  1. Tom Coughlin would be the quintessential Pegula pick. It'd be the Sabres game presentation of head coaches. I honestly don't think it would produce a single emotional reaction from me.
  2. I didn't read a word of JJ's post, yet I feel I could guess me the gist. Anywho, I'm in if for no better reason than I can sue D4rk later on for hearing loss.
  3. To be clear, I wasn't assigning causality, just reiterating my stance that it's a really bad look. Maybe it'll work out in the long run, but I'm the short run the closure of the thread is having the exact opposite of the desired effect. The spillover into other threads is both significant and obnoxious (and I say this as someone who generally enjoys political debate). Maybe it'll work out in the long run, but the people who left because of the thread aren't coming back, and in the meantime we're losing and/or alienating a host of others. Having the politics thread in the first place may have been opening Pandora's Box with unintended consequences...but it's open now, and there's no putting everything back inside. I suspect there's a hope among the mods that the closure is causing only temporary friction that will dissipate with time and everything will be back to normal times from before the thread's existence. I not only find this unlikely, but I think it may be causing irreparable damage that doesn't simply get fixed even if the thread is re-opened. So we get the worst of all worlds. Reading comprehension. WildCard and I were responding to a post saying there shouldn't be any OT threads on the main forum, that it should be exclusively hockey talk. It wasn't about the politics thread. Edit: Don't have time to respond to the rest at the moment, but I shall.
  4. Okay, why wouldn't it work here? Tyrod is at his best 1) throwing outside the hashes and 2) when throwing to clearly defined reads. Sammy was arguably the best bubble screen WR in college history (this is NOT hyperbole). We have offensive guards who are adept at pulling. Robert Woods is a very good blocking receiver. What is missing to stop this from being part of the offense?
  5. Again, it has been done, and done well. This isn't coming out of left field.
  6. Why wasn't such a measure taken four years ago? Three? Two? However long the politics thread has been around? At any point since it started, there have been some pretty harsh conversations (to say nothing of the multiple Kane sexual assault threads), yet it was allowed to continue. The timing of the closure and banning of political discourse reeks to the high heavens.
  7. I'll keep it short: I don't think we have enough NHL fans writ-large to sustain a main page without OT threads, particularly when the Sabres are struggling. The main page would be a veritable desert wasteland without the other threads.
  8. What Gailey had Fitz and Johnson doing should not be a reason to not do what TT and Sammy could be great at.
  9. Why are you so against doing something that works?
  10. It was a staple of the Broncos offense Peyton's first few years there, when it was the best in the league.
  11. See, we can agree on things! :) I'm about 50 games away from wanting to sign Marcus medium term. Yup. Even if we sneak into the playoffs in our current state (we won't), I'd rather not be the team that's PP or bust. Every ounce of brainpower in that organization should be figuring out how to improve at even strength. Certainly explains why Lehner stops the shootout attempts in practices
  12. I have a way to get Sammy the ball that Tyrod can execute: bubble screens. Actually, anyone who ever watched him in college knows this (over 50% of his catches came behind the line of scrimmage), yet none of our OCs have incorporated it into the offense. I'd be shocked if we've thrown more than 5 bubble screens to Sammy since he came into the league. It's insane.
  13. If I ever see Risto out at a bar, I'm going to ask him if he can blackmail Bylsma to get him in the shootout.
  14. I stop watching, we score goals. You're all welcome.
  15. He forgot how to play hockey this year, obviously. Or perhaps more pertinent to Pi's philosophy: he signed a big contract and stopped caring about playing well.
  16. I arbitrarily give this post a minus. Better work to raise your value, or you'll be forever labeled a negative value poster.
  17. Me too. I love when people refuse to learn because it goes against what they always thought to be true. It's the best.
  18. If by "done the work" you mean "relayed the work of others" then yes, yes I have  Players usually peak offensively by 23-24, plateau for 5-6 years, then decline around 30. Elite offensive players usually hold their plateau longer, and some don't peak until their late 20s, but it's more likely that O'Reilly is a 60 point player than he is a 70 point player who has yet to peak. After all, it's not like he just broke into the league two years ago, he's been an NHLer since he was 18.
  19. Saw it today, liked it. Fun but unspectacular action movie...sorta like the entire series... *ducks*
  20. Perhaps you're not as big of a geek as I thought you were.
  21. Isn't it "Never tell me the odds!"..?
  22. Yea. I haven't checked in several weeks, but last I looked they were one of the best teams of the modern era (which I'll loosely define as since the lost season) offensively. Tire fire defensively, though, and I don't think it's only their blue line that's the problem--their forwards as a group are pretty one-dimensional. Who is really good defensively? Kadri and Bozak? Their wingers are poop.
