  1. This may be the first time in seven years I am glad to see Darcy is doing nothing; although I would love to see Miller traded. Unless there is a "Drury-Type" (at the time he came to Buffalo) player to be had, I am content with starting the year with a ton of youth and play the market next year.
  2. When will Toronto learn that is their crappy defence is the problem? Are they trying to be Philly, who blames everything on goaltending so they can sweep everything else under the rug?. As a Sabres fan, I see this as a great move. Keep spinning your wheels leafs, maybe get a sniff of the playoffs in another 9 years.
  3. Another embarrassing game for the NHL. I just don't understand why the NHL thinks it is better to try and get fringe viewers, which they never do, by promoting the Penguins, while turning off real hockey fans. Not only is the Referring awful and onesided, then they have idiot's like Engblom saying that the only way Crosby deserves a penalty is if the opposing teams does it to themselves. Ottawa takes a penalty for touching Malkin. James Neal does nothing, but dive every time he is out there and then Ottawa gets called for diving. Karllson hits and breaks his stick over Cooke's and get the box within the last 2 minutes of a 1-0 game. Embarrassing. F the NHL. I can't take this garbage any more. And how the hell is punching a player in the head while he is on the ice not a penalty?
  4. Hecht was a good solid player here. He competed and did his job to his abilities. I do not hold any of his contracts against him. Who wouldn't accept an offer over the merited pay grade. Ruff is the one who insisted on playing Hecht as a top six forward, when in reality he never was. It sucks this guy got a bad rap around Buffalo, because he seemed to be professional on a team that lacks it.
  5. It's the draft system that is ridiculous. I don't understand why there is a need for a "lottery". To me the solution is simple the 17th placed team gets the first pick. The 18th picks second and so on. All tie breakers for the playoffs are the same for 18th through 30th. Then if Florida wants to tank the season so be it. they can pick 14th.
  6. There has got to be some contractural thing keeping him in Buffalo. Why wouldn't the Sabres prefer him to be in Rochester. Enough of their top players are in Buffalo, there has to be ample playing time for him there. And is it true he made 1.7mil this year, because that is what the capgeek site has him at?
  7. I agree with all of Kaleta's selling points. He is one of the few reasons I watch this team. I wasn't trying to bring him down; I'm just making the point that Hecht seems to be a fall guy, because he has been on this team forever. I think this applies to Miller as well. I don't care what his cap hit is if this team continues to sign huge contracts, while bringing no significant free agents in. If the Sabres can not or refuse to shop around in July, what does it matter what a plyer makes. I sense a lot of people here are dissatisfied with Miller simply because he is part of the status quo with Hecht, Stafford and the departed players. I'd like to see all these guys gone, because as long as these players remain ( no matter how well they play), they will be derided for never winning anything important.
  8. Kaleta and Hecht make the same amount. Kaleta is a hero, Jochen is a punching bag. Hecht has 4 goals and 13 points. He more times than not is on the same PK unit as Kaleta and the same can be said on the fourth line.
  9. Ehrhoff isn't even the best deal on D. Mike Weber has been as good as Ehrhoff this season and if you put any defender on the power play their offensive stats will go up (yes even on this team). Ehrhoff has been alright this year, but nothing spectacular. Any average D-man playing average would look like an all-star next to the cast on D this year. Ehrhoff's cap hit is over 4 times Weber's ( 4mil to 950K). If quoting Ehrhoff's +/- against this teams' is relevant, then maybe people should lay off Jochen.
  10. He was a thrown in on the Hossa trade in 2008, for erik christianson and Colby Armstrong, and Angelo Esposito and the Penguins' first-round choice Daulton Leveille I would take Hecht over that list of players making.
  11. Stafford to me seems like a player who needs led. He plays well when the team does (sometimes) and does not when the team needs him. This to me is what the term "passenger" is here as said by Drury after his last year and Ott a few weeks ago. I believe Stafford can score 20-30 goals regularly as long as someone on the ice is pushing him every second. No one in Buffalo is willing to do this and since he is wearing a letter now, I doubt the Sabres can aquire anyone who will motivate him.
  12. As long as the assistants are replaced, I'll go along with any coach that has any level of success in the NHL. I like Boucher, but I just don't know why. Tampa has some coach killers and I would rather have this guy recycled as opposed to Laviolette or Torts. Dave Tippett is who I am rooting for, even though I doubt Phoenix would make that change. But with new ownership and maybe a new location, it may be possilble.
  13. 2015 second round pick. That player should be relevant in what 6 years?
  14. Pre season organizational defensive depth looked great (on Paper). Regehr Myers Ehrhoff Leopold Sekera Sulzer Weber Pardy Brennen McNabb Pysyk Finley
  15. Agreed, but Hecht might be a last resort move for a team, who doesn't get what they wanted up to that point. A fifth today maybe a late third by wed. Personally, I like to see him go tonight, so Darcy isn't wasting time on him Wednesday.
  16. Good for him. I hope he does well. I'm glad to see Darcy moving the inevitable trades out early, so he can concentrate on trading the non UFA's. Hecht should be the next domino.
  17. Who put the fourth line out there for more than one faceoff with 2 minutes left tonight? I'm not talking x's and o's. Hecht didn't call his own number to be put up on the Ennis line. I still blame those sh***y assistants. OK I'm caught up now. Thanks.
  18. I must be late. I like Hecht. I think he plays his role well. In that, I believe he is earning his money. Does he have the option to say no when he gets tapped on the shoulder? Coach says play, you play. It's not Hecht's fault he is in there in the wrong spot.
  19. Just Jochen. I like Hecht, but what the hell is he doing there. They were double shifting him at that time. What the hecht was the fourth line doing out there with less than two minutes left? I don't know about Rolston, but that looked very Ruff-like.
  20. There's the Sabres we know. On the bright side Vanek's injury got Hecht some time on the Ennis Leino line.
  21. That is a perfect example of a "predatory hit". Nash has got away with these his whole career including juniors with Corey Perry in London. If he wasn't suspended playing for Columbus, I seriously doubt he will now he is with the Rangers. Although Corey Perry was just given 4 games.
  22. Who Else?

    Keep 5

    Ehrhoff Weber Ott Hodgson Vanek
  23. This may be true if you are dealing with only one team, but if several are interested in Luongo and the bidding starts, Schneider's contract become irrelevant. And Vancouver may be in a better position. After all they do not have to make the trade at all to improve their goaltending.
  24. What happened to those royal blue jersey's? Are they done? That would be a shame.
  25. Rolston is the interim coach, I'm guessing he wants to win games not figure out what is best for the Sabres next year. It's about time the line up reflected that.
