I have been a Sabre fan all my life. Well, since I was 6. I can't even remember how I found this place over 10 years ago now. I loved it back then and I love it more now. I love all of yous.

I am in the minority here and maybe the only one, but I think that Jeff is worth every penny of his contract. In the coming years assuming all goes well it will be a bargain. What is the going rate for 30 to 40 goal scoring 65+ point first line winger in the NHL ... it's Jeff's contract. And that will only be going up.

He has 3 years left at $4.75. He will be turning 30 the year of his next contract. Hmmm ... it all depends on what happens in the draft and who might be able to bring what he does. If anyone he would take a *home* team discount, especially if the Sabres have a cup in the next 3 years or are really on the cusp of several cups. If he hold up over the next 3 seasons I can see the Sabres wanting to sign him to an extension.

Tage, Mule and now Cuzsie. Dahlin will happily sign the Tage deal ... (+ 2.75 per year) ... 8 x $9.75M AAV ... with $15M in salary and bonus in year 1 and year 2.

I think Girgs will sign for 2, maybe 3, since he has been a good and loyal soldier through the dark years. He's a good guy too. Jost will be signed for 3 years, I think. Both of these deals will be in the $2.5M / year range. I think that KO may stay on for 1 year at $3M or may be retained as some kind of good will mascot or something like that. Then his salary would not count against the cap. Some kind of arrangement for Anderson I think. Power will likely be bridged, but the way things have happened recently I would be dead set against it. Pay him now ... he will be a great top #2 for the Sabres (he may not actually be on the top pairing, but yous know what I mean) and likely a #1 on many other NHL teams ... 7 years $50M. Mitts and Joker I think will be signed for 3 years each at around $5M per year. Krebs will be signed to a 2 year deal for $4.5M ($2.25M per year). Bryson will be signed to a $1M 1 year deal to play in Rochester or someplace when they dump him. UPL will be signed. Not sure of the numbers ... is he a #1 now or not quite ?? I expect a 2 or 3 year deal, but no idea about the $s.

It was bad all night, but is better this AM. It's actually warming up rapidly and will be +3 (feels like -3) this afternoon with the wonderful *mixed precipitation* ... now that's more like it. Wood stove was burning all day yesterday and into the night. Let it die down overnight, but still toasty in here. I am working in my office this morning (taking a bit of a break to catch up here) so I have not started the fire yet. it may be too warm out later this afternoon to light a fire, but will be burning this evening / night. So you are either in Cleveland, LA or Miami. Since it's bloody February that should rule out Cleveland (who would vacation there from WNY in February ??). So, either LA or Miami. I think LA is over-rated as a vacation spot and too snooty for the @Taro T family. That leaves the land of the Fish. If you hear someone say that they intend to make you swim with the Fishes ... run away very fastly.

You had me until the OT in the regular season part. Give me back ties in the regular season. I like the idea that has been tossed around here for some time and @Hank just posted it yesterday ... a football style scoring system where the winner gets 3 points and 1 point each for a tie at the end of regulation. No OT and no shootout monsense.
