Anders Lee just scored 40 goals. I don't think you get him for O'Reilly and a 1st.
-
For someone as good as Tavares probably not at 29.
-
I think this is bananas. Two years from now Tavares will still be in his prime and Matthews will only be better. Both could very well be better than Eichel at this point (and most likely will be better than Mittelstadt). Kadri and O'Reilly aren't too far apart. But I'll take Dahlin over any six of their defenseman combined into one superbody.
-
I have a hard time believing it's a good idea to keep a guy around who has publicly stated his unhappiness after 40/50 games in a season and been involved in trade talks for months. I like O'Reilly. I was ecstatic to have him and bummed when it started going down hill with him. But I do think moving him is the right move. At the end of the day, however, winning cures all. We'll see if keeping the exact same core and, basically, the exact same roster outside of the guy you got for getting lucky in the lottery is enough to take us from last to competitive. I'm skeptical. We'll see how the rest of the offseason goes but if it's just shuffling a few more mediocre bottom-six/AHL guys I will start having serious doubts about Botterill.

I literally said this verbatim in the post you quoted.
-
He's been in the league for nine years and hasn't won a playoff series yet... so maybe eventually there'll be evidence to support this claim.
-
Yes, they are definitely keeping their second-best player. They'll have to move a couple out. Smart teams always find a way, and they've maneuvered the cap as good as anyone.
-
Their GM already stated they are indeed out. Said the asking price was too high. Still plenty of time, but I do not think keeping O'Reilly is the right move unless the offers were atrocious (and I doubt they were).
-
This guy has been wrong often but... David Pagnotta @TheFourthPeriod 3m3 minutes agoMore Confirmed: John Tavares has agreed to terms with the Toronto Maple Leafs. But this guy is never wrong: Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC 17s 7 years for Tavares in TOR
-
Chris Johnston @reporterchris now Tyler Bozak gets a three-year deal from St. Louis with a $5M AAV.
-
So no O'Reilly... Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 21s Tyler Bozak will be heading to STL.
-
After Barzal and Tavares their next highest scorers were: Josh Bailey (28) Anders Lee (27) Jordan Eberle (28) Nick Leddy (27) Anthony Beauvillier (21) Brock Nelson (26) Ryan Pulock (23) Andrew Ladd (32) I'd say he fits right into what their timeline is.
-
I'm not so sure on this. I don't think Trotz or Lou have any interest in a full rebuild. Barzal was elite from day one (who knows if he'll continue that going forward) and they've got a good stockpile of talent. I think O'Reilly makes a lot of sense for them.
-
I don't imagine they'll be willing to part with Bellows or Beauvillier who are two names that immediately pop up. I also don't think they can/would trade either of their most-recent first rounders (Wahlstrom or Dobson). They'd probably love to attach value to two "change-of-scenery" types in Ho-Sang and Dal Colle, but I'm not interested in either as a key piece. Brock Nelson is another guy they've been interested in moving, but he's barely younger than ROR. The Isles have some pieces I'm interested in, but I don't think they'd part with any of them in such a move.

Just when SDS said he wanted a forum upgrade he gets a big downgrade.

The Canadiens acquire forward Joel Armia, goaltender Steve Mason, a seventh-round draft pick in 2019 and a fourth-round pick in 2020 from the Winnipeg Jets, in exchange for defenseman Simon Bourque. DETAILS -> http://goha.bs/2Mym1CO

SDS! No idea if things have changed around here but I’m sure this place is still golden. It seems as though the “forgot password” captcha is no longer operating, though. I feel like you’d have to not login for nearly two years to forget your password, though.

Swamp! Hey hi hello, hope all is well. I don't want to derail the thread -- so I'll give my two cents on O'Reilly... trade him I think this for several reasons that others have probably said 20 times: 1. You can't just keep the same core and hope they'll lead the youth to a winning future. 2. They're not going to truly contend for several years, at which point ROR will be a $7.5M third-line center likely getting to the end of his prime. 3. I'm bored and want to see what JBots can do.
-
I promise this was a coincidence. I had been lurking for a few days trying to get my hockey fix, but I miss engaging a bit.
-
So when is something interesting going to happen?
-
I imagine this won't be an issue since this never really got going, but if anybody wants to keep this thing going you'll have to migrate this to your own thread. I won't be updating it.

Game discussion thread GDT : Leafs at Sabres 3-25 7pm
Hoss replied to WildCard's topic in The Aud Club
Anybody still looking for a ticket? I have one but am no longer attending. Same price as TW set: $100. -
Lmao I just insisted his claim that we were making rules is false and then you come up with a response about how people can live without rules. Reading comprehension around here is a serious problem. And there's a serious problem with the understand that both sides of an argument are doing the same basic thing from a different angle. If JJ insists he should be allowed to touch any single girl he wants once and I insist he shouldn't we're both proposing a "rule" and guideline by which we believe life should work. I think I'm going to leave here soon. It's just not worth it. I grow tired of these lame discussions and excuses for sleazy behavior.

Neo, do tell what has changed so drastically in the category of sexual advances and assault so much that makes you call us lunatics? Also, it's a discussion on a message board. Nobody here is making the rules. Just because you disagree doesn't mean you get to patronize us by claiming seven people are attempting to create rules hundreds of millions should live by. It'd be convenient if you could skip the language gymnastics, too. It's tired and your opinion is the same without it.
