FIrst 6 go through, 7th vs. 10th (Best of 3) 8th vs. 9th (Best of 3) So the first round this year was: (1.) Adler Mannheim vs. (10.) Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg Wolfsburg won the Best of 7 series 4:2. Never ever before has a 10th seed knocked out the 1st seed in Round 1. Major Upset. Mannheim was the big favorit to become champion this year.

Plus when the Jackets and Oilers had the high picks, they were terrible teams. The Sabres are having a bad season, but still have some assets to build of. There aren't as bad as the Oilers or the Jackets back then.

I dunno how Darcy does it, but he somehow convinces other GM's to give up more than they should :D

To be honest... I wasn't really mad that we lost last night. I take the Top2 pick over the 8th seed this year. The 8th seed will play Pittsburgh and there is no way that Buffalo would win a Best of 7 Series vs. Pittsburgh. And don't give me that. "Look at LA" stuff. We are not the LA Kings. The LA Kings were a lot better than the position they finished in last year. So I would rather finish at the bottom this year. Draft Drouin or MacKinnon and we would have a team that is really rebuilding with a promising franchise player. I take that instead of finishing 8th, lose in 4 or 5 games vs. Pittsburgh. We would end up with a 14th or 15th overall or something like that.

I don't have many players I would like to see signed at the deadline by Buffalo, for me its more important to see certain players leave the team. Not because I hate them, but because of rebuilding. In the summer I am really high on Scuderi.

well problem for Vancouver is, there in such a huge cap trouble they cant really go the "we want or we dont want to" path :D

The Buffalo Sabres have signed 15 players for the 13/14 season. Stand at $50.487.857. Cap will be $64.3 million if I remember correctly. So we are going to see some huge trades this off-season. thats sadly what I expect to happen. And in 12 months from now, where at the same spot, while a great Philly team will add a fantastic franchise player and will be even better next year with a new coach. Take the hit once, finish 28th, 29th, 30th. Draft a great franchise player and finally rebuild the team. It's a 48 game season, This is a glorious chance to finish last or at least somewhere in that area without throwing away 82 games. oh and about other teams picking high, and still sucking. This years draft is so much better in the top 5 area than it was in the last couple of years.

Seriously I am riding the same path. The chances to make the playoffs are still very very very bad. It's Sabres style to finish somwhere between 9th and 11th in order to get an average draftpick and in 12 months from now we at the same point over again. When if not in a shortend season can you play for a high pick. Especially since this years draft is superb. When was the last time, that Buffalo had a real Franchise Player Draftpick? Its been ages. I dont even count Vanek in that category.
