It's moments like this were I wish Lindy would still be the coach and answer... By the way a few weeks ago we saw this "hit" This was worse than Kaleta and I even thought this was a 2 minute penalty and that's it. Here is what I wrote at a different hockey boards a few days ago and last night was a prime example... gotta be honest I hate players standing with the face towards the boards waiting for every tiny little push to crash in the boards... There has been boarding this season but it looks as if players know "wait for the little push and try to go into the boards in order to get a penalty"...They know that they will call it. So they put themselves in this vulnerable position since there is a high chance, that they can get a draw a penalty for little pain by going into the boards. They think "what are the odds to suffer a serious injury? 1:100? Well that sounds ok" Mike Weaver was not suspended for his hit. When Weaver hit Lucic, Lucic was bending over so if you wanna call it, in a vulnerable position. Kaleta shoved Richards when he was standing straight up and not bending over. So there is no reason for a suspension. But it is Kaleta so there will be one.

Vancouver wanted Kassian or Foligno. So the trade would have been Foligno for Hodgson or Kassian for Hodgson. Thats why I compare those 2 instead of Kassian and Hodgson.

I still say we dealt Kassian for Foligno and not Kassian for Hodgson.

When he retires, Hecht needs season tickets for the rest of his life... right behind the goalline...

Overall a good game. In the third period it looked like they knew what they are doing and had full control of the game.

I am so looking forward to this game. Gonna watch it at a sportsbar. If's like the last few games between those 2 its gonna be one fantastic match

Although the first penalty they called on him wasn't one. Referees were terrible last night. calling everything.

As a team no. But we are talking about a player not about the team. Every team in the freaking league has players that have the job to shut down or calm down the play for a shift or two. THey usually play on the PK and 3rd or 4th line. They usually end up somewhere between 15-25 points if they have an scoring upside.

Problem for me on this team is still the mind-game. As soon as they blow a chance on the PP and the opponent scores one, they start thinking "yeah as always what else should we do its just not working out." Its kinda waiting for something bad to happen. As if they enter the game thinking... "ok when does the bad luck hit us..." Even if they would have a 2:0 lead they would probably think. "oh it can't be true...within the next few minutes this game will get turned around."

Just play Hecht in a role that suits him. 4th line or 3rd line center. His job is to shutdown the opponent and lets face it. 19GP 0G 5A +1 Thats good numbers for a 4th line center so just play him in that role and on the PK. He is the only defensive reliable center the Sabres have. Ennis not responsible on defense... I think we don't need to talk about Hodgson's defense ability as well. Grigorenko is not there yet. Ott isn't really a center. This will be his last season in Buffalo. Play him as a shutdown 4th line center and a PK guy. Simple as it is. 7-12 minutes per game and its fine.

Here is the thing... We fans tend to read to much into everything. If you wanna think omg this was the best period this season. Youll find points that make you believe that. If you wanna think omg same old crap team, youll find points that make you believe that.

I will miss Lindy because I always thought he loved the team as much as I do. Being the coach of the Buffalo Sabres wasn't just a job for him.

If the Sabres play like they did in period 3 against Boston, and like they did against Pittsburgh, a win will be the result tonight.

Especially because afair it was either Hodgson for Kassian or Hodgson for Foligno. Sabres decided to keep Foligno and send Kassian away.

Then again I dont compare Kassian and Hodgson. I compare Kassian and Foligno. And I rather keep Foligno than Kassian.
