GDT: Buffalo at Toronto, 7pm 9/20/19, MSG WGR

I'm 100% convinced that 75% of our worst players from last year are playing on opening night, and everyone will find a way to justify it and be shocked when we're a mediocre hockey team again -
And I'd like to sign Dahlin for 5 mil per year long term, Colorado and yet, reality exists
-
Well at least Sheary-Mitts-KO vs. Tavares will help us prepare for our typical second line matchup come October
-
I wasn't watching super closely, and it is only preseason even if I was, but I'd agree with the general sentiment that Cozens looked like a smarter/better hockey player than Casey in their games. I still wouldn't keep Cozens up here, but if he gets a taste of his free 9 games while we wait for our forward trade to develop, well there are worse ways for the start of this season to pan out

Brandon Montour Out for Rest of Preseason with a Hand Injury

That's not so bad then. -
Yuuuuuuup. The dumb thing is that I got my lunch bag out last night, set it on the counter, and confidently decided I'd have enough time to make it in the morning instead
-
I just like that those lines don't make me say "why on earth would he think that's a good idea." Who knows how it plays out in the regular season, but we don't see any signs that Krueger things Sobotka is a top six player, or equivalently troubling things that other coaches have shown too much in the past. Like, those lines look like he understands what his players are
-
Update - was on time to meeting, at the expense of packing a lunch. So now I don't have food

Drawing penalties is probably the most underrated skill out there.

That's basically why I wouldn't wring my hands about defense if I was a Toronto fan. My only worry would be existing in Boston AND Tampa's division. Same goes for Pittsburgh any given year. It's also the same reason why I'm not down on Columbus even though they lost everything, presuming their goaltending doesn't completely die. They play suffocating hockey that generates from Jones-Werenski-Savard-Murray-Nutivaara, and they still have all of those guys. If we can establish a Nashville-like puck moving defense with a few key forward pieces, and the goalies don't die, it's possible to win games that way, and I agree with you that our defense as a whole is the closest unit we have to being good w.r.t. the rest of the league.
-
That list is based on where they left off at game 82, and could certainly have changed to this point, but we don't have any real games to see yet. It's not an insult to Dahlin that he's on the same tier as a legit top line forward.
-
Right, I always picture him as a rover that goes in whatever middle/bottom six slot needs a player. It's just always center for us. He's taken Jack's spot when Jack has been hurt before and it goes as you'd expect
-
I know we have a lot of defensemen but I LOVE the Columbus defensemen and would try to acquire one Imagine if we could pry out Savard *drools* I know he's not on the table though Still, Risto+McCabe+good prospect + 1st for awesome forward, dump Scandy for a 3rd, and then try to get a Columbus defenseman with what's left Now that's roster surgery
-
I still can't even picture ERod as a center. he's just a hockey player that is forced to play the pivot because we don't have any

GDT:Buffalo at Columbus. 9/17/19 7pm Streaming at Sabres.com WGR
Randall Flagg replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Some of Sam's best games of last season were in that stretch. The Saturday afternooner against the Caps, he basically single-handedly won that game, he was awesome, and it was probably the best game he's ever had in his life - firmly entrenched in the middle of the collapse. And if you project his scoring rate over the last 41 games of last year to the entire year, he still would have had a career high in point production with 55. That's kind of tough to fit in your picture. Repeat - the second half of last year Sam would still have been the most productive Sam Reinhart EVER had the first year gone the same way. So his decline wasn't any worse than that of all other top line Sabres (it was actually less severe than Jack and Jeff's, it looks like), and it's pretty well-established that these guys didn't fall off and tank the team, but rather their 100/80/70 point paces from the first half were not sustainable when no other lines were capable of doing anything, and so other teams could focus all their energy on shutting down one line. -
How would that happen? How would his presence on the ice make Risto's passes more accurate, or make better decisions when getting pucks to forwards? I just can't really picture that being a thing is all Pilut's main NHL skill is puck distribution and his main flaw is being physically overwhelmed, so when he was with a guy who does not get physically overwhelmed but who struggles with puck movement they stuck to their strengths and balanced each other's weaknesses and it led to good things happening
-
That's an upgrade on Dreger, isn't it?
-
I mean I'd love to do that, but why would Tampa trade an RFA center who put up over 40 goals and over 90 points at age 22 for that package? If I'm Tampa, I ask for Eichel, or Dahlin, or I laugh and hang up the phone
-
Gonna be really late to a meeting today because I got caught up on Sabrespace, god dammit
-
He allowed Pilut to do that which is why they worked well together.
-
We all got excited about Pronman calling Casey the best prospect outside of the NHL last summer, ahead of Elias Pettersson
-
There's something wrong with a bridge deal when you offer a top 10-15 player in the league less than 6 mil on it lmao
-
This very same man told us Mitts was a better prospect than Elias Pettersson just last summer And yes, I agree with Pronman that our young core is number 2, it's quite poopy
