t know what I’m trying to say
  16. Because he’s still a top talent with a real chance at becoming an NHL player. I know anything that takes more than two years is unacceptable but there’s legitimately no reason to give up on him. He likely won’t have a ton of value in a trade, so you have to hope he puts it together. There are players who have been bad in the AHL but taken off once they got to the NHL. Different levels of competition have different impacts for certain guys.
  17. I imagine this has at least some level of impact on the decision to move him. The “locker room” stuff has always been mostly vague, but this is certainly part of it.
  18. Yea, I’ve just heard Reinhart thinks it’s impressive and “cool” but hasn’t attempted to replicate it. If his posts on Instagram are any indication Mittelstadt is at least surrounded by kids who love to party hard. No idea how he is, but he’s also a college-aged kid so I don’t fault him.
  19. Yuuuup. And it certainly got to a point where he’s somewhat capable of playing well while doing it but not often.
  20. Essentially. It didn’t impact him in the showing up drunk sorta way, but there were definitely stretches where he struggled and it was known to be during a stretch of drinking. I believe it was more during homestands than anything. It was also well known that Reinhart and Risto specifically envied that lifestyle of essentially doing what you want when you want even if they never dove into it.
  21. I’m kind of surprised O’Reilly’s in-season benders hasn’t gotten brought up once in here. Maybe it’s because the media hasn’t brought it up much at all, but it’s pretty well known within the media.
  22. Thanks, man. And the timing of the upgrade all but gianratees the Sabres will do something big during it.
  23. I do, I just realized when I edited the list to get Thompson in there (I based it off your list so I forgot him) I didn’t put Olofsson back in. I’d put him at 6 right behind Thompson.
