  1. The first part of this is right, but he most definitely did not have numbers to back it up. In one of the interviews after being hired he talked about how the hardest thing for a defenseman to do was to turn and chase the puck. Ultimately I think it's one of those micro vs macro things: it's harder on the Dmen to turn and chase, but that doesn't offset what your own team sacrifices by giving up possession for a coin flip at getting it back.
  2. Buffalo. Friday. More. I'd take the over, but not with a ton of confidence. 35-40 seems like the reasonable range to me. At least two days! Imagine if it goes until Monday
  3. Is this look that bad, or am I getting old enough where I think every new look is bad? Because this is about as bad of a look coming into style as I can ever remember.
  4. I can only assume you didn't take French in high school ;)
  5. Do you not think coaching influences that decision? I think it does. We had guys dumping when it wasn't even close to required (sort of like the Kings do, only we don't have the right players to consistently retrieve). Secondly, zone entries specifically designed to encourage maintaining possession. Teams like Chicago have these things scripted (as much as they can be in hockey, anyway). Dumping the puck should be last resort, and I don't think it was for us.
  6. We should add a poll here for where we think he ends up.
  7. One interview isn't changing my view--he can yap all he wants, I need to see tangible strategic differences on the ice (less dump and chase, for starters). And we'll see what happens when the Sabres are in the playoffs again, but I'm still not convinced he's agile/quick enough with tactical changes.
  8. Seriously. We're reaching Ruff territory with the blame game. Even with Shaq, we'd have taken Ragland if not him. So still out a 1st round pick.
  9. Indeed. Dareus set to lose nearly $2 million in salary for smoking weed. Hopefully he got the good stuff this time. Edit: Barnwell speculating Dareus may have voided some guaranteed money in his contract. Will be interesting.
  10. James Hardy 2.0. Okay okay, that's over the top. I just think he's destined to be one of those "all the talent, never put it together" guys. Probably worth a backup guard though.
  11. @Drunkard: I'm going to save people's eyes and not quote, but the Democratic Party has most definitely not been moving towards the center. It has moved left. Maybe you've moved farther left on some stuff so you perceive it differently, but the data doesn't lie on this.
  12. That's why I put the wink, you should know better! I'm pretty sure neither candidate would ask "where's that?" if you tell them something is down aisle 17.
  13. Anyone who has ever worked in a grocery store knows this to be patently false ;)
  14. We have nearly 60 pages about the next Drew Stafford? :D
  15. Me too. And clearly better than Malkin at this point.
  16. My point has absolutely nothing to do with what Reinhart is capable of doing as a player.
  17. Hughes was still great. And if the scheme was the problem, then Mario isn't a loss...since, ya know, Rex is still here.
  18. Believe it was Girgensons, with the Larsson line getting more time.
  19. And through all of it, there were two stalwarts: ROR and Eichel in the middle. Even during ROR's injury, Reinhart got what, two games in the middle?
  20. Thing is, how will we ever know? Can you envision a scenario where (sans ROR injury), he gets any real time at center to see?
