  1. I meant precisely what I said. Kane is currently a better player than Moulson, but he's a negative on better teammates, whereas Moulson is just a giant zero. Kane is at his best when he's flying around, dominating the puck, running and gunning with reckless abandon. If he's doing that next to Eichel, O'Reilly, Okposo, and/or Reinhart, he's taking the puck away from them and the team is better when they have the puck more than Kane does due to his subpar sense/vision/passing. Alternatively, if Kane is dialing it back, his own effectiveness is reduced. It's best for the team if Kane is the driving offensive force on a line where it doesn't matter if he's taking puck time away from his linemates--on this team, that's on either the Larsson line or the 4th line, and since Bylsma refuses to break up FLG, his spot is on the 4th line.
  2. Unless Bylsma is willing to break up FLG, that's the most logical spot for him to be.
  3. I don't think this is true at all. Though I don't know for sure, I'd bet there are winter driving studies about ABS has reduced weather-related crashes. It's also my experience, anecdotally of course, that those who are most fervently against ABS and the like also grossly overestimate their driving skills :nana:
  4. I love the Sedin comparison. No standout physical skill that will pop off the ice at you, but a sublime hockey brain. Took him, what, 4 years to hit his potential?
  5. Yea, most don't know the coffee caused third degree burns. Methinks it's not unreasonable to say there's some company liability there.
  6. I'm 31, had a very sedentary 6 months due to my shoulder...and lost almost 10 pounds. Go ahead, hate me.
  7. Good for you. What programs are you looking at?
  8. Me too. I'm not getting old.
  9. Lehner is just...meh. He's okay. He's a starter. But I don't think he's going to be the type to steal many games, let alone a series. He just seems pretty unremarkable in every way. On the bright side, this also means he's going to be relatively cheap.
  10. Friends and I used to do 20c wings every Tuesday at Tony Rome's. Good times.
  11. But I'll be sure to bump it the next time we lose :p
  12. Since I've been spending nearly all my time grading papers...Kane is the hockey version of the kid who gets a paper assignment, then proceed to spew everything learned throughout the semester onto the paper with little attention to organization and no theme at all. Word salad. You get through it and basically say "Well that's a lot of stuff, but what in the world was the point of it all there?" Kane does that in the hockey sense. Speed, skating, hitting, shooting, forechecking...but it doesn't add up to anything particularly good. And that's when he's at his best...lately, his work effort on the ice has been noticeably reduced. That icing he took was such a lazy play, and is emblematic of his total game right now.
  13. I'll consider the goalposts moved! :nana: FWIW, I was always in the camp that the numbers on Risto didn't properly reflect his play...because Gorges. In general I do think team-level statistics tend to more accurately reflect team play than individual-level reflect individual value, all else equal.
  14. The numbers say no.
  15. It's like last season never happened for you.
  16. It's hard to put into words how done I am with Kane.
  17. "O'Rally" is the greatest contribution you have ever made to this forum. Magnificent.
  18. Maybe they meant 1 game over the course of his games missed? Figure prorate that to 4-5 wins over a season, which sounds less absurd.
  19. May and Duff making quality observations about the balanced ice time tonight. Good on Bylsma for that, hope it continues.
  20. Yea, I mean, the primary job for a sports talk host to me is to be likable. Murph is obviously a shill, but he's very listenable; I feel the morning show also does a good job of this (though Jeremy does occasionally grate)....but Schopp and Bulldog? Bleh. Just bad.
  21. I'm really happy he's here. I may hold a vastly different opinion 5 years from now if he goes Moulson on us, but for the time being, I'll simply enjoy it.
  22. I'm shocked--shocked I say--that either or both of those two would make a bad point.
  23. I think we're seeing part of the reason why the Habs were so terrible last year sans Price....
  24. In a game like this, I will GLADLY take a garbage goal!
  25. I'm back on the O'Reilly for captain train!
