  1. I remember some general stuff about wanting the decision shortly after the visits and not to drag things out..but I don't recall any firm statement of Friday being the day. Then again, so many conflicting reports have been out there, I could just not be remembering properly.
  2. Kid is making one of the biggest decisions he'll ever make in life. Do you really begrudge him taking an extra day to make sure he's making the right one? Or he heard it from everybody. Don't blame the kid for the media coverage.
  3. Obviously I'd prefer to have him here, but my feelings haven't changed: I'm fine as long as it's not Boston or Toronto. And frankly, I do prefer him in NY to Chicago. I really want the Hawks to decline.
  4. A pitch clock should have been implemented two decades ago.
  5. Easily one of the most embarrassing spats in Buffalo sports media history. Graham is a heck of a writer and his long form features are generally terrific...but man, he's a grade-A douche. Why hire Coller when you can continue to employ Mike "simplest takes imaginable" Harrington?
  6. During the interview after the race he said his body just wouldn't respond when he tried to push it after the turn. I'm still in awe that that performance was disappointing. Probably, but I'm choosing to believe that every once in awhile, we do get a genetic freak with a crazy work ethic who can redefine what is possible.
  7. Bolt runs by far his slowest time in the 200...and still nobody else was even close. :worthy:
  8. You're cold blooded, man. Anywho... Tom E. Curran @tomecurran BREAKING: Brady misses start after slicing thumb with scissors prior to Thursday's preseason game http://fw.to/82MHFGI I cannot believe Belichick is so irresponsible as to let Tommy boy play with scissors unsupervised. If it gets infected and Brady loses his hand, the it falls on the GM who let him do this.
  9. Riter got fired, IIRC. But yea, I'd imagine the pay isn't great for the down-ticket talent.
  10. Joe Buscaglia ‏@JoeBuscaglia 10m10 minutes ago Marcell Dareus had his right arm heavily wrapped following practice #Bills Go Biilllsssss, for we are here to cheer for you, go Bills! (bonus points for those who can recognize where that's from)
  11. Matthew Coller ‏@MatthewWGR 13m13 minutes ago Matthew Coller Retweeted Howard WGR 'Tis true, I'm leaving to cover the Vikings at @1500ESPN ...next week is my last at WGR Sadness. WGR just got markedly worse.
  12. Methinks he'd be pretty great on Eichel's wing.
  13. Reminds me of a couple of my favorite articles I read in grad school: "The Science of Muddling Through" and the follow up, "Still Muddling, Not Yet Through". To those curious, yes, those are real.
  14. As someone with a bit of experience with this...earning an advanced degree is absolutely a labor of love and sacrifice. Not just for the individual doing it, but for those close to them. The amount of time needed to pour into it, the sheer number of times you have to say "Sorry, I can't, I have to study"...having an understanding and supportive (emotionally, if not financially) partner is unspeakably helpful. A less than great partner can easily leave aspirations (regards to both the education and relationship) in shambles. I think that's what Smell means by the degree belonging to he and his wife.
  15. Schultz has mostly been a mess as a pro, but I remember him getting a ton of hype coming out. Man, I always forget about Wheeler. What a player.
  16. I'm not so sure about that. I thought the only significance of a 35+ contract is that it's on the cap, not that the actual cash has to get paid out.
  17. I don't know what you ate for breakfast, but between this and your Gose stuff in the beer thread, you should feel great shame.
  18. If you had me painted in a loincloth, this is probably best for all. To the rest, I think you're making a mistake by conflating personal accomplishment with property ownership.
  19. Even that wasn't that bad, was it? Arizona wasn't going to use that cap space anyway. From their perspective it was all about adding Chychrun.
  20. So in a nutshell, you think in a marriage you're only entitled to claim ownership of what you have directly earned the money to purchase? So let's say you earn 60% of the household income and your eventual wife owns 40%, is it your view that she only owns 40% of the house? How do you divvy that up, exactly? Do you take the family room, she gets the living room, then split the yard? I'm sorry, but I won't be as diplomatic as Smell: you view of marriage and property rights is cavemanish. Ownership through husband being not true ownership is very much an idea of property rights ripped from the 1800s when only white men could vote.
